I am a far cry from an expert so I tend to like artists, who are able to create a connection to the " meaning " of what they are telling us. That said this kid Billie is probably one of the very first in many years ( should I say decades? ) who is able to let you feel her emotional state in such a profound way like no other out there... I actually agree with you on the term you used in your last video: lazy singing. There are too many singers out there just focusing on their voice/ vocal range and less on the content, lyrics, composition and most important: the way to identify themselves with what they sing. greetings from Germany :-)
@Vocal Lab Collective I'd go for "held back"" instead of "lazy" (ike you pointed out in the video above), cause "lazy" not only has a negative energy to it, it implies a lack of interest and effort. Well if there is one thing you can't accuse Billie of, it's a lack of effort! Otherwise I loved your reaction and assessment of this song! I *so* adore this song, I think this live version is even better than the "studio"-version (that was recorded on their tourbus!!). To me this just pips Adèle's "Skyfall"as the best Bond-song of all! Keep it up, this reaction earned you a sub. (^^,)
@@VocalLabCollective Thanks man, you should listen to her covers like Bad from Michael Jackson or The end of the world by Rob Dickinson... my gosh they are soo good it is unbelievable. Regards PS. And Yes, She will get an Oscar for this song. for that I am surre.
Billie has changed her style of singing in the last couple of years. I think she sounds great with whatever she does. I hope she will go back to her stronger voice some in the future. She said she was self conscious about it but it's unique and beautiful to me.
I love how you can hear the crowd go crazy when she belts because she NEVER belts like that. She belts, but her type of belt is much different than that.
🧡🧡🧡 I love this performance and your reaction to it! I heard her say it was team's idea to ask Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr to appear at the Brits. Billie said she loved the idea because it makes her so much less nervous to have people she knows on stage. Don't you know Zimmer and Marr liked appearing with a song they had orchestrated and Marr played on? I can't imagine being on stage with Hans Zimmer making me less nervous, but both she and Finneas talked about how good he was to work with, and that they had more input than expected into the orchestration of the song Billie seems to have the ability to connect with respect to musicians. The light and shade dynamics of this performance and the orchestration are simply wonderful!
Nice reaction. I want to introduce you to an amazing Korean singer. Sohyang is my favorite female vocalist ever. She amazed me every time and sometimes even left me crying. Besides, she's really kind and sweet. I also saw an interview that it is difficult to sing because my stomach is weak due to cancer. But she's much better now. I hope you hear her sing. there are other singers, too. so please listen comfortably without prejudice. I'd appreciate it if you could respond to sohyang`s song (All Live) ~. Had to laugh. Got to take the flak man. Calling anything lazy is generally a hostile action. True, it's a stronger term that provokes, which means it may provoke more clicks, but will turn out in lumps when hostility is shown to someone so favored. Not a surprise. Also, I get your point. Singers have to be confident, own the stage. Feel comfortable enough to put their all into the performance. I think that's what's so genius about Billie though. Confident doesn't mean bold, quiet doesn't mean timid. That's what I get from Billie and what sets her apart from so many. She crazy good at what she does, knows it so well she's confident, and doesn't need to blow your doors off to get that across.
I know you are hurt but lazy is not on the whole considered a style description it’s considered a value judgment so fans will grab pitch forks and charge the castle.
Shout out to Finneas' flawless backup vocals.

@@MasterSandman I agree. "Lazy" just has such a negative connotation to it. Which is probably why people reacted the way they did.
Effortless is the correct word I believe.

I am so loving this comment!
She sang with the LA Youth Choir for 4 years...learned technique there.
her range is epic and the production is brilint
An abstract artist still must master traditional techniques
FYI: The guitarist is Johnny Mar from the group "The Smiths" who did the them music from the original "Charmed" TV series.
Good to hear you explain her singiing talent in a moderately distanced, "objective" way.
And she did get an Oscar for this song, damn
you kind KIND of look like Daniel Craig
I dont know why i see that
Also a little Gordon Ramsay
@@user-ek9hx5yi6g is he Daniel Ramsay?
@@laineracing definitely
Ha thanks! I'll take it!
@Eero Laine
No, I see it too!
He could easily be Daniel Craig's younger brother.
Jason Craig! (^^,)
Great Jason!!
The word your looking for is breathy
Thanks for.your video!
Good reaction and breakdown!
I'm glad to see you loved our Baby Girl!

I think all music coaches are people who failed at making it big and singing on stage
