Finally, I found the quietest skimmer available, Simplicity 240DC

I've been on the search for a quiet reef skimmer. The Reef Octopus I had prior was very loud at times. At night it would wake us up. I searched around and found the Simplicity 240DC. Did it live up to the hype? In this video we also discuss a serious issue with Poppy the puffer.

I was actually in the market for a Reef Octopus. I wanted to get one of the beginners protein skimmers and everyone is sold out even Amazon. I've been seeing more of this Simplocity brand showing up even on FB for a give away and just saw them selling on Amazon... I will put this on my list along with the Aquamaxx and Eshopps.

I have the same octopus running currently. The thing is dead silent and skims like crazy. I don’t like the big footprint and it does kind of lean to the side the pump hangs off of. But I guess not every single one is gonna run the exact same. I also attached an air hose to the silencer and ran it away from the tank and near a window for fresh air, maybe that helps with the noise

You have to adjust the air up. Turn the small nob on top of the aire silencer.

The serious problem I have with the simplicity 320 is every few minutes a large bubble come out from under the bubble diffuser and goes all the way up the neck and ruins the smooth laminar flow into the cup. Tried a number of ideas to stop it and still cannot.
This may only be an issue with the 320...

I have found one issue and that’s the white plastic piece collecting with salt. It clogs the air line and prevents bubbles. This needs to be maintained to keep system working

@@btuff I had mine fall off(venturi) That was causing the salt to leak in. I used JB WELD marine and that fixed it perfectly. Personally very impressed with the pump as very heavy and quality but the bubble thing wrecked the ability to use.
