For the longest time I neglected this entire album in favor of Soen's newer songs. Over this past summer, I corrected that mistake. From start to finish, Tellurian is just incredible.
"they sound like this band.. they sound like that band" WHO CARES they sound great and thats the only thing of importance.
This was 3 years ago but it still holds up.
Personnaly I care about the fact Soen grooves like Meshuggah :D (nah, i didn't even talked about Tool..aw shi' here we go again)
With a pure hint of best drummer Opeth knew in my opinion (and I freakin admire Axenrot aka Legolas tho)
It make this band perfect in it own way, that's what matter

No, the fact that ppl keep bitching means that the band is in reality stealing in a lazy way their influences. How easily can you tell what influenced Tool or Katatonia or Anathema? Really hard to trace their influences because they actually made something creative. Of course you could argue that they all stole from 70s prog, but their sound was actually very refreshing and metal influenced. These genres have sadly reached their peak years ago and now its a downfall of mediocre bands. Check my band if you want a to hear a second chance for rock, it’s called Thus Unspoken.

This album is so underrated. Especially Pluton. They closed the comments under Pluton but let me tell you it might be the most underrated Soen song.

One of my favorite bands since Congnitive, but Tellurian is just perfect, the sound they were looking for. They gave Prog Metal a new air.

Ricardo Aguilera I've listened to Tool in the last years, they are genious, but they are dead. Cognitive has a lot of Tool influence, but Tellurian is more original.

I hear a lot of similarities to Tesseract's "Altered State" sound throughout the whole song - not even getting close to the their genius though. Don't know the rest of "Tellurian" that much yet, but would have appreciated a more distinct style. I do have to say that I like the sound of Soen's early stuff better than the more recent releases.

Tool is heavily influenced from King Crimson, The Melvin's, Pink Floyd plus others of course. Pink Floyd is not just music, but they are their own genre in my opinion. Same with Tool! So who cares if a great band is influenced by another band. I don't!! Pink Floyd & Tool are my favorite bands and it makes me so happy to hear bands like Soen who actually remind of both my favorite bands plus various artists. It's just great fucking prog music and I dig these guys a great deal now. I really hope they catch a leg tour somewhere in the States soon.
Sorry, as a long time Tool fan their lyrics are shallow compared to Soen.

I dont understand the people who is conviced this band is kind of a "tool tribute band". I can hear Soen playing not Tool. maybe you always got tool in your mind (couse this shit never happend to me(8) :D ). I live in Argentina ,here you always have to pull apart the shit and its exciting to found something good to hear.
My point is, Mayner would be disapponted of the people making tool a Dogma, a god, a religion. try to understand Soens point of view. Everyone here like tool because we think like them. why soen should have an other? and you have to know How many GOOD COMMENTS have tool in the first album.

Its so stupid when people compare tool to any prog metal...wake up tons of metal band that played beautiful prog construction are waaay before tool. The only reason tool are known, or that dick weed lead, is because it is an american band...aweful! The more you compare them, the more you will expect something. I went into their first album, not even knowing who they were, and just listened. I frankly think that's how most people should listen to a band for the first time.
