@@00Kuja00 The bit about Tolkien giving Lee his blessing to play Gandalf is an urban legend. Christopher Lee was at a pub with some friends, one of whom knew Tolkien. Tolkien happened to walk in, came to say hello to Christopher Lee's friend. Christopher Lee was starstruck and stammered "how do you do?". Apparently, that's the only interaction the two ever had.
6:10 What I love about this moment is that. In any other movie like Star Wars, where the villain henchmen try to explain to their leader why they’re not making any progress. The henchmen just either get killed or abused into getting things done quicker(basically being told to just figure it out). While here Saruman calmly and wisely addresses y the issue and gives them advise that actually helps them. Wich makes sense cause why would you want to get rid of the people in charge of your operation just for a mistake that’s out of their control. Saruman may be a bad guy, but he’s a good boss. 👍🏼
This remembered me of my big childhood crush on Saruman. Such a fascinating character ! I already had a huge admiration for him when I read the books for the first time, and Christopher Lee's interpretation brings a lot to this character, my favorite in all Tolkien's works !
Christopher Lee's resume: Saruman Bond villain Sith Lord Dracula Rasputin Sherlock Holmes oh, and it's possible he killed Nazis while serving in the military. GOAT.
@TomBrennan183 he didnt want to become a new dark lord. He wanted to find the ring so that he could have the power to industrialise and "progress" the people of middle earth through the lore that he had studied
Saruman sit broken hearing his own last thoughts, take all your resources and throw them at your enemies using Rohan as escelation to build an army. Is later backstabbed by this enemy he fought since he had seen his own death by the hand of a man from Rohan.
The extended versions should perhaps be considered the real ones, but really have to agree with Christopher Lee on Peter Jackson erring in removing the Isengard closure from The Return of the King.
I love it when fantasy creatures say, "man flesh", it's so funny when they say it, like a spooky wizard that really loves what he does, just love to see Saruman laugh jolly and dance on piles of corpses.
To be fair chain link fencing had been around since the 1800s. Isengard having it does sorta make sense considering it represents Tolkien's negative view on the industrial revolution. Although, I never noticed this detail before you pointed it out lol
@@thosko98 your reply made me rewatch the clip and now I see the aerial shot before shows a completely different planting design for the park with more trees and some shrubs and no fence. Then when it cuts to the ground view, those trees have vanished and a fence has appeared. I wonder if that was a real park where they shot it, and then never got around to editing out the fence. If this shot even appeared in the theatre release? The park isnt even colour corrected to match the tower in that shot. It looks like raw footage.
I’ve never understood who enjoys watching clips from their favorite movies with half the dialog cut out. Apparently in cinematography, “scene” has a much narrower meaning than in common parlance… but still, wouldn’t you rather see Saruman’s conversations with other characters? Rather than just every time Christopher Lee was on screen
the vids get taken down by TH-cam if you don't chop it up. If you want the whole thing you need to mess with the audio and put watermarks all over it to stop the AI from detecting the movie scenes.
Fun Fact: Christopher Lee is the only lotr actor to have met JRR Tolkien in real life.
We know and Tolkien gave Lee his blessings to play Gandalf if there would ever be a movie...
@@00Kuja00Lee did play Gandalf however, when he trolled the three hunters with the voice of Saruman!
@@TheLazyFusspot_3428 I think he played Gandalf in a radio version of LotR. I might be mistaken...

Isengard looked like a beautiful park
And then it became a industrial hell
Thats literally what was happening in England at the time Tolkien hated industrialization
@@alfieogden i know
And word "literally" is over-used
@@patrik9328 cool
It was originally built to protect Gondor’s border.
But wasnt the worst industrialization happened in late 19 century? Things like child labor, marx and stuff

I've been looking forward to this
Well said
Yes, you can Exchange their dialogues and you can create an opera magna 😂
Saruman's expression when Grima was approaching the explosive mine with the candle while he was throwing powder 😂😂
Yeah that scene cracks me up every time!
Christopher Lee was phenomenal.
R.I.P. Christopher Lee
he is a cool bad guy but he is because he is played by Sir Christopher Lee.

Christopher Lee was highlight of the Trilogy! Saruman’s extended edition scenes are superb, particularly this one @ 5:50 😈🔮

GOAT.
He was an elite commando during WW2......"possible"?
He did kill German soldiers. Probably many of them. I’m sure he didn’t brag about it for a reason. Quite a tragic line of work.
He was also a dentist.
He was also the doctor in Gremlins 2
Sad Saruman got so scared that he wanted to join Sauron. He lost all hope, and became mad.
Nah he wanted the ring for himself and become the new dark lord

My favorite LOTR villain
Same, i actualy like him more than Sauron
0:05 I love how Isengard has a modern day chain post fence
You could easily make chains and poles like that back then
chains have existed since roman times lol.
I don't think fences like those are necessarily a modern day phenomenon
Saruman has a better designed robe than Gandalf the White's robe, in my opinion
Remember Saruman of many colours?
Much better!
The cut is much better. Not clumsy like Gandalf's, and the robe makes the figure more slender and taller.
Saruman was way ahead fashion wise
Saruman worked from home well before covid

Gandalf the white,Gandalf the FOOL!!!😂😂😂
Fact Check: Sauron DID have a physical form at that time. And Grizzly Adams DID have a beard.

Christopher Lee was of course a huge Tolkien fanboy who originally wanted to play Gandalf.
I cant believe youtube let you post the entire trilogy unedited like this
That watermark is needed so we all know you directed the lord of the rings :)

it seems saruman cloth gets more grey when gandalf the white apears

The video would be good if you didnt cut it so much. I was going to subscribe but i cant because too much cuts.

What is the point of cutting scenes apart to just include the parts with a certain character?
