      @kmb1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@TheZooNinjaS Well, he says in this video that he talked with Carter. So we know it happened. The question is whether he recorded it as an interview or just talked with him in person.

I'm 41 now, and I have owned a studio, I have made guitars, I have written my own songs, played festivals, lost an amazing 63 year old drummer that my soul will never be the same since losing, and I remember learning how to play "so much to say" on acoustic (properly!) while singing, and I cannot put into words how much I love what these amazing souls have done for me!. Love is the only way I can describe it. THANK YOU!. I remember watching from binoculars at the Gorge MANY years ago, and watching Carter behind the fence at the tour busses, and helping some roadie and showing him how to load things while smiling and being kind the whole time, and to this day it has stuck with me!. I got to see Leroi before he elevated beyond us, and I felt all of their energy EVERY time I saw them play!. I wanted to do the same with my music, and sadly life had other plans, and now the song Shotgun speaks to me. This band AND THE CREW that is their family has affected my life in a way I am having trouble putting into words, while trying not to sound like some kinda loonie toon, stalker crazed maniac lol. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I hope/wish that everyone involved in "DMB" could see this, and know that I am grateful beyond words, and I wish you all the best!! THANK YOU ALL SOOO MUCH!!. I wish I could have jammed with you guys. Keep well and stay safe in this crazy world and keep singing from the windows to each other!.

Dude I’m blown away. You asked the question I’ve been dying to know the answer to. I remember the day I heard that little snare drum snafu and I’ve had my theories. I figured no other fan would’ve heard that but as a drummer and sound engineer I heard that right away and I can’t believe you asked that friggin question! Thank you I feel whole and complete

So cool to hear the perspective of the tech behind the curtain. He's running around patching holes while the whole time the audience has no idea! Also catching that throw off in the live recording must have taken a killer ear Harry. I would have just assumed edge hits on the snare or a partially broken stick!

I was late to the game with Dave Matthews, but my wife is a superfan. I've seen the band 3 times with her and each time the sound and performance were much MUCH better than the last (and the first one definitely didn't suck). He isn't kidding when he says they are constantly looking for ways to take it to the next level. I've got as much respect for this whole crew as I do for any band out there.

Harry, you amaze me every time I see you. Not only are you a phenominal drummer in your own right, you are also a really great interviewer! Henry seems like a real gem of a guy and really humble about what he does (and agreed these guys get shamefully little credit for what they do all day every day). It's easy to see why they keep him on board. Thanks for this, and like the others say, keep going all the way to Carter himself. I have to believe he would love to be interviewed by THE DUDE! Much love Harry :)

I 2004 I bought "Under the Table and Drumming", the Carter Beauford instructional DVD, at a drum convention as a penny pinching college student. Got home, opened it up all super exited, pulled the DVD out and the disc cracked from the plastic in the center holding it in place. Never even got to watched it once. Couldn't afford to re-buy it. I can still feel the disappointment when I think about it.
Anyway, sob story aside...great video dude! Loved it!

6:46 I was at that show in about the 5th row. That was TOTALLY a switch out! I remember seeing it happen and being amazed by it. I don't play the drums nor know much about drumming but I remember being amazed at that! You could totally hear the difference and everytime I listen to that version from the Red Rocks 2005 show I think about this. THANK YOU so much for asking him that! When you started saying that you wanted him to listen to something, I thought "oh, that would be awesome if he asked him about Rapunzel at Red Rocks!"
    THANK YOU!

This is an awesome interview. Thank you so much. My favorite part, Dave on the spectrum. No seriously, ALL of it was great. What a humble man. Nashville show is coming up in few days, my town. If not sold out yet, hopefully I'll be able to get tickets. I've loved DMB since the early 90's when first heard them & given a cassette tape by the Vanderbilt University student radio station DJ. I saw DJ in the hall when I was leaving the darkroom where I'd been developing film, asked what band he was playing. Often played local bands. He went to check the name, handed me a cassette tape, said it was an extra one so gave it to me!! Wish I could put my hands on it now!!

I remember being in 7th or 8th grade and watching the dual cassete of " under the table and drumming". He was the first truly great drummer i ever saw and studied so needless to say, i would love the stick or glove. Hell, ill even take the guitar pick just because it shared a stage with him. So DUDE.....PLEASE!!?? O and btw thanks for the video. Its pretty damn cool to get this kind of inside look at the kit and how it's evolved and maintained.

I remember my first battle of the bands back in high school. my older brother set up my kit (I was in a thrash band) first song was heavy more than fast so just using one foot on the bass, as soon as the 2nd song started I went straight into double bass and about a minute in, the bass flew forward and I dropped off throne and disappeared behind the kit trying to get everything back in place. It was nerve wracking but funny to look back on lol I also had to use the sandbag trick for my cymbal stands. Been 12 years since that first time playing to a crowd, learned a lot since then

This is amazing, this mad genius (Henry Luniewski) going over sets where he's basically doing backflips 'n cartwheels to keep Carter's kit on point DURING SONGS...and he's so humble about it! As a fan of the band, it's always great to see the members connecting on stage and having a good time, but to see how that extends through the crew as well...it just speaks to how they pull off such incredible shows every night they go out. 'Can't wait for summer!

Dude, every time you post a video, I feel really elevated. So much good energi. We all know a video takes time, money and maximum effort to make. Don't feel the pressure to produce just because. Do it when you can and feel like. Many other's are making a video just because they can't and feel greedy for likes and money. Your are not like that Harry, and for that, we salute you dead dude.
Love, peace and drumming from Sweden

Beautiful video. It’s so nice to see how the work of the techs play such an important role at the magic we experience as spectators of a concert. The musicians of the DMB and everyone around them seems to have this kind relationship, almost like a family.

I remember watching your 5 tips on how to play like Carter some years ago; I've been watching you since and it makes me so happy how far you've come! Keep it up, Harry!

Fantastic video!!! Thank you so much for getting this perspective!! We all watch videos and interviews of our heroes to try and learn from them, but I think the tech is an often overlooked resource. This is the guy working day to day to help achieve sounds and I'm glad someone finally recognized the fact that we want to hear from these guys!

DUUUUUUDE! Best video on Carter’s kit EVER!!! So much insight and plenty of little nuggets (who knew about Henry putting sandbags in the kick drum and tape on the bottom hat!). From all the Carter and DMB fans everywhere, I thank you for lining this up and posting it for us geeks. Much appreciated 👊👏
