That's one set up DR, you know what your doing. I purchased a 2013 DR650 recently and building it up to trail ride here in California, it's been hard for me to ride my 2017 Africa Twin in the trails last couple seasons. I really enjoy the DR compared to the AT, and I have been happy with the DR on the our interstates (freeway).
Africa's are great and punch big miles on dirt roads like no other but a bit heavy and fragile in some conditions. Sounds like you have the best of both worlds!
I rode my t7 for 76000km. Now I have a DR650 and I love it. No more fight to pick up my bike. I try a lot of thing and I am not afraid to drop it. You have a very nice bike. Thank, Alain from Canada
I look up to you man. Super cool informative video. Just got my first dr650 and looking for all the info my brain can possibly absorb. Thanks again for sharing!
Great video ! Cheers from Wyoming , I've been thinking about picking one of these up to go Elk hunting with instead of a four wheeler. Here in Wyoming reliability is an absolute must also. You just gained a new subscriber.
omg man youve done a fantastic job on that bike. love the forks. i got a 2023 dr650. dont laugh its got 3 klms on it . from the bike shop. i havent ridden it yet. after looking at your bike i dont want mine anymore. 🤣🤣stay safe out there mate. thanks for shareing.
I haven't owned a DR650 in over 20 years. I owe $900 on the Tenere still but when that's paid off I think I'll go shopping. Great video thank you, subscribed.
Hey bud, I always enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your efforts to share your mighty adventures across our great land, keep up the great work. This latest upload couldn't come at a better time I'm currently riding a Rhino AKA Bwm R1200 GSA and find myself spending more and more time in the Vic high country and recently been caught out a few times on the big girl and now have been looking at downsizing to a DR or DRZ but I'm a torn on which direction to go, your video is making lean more towards the Dr. Thanks for share, Safe riding and I'll see you out on the tracks someday.
I love the GSA in the Flinders but yeah wrestling one through th High Country sounds like hard work. Both a DRZ or a DR are perfect for most conditions mate. Go a DRZ if your staying in your state and a DR650 if you plan to go remote interstate I reckon. Cheers for the kind words Brother 👊
Awesome bike review mate. One of the best Pig builds I've seen. Im torn between going the Husky 701 route or buying another low KM DR and doing the fork and shock conversion and maybe a 790 big bore kit. I really enjoy my pig, but do find it a bit boring to ride sometimes, and wonder if the big bore kit is worth it, but dont want to sacrifice reliability. Cheers for sharing 🍻
nice Dr Stu , very well set up , im a pig lover myself , they are perfect for the Ozzy adv riding and like you say in the vid basic as hell and easy to fix , would love to know more details on the rear wheel swap and the front fork swap , have you any vids on these mods ? Also side note , how do you find that tank bag? I have the same tank and feel that a tank bag sits in a strange position , Anyway , cool bike man , ive had a Quick Look on your website too looks awesome , Any plans of doing any in WA?
Tank Bag...annoying but a necessary evil. I know exactly what you mean. The position stops you from getting right up forward but they are just so convenient. I had the forks done by a shop so no vids there sorry but would definitely do them myself next time. Rear Shock replacement I did a vid on. Rear wheel is off a DR350 and you just use the disk off the DR650 with flat, tapered bolts. Hope that helps mate 👍
@@ADVRiderAustralia awesome thanks Stu , been binge watching your vids that past few nights , awesome work my man , your a 1000 times better rider than I am but we are equal in the love and enjoyment of riding keep them coming 🤜✊
With the 25l acerbis on my dr, on corrugated roads it starts to back fire. Im pretty sure its the tank vibration, which vibrates the fuel line from petcock to carby, Need to steady that tank, any advice on the above, thanks nice bike
That sounds more like float level too low. If you tip your bike over with thr fuel on, at what angle does it start flowing out of the overflow? Do you have problems with it stalling on steep hills or under heavy braking?
Long live the mighty DR650.

Cheers brother. It's a goal of mine to come and ride the US. Wyoming is right up there on the list of places to discover!
@@ADVRiderAustralia Well when you make it here you'll have a place to stay !

Glen, my mate gets his DR back from Motojet next week with a 790 kit and different gearset ratios. I'll let you know what it's like in a few weeks.

Awesome built mate!!
Which brand is the rear tyre?
Mitas E07 Enduro Rear - 140/80/18. A good all round tyre for dry conditions. Terrible in Mud.

Yeah mate, let's swap for ride soon!!!

I love the tool tube. What size PVC did you use? It looks wider than the stock one for sure.
Yeah it's a lot wider. I'll measure it and get back to you.
The Tube measures about 5" or roughly 130mm in diameter and is about 450mm long.
Great video. I have the same fmf header. Where did you get the heat shield? Thanks 🙏🏼
@@andy3d1 it's the Standard DR650 heat shield. You should be able to still buy new if you don't have one.

@@ADVRiderAustralia Never stalls on hills or heavy braking, only on the corrugated roads where vibration is at a premium, does it start to backfire
awesome bike was wondering what size front wheel your running with the 18 rear
That's a 21 inch CRF450x Rim
Did the 450x triple clamps slide right into the DR frame? Or was there some fab work?
Yes they did but we needed a 10mm spacer that we ground down from the original bearing race 👍
