Hi Dee!.. Steven here!… Thank you for your video and the memories of that ‘fateful day’.. lol The mud was so sticky that once stopped, I just couldn’t get going again as it packed in tight. I had actually burned out what was left of my clutch trying to get going again… Was lovely to meet you and I’m glad you had a wonderful trip. Cheers! 😃
Good morning Dee. Loved your trip & the effort you put into it. So many women just do a trip . No heavy rock music to hype up the testosterone levels & " talk up ", the difficulties. You just do it. Well done little one. Just doing the ride.
Love the understated mindfulness of your work. From a fellow DR 650 rider, who has traveled with similar modality to yours in the backcountry arid and hill country of Southern Africa on old-school thumpers for decades.
With my overgeared, overheight and overloaded top-heavy DR650 with road-oriented tyres, I remain terrified of desert sand and desert mud, to the extent that I'm seriously thinking of changing over to 4 wheels for the outback. Well done, you!
Fit a 14 tooth front sprocket on the front of your DR. It’s so easy to do yourself. Fit a Motoz Desert HT 90/100-21 tyre. They are a little wider than usual and stop your front wheel sinking in the sand / soft sections.
Thanks for good advice well worth a try. Because my long inland trips entail 90% bitumen mileage from the east coast, I have settled on standard gearing and Shinko E705 tyres for maximum economy. But then in the outback I get little chance for scenic enjoyment because of concentrating so intensely on the ground immediately ahead.@@raymondmalone5661
Hi Dee, Great trip... and so many memories for me. Especially when it's damp, riding solo through that area on my DR650. You're not exaggerating just how slippery it gets... scary at times. Congratulations 👌 Brian
Nice video - thanks for posting. We are planning heading up the Strzelecki Track to Cameron Corner and Tibooburra on the way back from a trip to S-W WA in oct/Nov in our 4x4 Hilux Suncamper Motorhome
Hi Dee. Geoff here with husqvarna 701 at Cameron Corner. Just watched your video. Great footage and story. I'm going back in about a week to finish trip solo as Steve's back at work. Glad you got home safe.😂
Great story Dee, thanks for sharing your adventure
Your movie is fucking beautiful, Dee.

So good to hear from you Steven. I wish I had filmed the crowd trying to dig away the mud from your back wheel. Hope you're well. Great meeting you.
How good? So good! Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏻

Thanks for the comment. Did one or two trips back in SA in the late 70s early 80s
What an adventure! Liked the spaghetti western music at one stage, it matched the scenery well.

Awesome video Dee! I'll be going past there in a couple of weeks or so... Enjoyed your video very much! Subscribed 🙂
I admire your resilience and tenacity! Those road conditions are a major test of one’s ability, capacity and perseverance! Awesome!

Geoff so good to hear from you. Have a great trip
Nicely done Dee - you handle the dr good. How do you go lifting the loaded bike? I have one and is a struggle when it's loaded
I have to unload -- the bike seems to get heavier each trip (but its the same wt)
what happened with the 390?
Sold it to a lovely couple in rural vic.
