- Welcome to Ultimate Adventure 2023, presented by RealTruck, the best-known and most revered off-road adventure trip in the world. This year UA2023 kicks off the biggest, baddest trip in its 24-year history at Rock Run Recreation Area in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. And it only gets more intense from here!
Since 1999, Ultimate Adventure has been the world's best and longest-running off-road adventure trip of its kind. Participants meet in a different location each year with highly modified 4x4 vehicles equipped to tackle the toughest trails in the nation over a grueling 1,000-plus mile trek held over seven days. But as a double-whammy there are no trailers allowed, so in addition to insane off-road prowess, these crazy trucks, Jeeps, and 4x4s must be able to eat up the road miles as well as the obstacles. All this and the necessity to carry everything needed to live in the bush for a week on end. Nobody but Christian Hazel and Trent McGee know where they're going or what bucket-list locations they'll visit. It's the ultimate test of man and machine, team-building camaraderie, and human as well as mechanical endurance. It's the Ultimate Adventure!

Motortrend give us full length unedited videos! These videos are great but so short and dont show nearly enough crawling. Most people watching want to see the wheeling!

@HarrySituations on the onx offroad build series I built it using Froelich's doubler kit. It's a weld together similar to D&D machines back in the pirate days👍
Bleepin Jeep Colt And Matt are fresh off of OnX build Challange and the Win and thats my Boys. Ive seen the whole build and series. They are both Rock Crawlers and Master Fabricators and dam solid Off-roaders. You can never beat that team EVER !! ❤

Got to see everyone passing my atv group by on the main lines there that day at Rock Run. I've read the magazine since middle school and this was a life long dream fulfilled to see ultimate adventure out on the trail. I had some carnage myself when I ripped off the plow mount on my Teryx on a black trail.

I can appreciate the whole break/fix/ride/repeat thing. Even if it gets old.
And too the 'send-it' attitude of the drivers and their builds.
However, wouldn't a true adventure equate to actually feeling the need to inject some intelligence into the mix so that reaching the destination is paramount? And by that I mean a multi-day trip into a real wilderness, where there is no support beyond what is brought with by competitors and staff.
No gas stations.
No hotels.
No restaurants.
Anyone who breaks their rig and is unable to fix it on trail has to be towed along by other competitors to the finish.
Anyone who miscalculated their fuel must be towed along to the finish.
Anyone who simply built an unsustainable rig for such conditions must face the tow of shame to the finish.
Make mistakes cost.
Make the consequences real.
To the extent that the rig is buried where it dies even.
Now THAT would be the ultimate in adventure.
Didnt the UA videos used to be like 45 mins not 15?
Yup. The last few years it's been trimmed down to videos mostly under 10 minutes and 8 min is intros or ads. Very little trail footage now.

Actually met one of the nicest PA troopers in the world, great guy that not only arranged for a police escort out of town (the good kind) but gave Christian and I cards to help with any future issues within the state. Fortunately we never had to use them.
