I had to stop this video at 9:30 just to comment about you commenting about siting your home. In my humble opinion, it is the most important thing you can do. One can add so much to the outside of a home that just doesn't matter when inside. Give me a view or in my case, light. For ourselves, being in Southwest Michigan, the gun metal gray of winter is oppressive. When the Wife and I built the second home on our property, in heavily wooded acreage, we sited it so the light (when it shows) floods the home. Because our prevailing winds in winter come from the NW or an Alberta clipper from the west, that is where all the unheated space is with one window. Getting your home site sorted also helps so much with heating and cooling. Thanks for your all's work. I now have to plan to order propane, prepare to clean gutters of leaves, run snow fence, put the blade on the ATV. pay taxes....and so on.
Congrats... I built my 1st home when my 3 kids were under 10. They're all pushing 40 yrs old now & the grandkids stay in the same rooms their parents grew up in... All my kids have said that house is like coming home every time ... The acreage has a creek that runs thru it . On one side we cut hay , raised 4H stock & built the barn. On the other is woods that has always been fun for the kids... Memories are about to be made for a lifetime..
It's probably too late but I would dump all of the stairs you can. I will be 80 in a couple of days and I only have two steps in the house, two to the sunroom and one into the garage. So I have around 2400 square feet on one level and now I thank the day..Stu

My wife and I are 66 , we collect cars ,sell cars and I own a very large body shop in MA ... hard work and a drive is what makes things happen ... we live in central MA and have a beach house on the water in N.Truro cape cod .. Rules to go by during construction. 1. Do not change your mind 2. Rooms change size visually during framing and then when the drywall is up, don’t move walls. 3. Do not pick yellow for a paint color 4. Pick the best roofing material you can afford. 5. Spend money on the kitchen, that is where you will spend most of your time. 6. Install insulated overhead garage doors. 7. Install maintenance free siding. 8. Install the most efficient HVAC system you can.

The ICF blocks are the best way to go right now until they come up with something better. I have the east basement wall goes to ground level and the rest is ICF and the basement is so easy to heat. I don't think I want to build another home myself again, enjoyed remodeling houses and building new over the years but I have done enough. I hope your house is full of kids sounds for years and your grandkids get to enjoy the home also. Stay safe and healthy.

i was at epic in verona wisconsin today pouring a 180 yard footing with a 62 meter pump truck biggest pump in wisconsin
