His staff can change its size if there is someone strong enough to wield it. Not even the previous owner, a dragon king, that he defeated, was able to hold or carry it. It was there that Wukong gets his gears. His golden garb and ringed crown included. But over time, people forgot where they came from and just make stories of him already having them without telling us where they came from.
Wukong is no joke. I've read what must be an abridged version of "Journey to the West" and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even totally OP and as massively egotistical as he is, he's still a hugely entertaining character. There's a reason China and HK keep making movies about him!

Lil side note he’s achieved immortality so many times it’s dumb. He stole an entire supply of wine from a festival in heaven would make him immortal when right before that he ate an entire grove of divine peaches that also would’ve made him immortal. After the wine he ate divine pellets so he wouldn’t be so drunk and those pellets also can make you immortal. Anything remotely cool or interesting he would just steal or consume without hesitation. @The Charred One Wukong is literally immortal, a cauldron specifically used to remove immortality only made him more powerful and it also removed his remaining mortality. The Chinese novel also goes out of its way to tell you that these items he consumed granted him immortality each. On top of that by the end of the epic he achieves nirvana, which is boundlessness in Buddhism.

When I was a kid, I always watched these Sun Wukong live actions on my TV in China and I absolutely loved the character, it’s a funny character that’s op but gets limited by his own team.
Did you see Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons? Thats a pretty good movie,its technically a prequel and it uses some pretty divergent character interpretations. Sun Wukong is the primary villain. Its a lot of fun.

@@user-Void-Star its a Light Novel basically there are different beings called “Constellations” from different myths from different stories. Sun Wukong is one of the Strongest Constellations in the story and his modifiers are “Prisoner of the Golden Headband, Most Ancient Liberator and The Great Sage of Heaven’s Equal”. Its a pretty interesting Novel totally recommended.
He was also able to lift mount Sumeru, which supports the entire physical, metaphysical and spritiual cosmology of buddhism. So yeah, infinite strength.
There is some inconsistency with regards to his strength. At the beginning of the novel, he was strong enough to cause some damage in Heaven and even when caught, they couldn't execute him. When he joined the pilgrimage, he was somewhat much weaker (maybe 600 years buried under the five fingered mountain have atrophied his strength) and had to rely on the help of other deities when confronted with certain demons during the journey.
Is because in the journey he is not allowed to kill, he must restrain his strength and defeat his enemies without killing them, because Tang Sanzang as his master has turned him into buddhism and so they do not kill

I grew up on the story of 'Journey to the west' and I've read a lot of fiction and comics and Sun Wukong is by far the most powerful being ever created besides Tathakata himself.

Sun wukong is lvl 8, the jade emperor, buddha and guanying is lvl 9, and fuwa, fuxi, nuwa, and pangu are at least lvl 10 if not breaking the limit to lvl11. Plus remember that wukong was born out of a rock from nuwa.

Journey to the West is also an allegory for enlightenment and basically a play by play for each step to enlightenment. The five members of the main group are each an embodiment of the human psyche (monkey: mind, Tripitaka: heart, dragon: will, etc, etc,)

Sun Wukong on the other hand while mischievous and a troublesome fella, he did lead and governed an entire kingdom of monkeys as his people to lived and rule. He also teach them how to fight so that when he's not around, they're at least could handle themselves for the time being. Not just an expert in martial arts and authority. He did learn many things beside fighting.

I love wukong because they made him ungodly broken but he still often gets beat around not through strength but because they cleverly use wukong's personality against him. Wukong in a street fight could pretty much beat anybody however because he has a massive ego he's really easy to exploit and often that's what gets him in trouble and I just love the intelligence behind that. Same reason I like Heracles, Heracles was pretty much unbeatable in combat and only was able to be defeated through trickery

I’m by no means an expert on Buddhism, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Buddhahood is becoming one with the Buddha, basically getting all of his powers.
Yes, it just splits into the 3 bodies at the end, but all buddhas keep their characteristics of their life since that's why they became buddhas in the first place.
Buddahood is essentially achieving oneness with the universe as a whole. It's the breaking of the cycle of immortality which Buddhisms states to be fundamentally painful. Once you are a Buddha (enlightened one) you are no longer reincarnated but eternal and beyond life. You are the universe and the universe is you.

In the story itself, there is 2 heavenly general that are as powerful as sun wukong, maybe you could do a video about them too. nezha, and Erlang, both of which have their own story as well, in the earlier timeline of the story investiture of the god. in that story, you learn more about the background of most of the god working in the 9 heaven.
Yeah, this is pretty accurate, even Saitama from one punch man would have a stupidly hard time trying to fight him, mostly because Sun Wu Kong doesn't pull his punches (unless the person isn't worth killing), would make clones of himself and would proceed to knock Saitama back and forth constantly, Saitama would be like a pinball and Sun Wu Kong would be like a pinball machine that hits it harder everytime the ball makes contact until Saitama either has had enough or dies, (Not sure if that's possible even though he is or was human?) Also, the original Sun Wu Kong would beat the crap out of all of his remakes from cartoons or anime at the same time, that includes Jin Mori, Goku, Rwby's vertion, the 3d animated one, the "live action" one, any of 2D animated ones, and even lego monkey kid's one which funny enough gets the most right about him out of all the above.

His staff can change its size if there is someone strong enough to wield it. Not even the previous owner, a dragon king, that he defeated, was able to hold or carry it. It was there that Wukong gets his gears. His golden garb and ringed crown included. But over time, people forgot where they came from and just make stories of him already having them without telling us where they came from.

Did you see Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons? Thats a pretty good movie,its technically a prequel and it uses some pretty divergent character interpretations. Sun Wukong is the primary villain. Its a lot of fun.

Kid goku was basically a knowable distinguished reskined wu kong. He's not as in depth as other inspired characters but he does have the base valued things common people know about wu kong...

Its a pretty interesting Novel totally recommended.

There is some inconsistency with regards to his strength. At the beginning of the novel, he was strong enough to cause some damage in Heaven and even when caught, they couldn't execute him. When he joined the pilgrimage, he was somewhat much weaker (maybe 600 years buried under the five fingered mountain have atrophied his strength) and had to rely on the help of other deities when confronted with certain demons during the journey.

To be fair, "equal to heaven" may even be an understatement considering the fact that he almost defeated the entirety of heaven. Hell, it took Erlang Shen, possibly the most powerful warrior god, to battle him to a stand-still.

Sun wukong is lvl 8, the jade emperor, buddha and guanying is lvl 9, and fuwa, fuxi, nuwa, and pangu are at least lvl 10 if not breaking the limit to lvl11. Plus remember that wukong was born out of a rock from nuwa.

Some people said the story was too shit on taoism and to promote buddhism, but Wukongs abilities were literally taught to him through taoism.
I love wukong because they made him ungodly broken but he still often gets beat around not through strength but because they cleverly use wukong's personality against him.
Wukong in a street fight could pretty much beat anybody however because he has a massive ego he's really easy to exploit and often that's what gets him in trouble and I just love the intelligence behind that.

Buddahood is essentially achieving oneness with the universe as a whole. It's the breaking of the cycle of immortality which Buddhisms states to be fundamentally painful. Once you are a Buddha (enlightened one) you are no longer reincarnated but eternal and beyond life. You are the universe and the universe is you.

In the story itself, there is 2 heavenly general that are as powerful as sun wukong, maybe you could do a video about them too.
nezha, and Erlang, both of which have their own story as well, in the earlier timeline of the story investiture of the god. in that story, you learn more about the background of most of the god working in the 9 heaven.
Nezha was no were near as strong as sun wukong. He was easily defeated by sun. Erlang however was through his equal.
