A clear proof that having a soulful voice is more important than having a strong voice - even in hard rock genre. This band is full of charisma - from the drums to the front.
My 2 cents: I really don't get it... I love Tool. They'll always be #1 without question. If a band comes along sounding like them, in my books, that's a good thing. A great thing. Why people feel compelled to get over-protective about anyone being influenced 'too much' by Tool to me is really strange. Listen to Soen long enough (and believe me I have overdosed already) and the similarity just fades away. This is a band of it's own. An amazing band with beautiful sounds and emotion. I think people should stop fucking moaning and start appreciating...
I think that it is now a genre of it's own right, not sure how to call it, this cerebral, esoteric, progressive metal/rock - because of my prevalent preference to Tool, I might call it "Tool" - the genre, however I am sure there were bands before it which nurtured its existence. This genre is now being flourished towards other ways of dispersion through bands such as Soen, Socionic, Rishloo etc. So the main point is, I don't see a reason in arguing that something sounds like Tool, when all these seminal bands contribute to the big picture of this particular genre, I get the impression people get these random impulses involving comparison and they just act to it without no thought at all, I thought evolution is bound to minimize the degradation aspects of humanity, shame it isn't true in some cases. May this genius genre's longevity persist in the core of us.
Maybe in your book, but not in my self-centered vision of reality. Please refrain from your comment and allow me to judge a band not in the quality of their music but their style alone.
Diego Sheish Do what you want matey. I'm just saying there's a lot of booing and whining going on in these Soen threads and people should lighten up a bit. How about you allow me to judge the judging yes?
that intro riff is the best thing I've heard in ages. time signature changes in every bar- 5/8, 6/8, 5/8, 7/8! such a flawless progression it's bloody awesome!
I have discovered Soen in the beginning of this year and since it i can't stop to listen to them! What an awesome band. Awesome instrumental with awesome lyrics. So happy i found them.
The first time I met Joel, I told him he sounds a lot like James Maynard, and I meant it as a compliment... Now Joel sounds more like Joel, and it's still a compliment. Soen has created its own identity, and I'm really looking forward to listen to their upcoming album.
Soen is slowly becoming my new favorite band. Helps that I am a massive tool fan, but I really like Soen's take on the genre. It's more pop than tool but somehow still very deep, dark and heavy. My favorite song of theirs so far is Void.
This band quickly become one of my favorites ... dare I say even more so than Opeth. I live for the moment when the COVID shit will be over and I can enjoy either Soen, Opeth or any other metal band's concert.
Comments on every soen video : 1: They sound like tool 2: They sound like opeth SOENS DRUMMER WAS OPETHS OLD DRUMMER Soen are prog they're gonna have elements of everything. I love all 3 as equally! :D (well maybe i love tool just a little more)
Finally. I'm a huge tool fan first and then Opeth, myself but all I have seen are tool fans acting like pricks in every Soen video. Pisses me off that they bring down the name of the community.
This is BY FAR the best thing since i don't know, ages. I'm a fan of all of em. And, to me, it seems a prog rock that is very mature, creative, different and, the best part, far away from these kid stuff metal bands and 250bpm songs.
amazing work guys,3:46 , that bridge kind of part is so soothing ... this is going to sound silly but is beginning to sound like Soen and not just like a super group or a bunch of talented guys playing together. Looking foward to the new álbum !
I loved the first album so much, even though it sounded so much like tool. I hope this album doesn't get rid of that beautiful atmospheric vibe the first album had so much of though, it's what really made me enjoy the album as much as I did.
Another semi-nordic genre of metal, pretty much. Good influences to have imho, especially for those of us who were hardcore metalheads a decade ago but need something slower for our aging ears.
Loved the first album, something really grabs me about this band, really like his voice. This is far more interesting to me than opeths last few offerings.
Martin Lopez it is. I lost count on how many times I’ve listened to Ghost Reveries (2005) and the documentary about it... love Opeth and Martin’s drumming in particular
Them Chevelle and Ohm vibes (which in turns comes from Tool, but Martin Lopez is right, Tool is now a genre). Will listen to more. Nu bara måste jag ta mig en titt på Willowtree, hur har jag missat Ekelöfs röst?

Well said although big bro does have a few cannons left unfired. You'll see in November =D
Niklas Ekelöf I'm counting down the days!
Only Joel has both!
Having a strong voice is more important. Period. That's why this bald guy will not be Eddie Veder ever.
@@crusaderofunderdogs8005 this bald guy probably wants to be himself
My 2 cents: I really don't get it... I love Tool. They'll always be #1 without question. If a band comes along sounding like them, in my books, that's a good thing. A great thing. Yeah I agree! I think sheepole would rather listen to justeen bieber and other generic pop these days

Duuude, I was being sarcastic.
that intro riff is the best thing I've heard in ages. time signature changes in every bar- 5/8, 6/8, 5/8, 7/8! such a flawless progression it's bloody awesome!
It's nice to see Martin back in action
Still one of their best songs they made! Hope they will go back to this style again. The last two albums where great but this is greater!
I have discovered Soen in the beginning of this year and since it i can't stop to listen to them!
What an awesome band. Awesome instrumental with awesome lyrics. So happy i found them.

Soen is one of the best bands today! No doubts about that! Thank tou guy for the consistently amazing work!
One Punch Man will fight the system, break it down and redesign it
Ha! Thats Hilarious!
Nathan Franco Fuck Yes.
yup!
*ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!!*
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💓
Agent 47 retires from been an assassin an now he cleans the world with his voice, i love you uncle 47
Martin Lopez is still a monster on the kit. Strong Opeth and Tool influence. Love it.
What an underated band
The vocal-lines are really strong - totally digging this melancholic touch.
All I care about is hearing lopez play those facking drums! He's the greatest!
the best
FACK YES......!!!!!!!!👊🏻😂☝️
Soen is slowly becoming my new favorite band. Helps that I am a massive tool fan, but I really like Soen's take on the genre. It's more pop than tool but somehow still very deep, dark and heavy. My favorite song of theirs so far is Void.
Loving the Sandberg bass
One of the best new bands
I've regret for not searching this band early days...
2:44 that break give me an eargasm! fking amazing riffs
The drums and bass sound amazing on this track. Feelin' every beat. . .
4:15 oh my god that dog can sing!
The Soener the better !
Love this album, Love this band, Love this song.
This band quickly become one of my favorites ... dare I say even more so than Opeth. I live for the moment when the COVID shit will be over and I can enjoy either Soen, Opeth or any other metal band's concert.
Hey there random human, have you heard haken? i like their earlier work more, and give them a hour (listen to whole album) (:: cheers
Marush, I think I caught covid from Maynard back in Feb, but I wouldn't have it any other way. 😉
Am I the only one who actually get's a bit of a SoaD vibe from the emotional parts of this song? especially 4:15-4:45
not at all, there's definately a bit of serj tankian here
SieppoHovi I agree they definitely have an eastern european / Armenian vibe going on...
mostly a tool vibe I'd say, they also used to have world music influences
I don't think so, I'd say that's just the European and Middle East folklore influence.
No, more like Opeth honestly. System sounds nothing like that part.
excelente, espero con ansias este album....
I love the deep tones of this song!
i love the way they change their melody at the end of most of their songs
Semplicemente fantastici..
The man on bass guitar is amazing.
GREAT SONG, AND SPECIAL BAND!!! Can´t wait!!!!!
Goooood!! love from Barcelona 4/12/2021
I got an autograph on my ticket. This band is huge.
That riff at 0:00 reeled me in like a shark on human blood.
Jättebra!! Sverige har några spännande grupper
The last part brought tears into my eyes. Beautiful.
Am I the only one that likes the fact that they're similar to tool? There should be more bands like that
+joe cunningham Seeing that Tool hasn't done anything for a DECADE, I'm all for more bands coming up with that sound.
+Sutanu Banerji hasn"t done anytging???????? perfect circle, puscifer!
Jeremiasz Jakubik That's just Maynard and that's a different sound. Soen doesn't do the Tool sound just because of the singer.
they sound nothing like TOOL!
+Christina Fordham the lead singer is bald so obviously they do sound like tool
ghost reveries will be my favorite of all time..lopez looks good and sounds diverse as ever.
I just love SOEN.
This is amazing dope instrumentals and lyrics!
Ohh the bass lines
Comments on every soen video :
1: They sound like tool
2: They sound like opeth SOENS DRUMMER WAS OPETHS OLD DRUMMER
Soen are prog they're gonna have elements of everything. I love all 3 as equally! :D (well maybe i love tool just a little more)
+Jacob Power They have the right to say it though lol
Finally. I'm a huge tool fan first and then Opeth, myself but all I have seen are tool fans acting like pricks in every Soen video. Pisses me off that they bring down the name of the community.
Plus, Martin Lopez has always been a big fan of Tool, so there's even more of a connection there.
I thought I am the only one who think they sounded like Tool. Glad to know that someone else thinks the same.
clear inner circle. thankx!
Looking forward to listen the whole album. I saw them in Poland in 2012. It was an amazing experience. Greetings form Poland!
Nice!! The second album have soen's color , awesome!!
They have some very nice rythms, im enjoying their tripolet runs.
This is BY FAR the best thing since i don't know, ages. I'm a fan of all of em. And, to me, it seems a prog rock that is very mature, creative, different and, the best part, far away from these kid stuff metal bands and 250bpm songs.
Sounds great! I have high expectations for this album!
Buralar değerlenir
Mendez flute playing on this album is amazing
Steven Mendez plays sax..duuuh)
+Gleb Klimenko you ignorant fucks! His name is John Mendez and he plays the CELLO! Get your facts right
amazing work guys,3:46 , that bridge kind of part is so soothing ... this is going to sound silly but is beginning to sound like Soen and not just like a super group or a bunch of talented guys playing together. Looking foward to the new álbum !
The bass player kills it at the start of the song!
Slow it down, we're treading on the soil that gave us life.
Slowing down, we're coming round, I'm fearing for our life.
I loved the first album so much, even though it sounded so much like tool. I hope this album doesn't get rid of that beautiful atmospheric vibe the first album had so much of though, it's what really made me enjoy the album as much as I did.
This is like a fusion between opeth and tool?
hahahahhaha OMG YESS!!
Javier Flores yes!!!
basically - its Opeth's old drummer
Javier Flores everyone says that about this band
Another semi-nordic genre of metal, pretty much. Good influences to have imho, especially for those of us who were hardcore metalheads a decade ago but need something slower for our aging ears.
i love this band so very much
Great band!
Great stuff. cant wait to listen to the new album in its entirety. expected no less :)
Qué trabajazo el de la batería! López!!!
Loved the first album, something really grabs me about this band, really like his voice. This is far more interesting to me than opeths last few offerings.
Tool Opeth.. this is SOEN and its ridiculously good
Fantastic!
The sound mix does not make justice to this awesome band.
Is that the drummer from Opeth?
+DarkMedicine Yep, Martin Lopez
yes it is our god of drumming! So sad he left Opeth but happy to see he is still putting out great songs!
Made in Uruguay!!
uruguay nomaaaa
Martin Lopez it is. I lost count on how many times I’ve listened to Ghost Reveries (2005) and the documentary about it... love Opeth and Martin’s drumming in particular
BADASS BAND!!!
I miss Steve Digiorgio but the music still being amazing!
I enjoyed the video.
And the music too.
Good job people.
magnifique
Spécial Band (y) Their Music is a Mirror of people's Life .
first time hearing them last night, instant fan
¡¡EXCELLENT!!
Waiting for your concert in Chile next year (2022)
awesomeee!!!!!
If anyone is wondering what the title means, its "Taste Buds"
Having the best eargasm right now.
The riff from 2:16 sounds similar to Opeth songs like When and The Leper Affinity
Finally they didn't sound like Tool. They found they own sound. Very nice.
Actually they did sound a little bit like Tool,at least for me they did...
***** Not anymore.
Who said that sounding like Tool is such a bad thing?
I dont know.I personally like that they sound like Tool and perhaps a little bit like SOAD...
Just before reading this comment I was thinking "they sound a bit like Tool", so...
This band is just amazing
Love soen
Great!
I love Tool, love Soen, That remains an excellent band compared to the tool or not
Great musicians, fantastic song.
I will see you in Portland, Oregon
funny thing is that at first I was really curious about the bands instrumental, but it was the vocal lines that caught me up
every song is a different world, a different journey.
Listening to their first song. Hope to listen them more often. Also, the vocalist looks a bit like Maynard James.
Them Chevelle and Ohm vibes (which in turns comes from Tool, but Martin Lopez is right, Tool is now a genre). Will listen to more.
Nu bara måste jag ta mig en titt på Willowtree, hur har jag missat Ekelöfs röst?
Been listening to it all day long.
the best!!
Tremendous song!
Awesome tune, they're definietly getting the'r own sound, looking forward to the album :)
belli cazzuti. Bravi!
Temazo
Notevoli!

I'd say maybe you should have done this or that, but overall, AWESOME
Buenísima hermano!!
Great Album, Great Song !
Easily my favorite music video
I can't hear Tool anymore. It's like a blend of Age of Silence meets Opeth. Regardless, Soen is Soen, and this new album kicks ass!
We should all really be paying attention and listen to this message. We need to do better.
