Banshee Blown Up

  • Banshee blown up. She appears to be down for the time being. The clip that holds the wristpin in the piston gave out and got caught up in the cylinder, destroying the dome, piston, and cylinder sleeve in the process. Unfortunately it looks like the banshee will need a rebuild before it can be taken on the trails again.

    Mine looked like this just worse! No top piston ring and a huge chunk out of the piston. 30 psi on that cylinder and would always back fire. Gonna rebuild it this week.

      @kennethdaeke9908 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TrailBlogger you should take a look in the manual I'm not sure if the cylinders are at an angle, but yeah on my yz250 the gap'S need to be at the bottom, because if you put it on the sides with the crank going up and down so fast the clips can compress and pop out....hope that makes sense,lol. so did the whole clip come out or just a piece broke off?

    • @trailblogger
      @trailblogger  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenneth Daeke Just a little tiny piece, maybe 1/4 of the entire clip. I might have mangled it just a little bit getting it in there or perhaps it was just a weak clip from the factory.

    Why do u run a single carb vs the dual? Just because if they get gunked up its easier to only pull one out?

    • @trailblogger
      @trailblogger  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Tsunis No it is more about the way it changes the power curve to have a faster responding throttle. I like the way it has such a responsive feel versus the dual carbs which always seemed to have a little lag/hesitation even with the carbs in tune and synced. Unless I kind of ride the clutch more it's hard to keep it in the right power band on the rocky nasty trails around here. The single carb makes it hit faster and cleaner. I do like the way the dual carbs hit on top and if the trails around here were flatter and straighter I would probably run duals again but for the enduro type trail riding we do the single is great.

      we have two banshee, ones has the dual carb setup the other I run the single carb. I enjoy the short, tight powerband for trail riding. Less hesitation and better throttle response than a dual carb setup.
