Polomar Knot is hands down the most secure and easiest knot to tie. Knot failures happen to the best of fisherman. Use a surgeons knot for connecting braid to mono. Quality line and tackle make for better fishing, especially in a yak.

Friendly suggestion to prevent loss of fish: Double circle knot with Spider Wire. You will never lose a fish to a failed knot again. Your technique looks great. You just need better line and better knot.

Good call trying to fish the outgoing tide. Having lived in the Lowcountry for years, I have consistent luck with outgoing tides, less so with incoming tides. Keep up the great vids!

Hey Rich, next time you launch here you need to fish the launch side of the dock you were on at min 9 - it's usually stacked with reds... and work the docks the opposite way you went from there too, almost always produce. The least I can say to thank you for all your videos!

Believe it or not, pier fishing central California we just happened to bring along night crawlers. We tried them out and caught fish pretty quick! I suppose they squirm in the salt water and die in a few minutes providing a lot of motion. They lasted only a few minutes. Just a note of interest, but it really surprised us.

Put the line through the eye of the hook and then pull about 2 inches through and pinch the line end against the main line making a loop around the hook. Twist the hook to add wraps to the line at least five times then feed it through the tiny opening below the wrapped line you should now see a tiny loop above the wrapped line take the free end and pass it through this second loop. Then tighten the main not before pulling on the tail end again to tighten loop. After you tie this knot a few times it will become muscle memory and it never ever lets go the line breaks first.

I tie uni-knots all the time but I was just being lazy after fishing all day and not checking my knots or just using a clinch because I fished aaa lot of hours.

Yeah so far it’s a good reel. Actually dropped it in the water in St Augustine by accident(I can be a klutz) and it’s still working really well.

I have had a guard for a couple months and I’ve dropped it in the sand and dunked it a bunch of times and still smooth as butter those 13 seals really help it.

I hope you didn’t use that little redfish for bait

I didn’t, I couldn’t catch anything on a couple minnows that I tried so then I gave up dumped the bait and the DOA started working so that was good.
