      What about the 16 GB firmware?
      I'm assuming it's the same thing without ROMs.
      If so why not just install the 16 GB onto a 16 GB card and ROMs into the other secondary SD card?

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never touched that as the buying options for the SP starts with the 64GB. But yes you're right, you could just have the software on 1 card. I've also learned the 64GB card that comes with it is a reliable brand from Toshiba, so that can still be used. But definitely don't keep any of the black ones for expanded storage

  • @SteeScribbles

    The Kioxia cards are safe to use and keep, they used to be a memory centric spin-off of TOSHIBA but rebranded to a different name in 2019. It's the black unbranded cards that you need to watch out for! Good video, by the way!

    As I’ve said times before, I’ve STILL hadn’t picked up an emulation handheld. Happy birthday!! I got mine yesterday, but retroarch is so difficult for me. I've been watching videos and still only understand basically what I already figured out myself. There's so many menus and options. Plus all the files that dont need to be seen. Like just alot, i hope I can grasp it and customize to my liking soon. Spent the last 2 days trying to get it set up. Also how do you get the gameroom/ RA game folder to read card? Mine are always empty, so I have to use retroarch itself. Just wish it was not so difficult for somethimg that should be plug and play. I love clamshells and would like to get this working to play. Also the touch power button to analog does not work for me. I also mapped the d pad to the analog controls for n64. But it unfortunately does not work for me. Does any of this become second nature.

    Why can’t you tell us how to add games to the device?! I’m terrible with computers is it’s all difficult I’d love to see a video on it.

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because it's a legal grey area. You can legally make a copy of games you have purchased, for your own personal use. But adding games without going through that process is illegal distribution. If I make a video showing people how to add games to devices, it opens up potential issues with adding games they haven't purchased that could put my channel at risk

      @ArAsDeCos the legal way to emulate is to purchase/own the actual physical game, then make a digital copy of it for your own personal use only. That's the general rule, but it can be different depending on where you're from

    The latest firmware release only exists in uts 16GB version and doesn't include stock ROMS. It reduces the main 64GB card to a mere 2GB volume. I have a second 128GB card, which I copy/pasted the old content onto, but in Gameroom or RetroArch, it doesn't give me the possibility to chose TF1 or TF2 anymore. And I obviously can't put the ROMS on the TF1 because it's only 2GB now. Is there a solution to this? Either make the TF2 recognizable or update the new firmware and include the old ROMS? Or just switch to muOS…?

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      muOS is definitely better. I have a couple of guides on installing it then updating it. But you'll lose Bluetooth functionality. If you want to keep the stock updates, I'd say just keep a copy of your old games & bios files, then update the stock OS, then put your game files back on it. But their firmware update not letting you chose the cards is strange. I'd rather muOS personally

    • @taratantara
      @taratantara 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@batpixel I went for muOS. I only play GBA games and don't really need bluetooth functionality. muOS is indeed quite simpler to install and boots faster. And a single 128GB card is sufficient. I'll keep the other one to try GarlicOS. Thanks!

      You don’t really need to choose between TF1 and TF2 as 1 should only be used for the OS and it automatically connects to 2 where all of your games should be. I’m using a 64gb for 1 and 128 for 2 because there’s not enough games out there that are actually enjoyable to justify having a 256gb card tbh.

    what do you mean about "losing all that extra space" when talking about the 128 gb card? like does it somehow change the card and decrease its storage? or just that its gonna have space that wont be used?

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It decreases it's storage capacity with the image installed on it. You can always format it to get your space back, but if you install the software you won't be able to use the extra space. I've tried many attempts using different softwares to expand and merge the extra space, but nothing would work

    I'm trying to remap the buttons on my 8BitDo M30 controller via Bluetooth to play fighting games like SFIII (thankfully it has HDMI out), but because the controller doesn't have analogue sticks I get stuck part way through the process. Have you been able to do this? Also will yours play Sega super-scaler arcade ROMS such as Powerdrift or Thunder blade?

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Keep this in mind: The SP buttons are setup as a controller as 'port 1' and it is assigned to player 1 in the Quick Menu of RetroArch. So if I add a controller like you're doing.. I setup the controller as 'Port 2' and then assign that port to player 1 (I set the SP 'port 1' as player 2)
      I made a video (one of my first videos last year) about mapping a 6 button Sega Genesis controller in RetroArch. You should check that out. I used Mortal Kombat on Sega to confirm it was mapped properly. It's basically a 2 step process.. you have to map the controller buttons in the main RetroArch menus, then map it out for a specific game in the Quick Menu in RetroArch. You can save the controls for the entire Sega emulator by saving core overrides.
      My Sega button video is pretty old, so this video above ^ shows a clearer way to actually save the controls. But mapping should still be the same
      I never tried any super-scaler ROMS before

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The handheld should stay as Port 1. Setup your 8BitDo controller as Port 2. Then, set "Player 1" as Port 2. After that, set "Player 2" as Port 1.
      This will mean the handheld is "Player 2" and it can be used for the menus. Always keep the handheld as Port 1

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The SP itself is setup as 'port 1' and external controllers get detected as 'port 2' and 'port 3' in retroarch. So I usually change 'player 1 controls' as 'port 2' and then 'player 2 controls' as 'port 1'
      This makes the SP player 2. That way your controller is player 1 and they both still work for me. I use the SP to navigate the menus

    • @batpixel
      @batpixel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your 128GB card likely has all the games you want. I just reccomend people to backup both cards in case they're missing any files when they do the update, such as save files. And of course if something goes wrong. When it comes to games, I personally just transfer my games I actually play instead of using up space from others

      So I got myself a RG35XX recently. A friend of mine started playing it. So I showed her this and she yelled out "I loved the Gameboy SP!"

    12:58 it does not have a 64 zip file, only 16

      It seems like since my tutorial, they started only releasing 16GB software updates, which should be fine if you're using a 2nd SD card for your games. You'd think they would keep 64GB options available for future updates 🤔

      You should flash it with the 64GB firmware. You can contact Anbernic customer service and they will link you to the file. They took down the 64GB links on their website. Use Rufus to flash it

      Thank you! It sounds like your unit may be defective? You could try doing the software update to see if it fixes anything. You should be able to do a return for a new one if you need to. Also, try watching some RetroArch guides on TH-cam they can be very helpful. I read about it on Reddit too

      @batpixel You're welcome, thank you for the fast reply. I hope it's not defective. I'll see what I can do. I did update and download the latest firmware. I just can't get the D pad to emulate joystick and I don't see anything showing up under RA folder. I have to go into the Retroarch app itself. It be a bummer to have to send it back. Would I just message the company I bought it from or contact Anbernic themselves? Everything else appears to work. I can play games when I do load them. I just have a learning curve ahead of me lol. But those where the two things I don't have out of the box. Is the RA folder is just empty and the analog option. I'll keep looking around, but also try sending a message to Anbernic maybe before it gets to late.

      I'd say contact whoever you bought it from
