    A clear proof that having a soulful voice is more important than having a strong voice - even in hard rock genre. This band is full of charisma - from the drums to the front.

    My 2 cents: I really don't get it... I love Tool. They'll always be #1 without question. If a band comes along sounding like them, in my books, that's a good thing. A great thing. Why people feel compelled to get over-protective about anyone being influenced 'too much' by Tool to me is really strange. Listen to Soen long enough (and believe me I have overdosed already) and the similarity just fades away. This is a band of it's own. An amazing band with beautiful sounds and emotion. I think people should stop fucking moaning and start appreciating...

      Yeah I agree! I think sheepole would rather listen to justeen bieber and other generic pop these days

    • @bssniffer1337
      @bssniffer1337 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think that it is now a genre of it's own right, not sure how to call it, this cerebral, esoteric, progressive metal/rock - because of my prevalent preference to Tool, I might call it "Tool" - the genre, however I am sure there were bands before it which nurtured its existence. This genre is now being flourished towards other ways of dispersion through bands such as Soen, Socionic, Rishloo etc.
      So the main point is, I don't see a reason in arguing that something sounds like Tool, when all these seminal bands contribute to the big picture of this particular genre, I get the impression people get these random impulses involving comparison and they just act to it without no thought at all, I thought evolution is bound to minimize the degradation aspects of humanity, shame it isn't true in some cases.
      May this genius genre's longevity persist in the core of us.

      Maybe in your book, but not in my self-centered vision of reality. Please refrain from your comment and allow me to judge a band not in the quality of their music but their style alone.

    • @warrenalbrecht2428
      @warrenalbrecht2428 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diego Sheish Do what you want matey. I'm just saying there's a lot of booing and whining going on in these Soen threads and people should lighten up a bit. How about you allow me to judge the judging yes?

    The first time I met Joel, I told him he sounds a lot like James Maynard, and I meant it as a compliment... Now Joel sounds more like Joel, and it's still a compliment. Soen has created its own identity, and I'm really looking forward to listen to their upcoming album.

    Soen is slowly becoming my new favorite band. Helps that I am a massive tool fan, but I really like Soen's take on the genre. It's more pop than tool but somehow still very deep, dark and heavy. My favorite song of theirs so far is Void.

    I was one of those who lived in doubt
    I was one of those who could not accept how far
    Counting on the ones we chose will find
    There's no innocence, since we think therefore we are.
    I will fight the system, break it down and redesign it
    I don't want anything the way it's created by them
    Where is my right to choose, if all the options are theirs?
    There were some of those who told the truth
    Who before they rose all were children just like you
    Sons and daughters standing with our earth
    Shedding light on those that would bleed us, out of view.
    They show you
    I will fight the system, break it down and redesign it
    I don't want anything the way it's created by them
    Where is my right to choose, if all the options are theirs?
    We can be the system, it will turn and try to own us
    We can have everything, if we will change into them
    Now it's our time to choose, which of the options are theirs.
    Slow it down we're treading on the soil that gave us life
    Slowing down we're coming round, I'm fearing for our lives
    Ways we leave all that matter, all that we have
    Place be your trust with me.

    I can't hear Tool anymore. It's like a blend of Age of Silence meets Opeth. Regardless, Soen is Soen, and this new album kicks ass!

    We should all really be paying attention and listen to this message. We need to do better.
