If you already have the Google home why the heck are you here. He's simply reviewing how it functions, how can he do that without showing how it works.
With their batteries, it seems like the Link 10 and Link 20 are great for backyard parties, and you could have the same music playing on all of our indoor/outdoor units through Chromecast. You could also control all speakers if you're outside with your voice.
I got my dad the JBL Link 10 for his bedroom! And I gotta say it has a VERY nice sound quality, he's streamed a baseball game on it and my goodness it feels like you're in the stadium. And I agree that not including the wall charger with it is a big mistake to make, I have to use my old Samsung Galaxy Tab 4's USB wall adapter in order to plug it in.
So the link 10 seems to be called link portable in the UK? I received mine today and it has a dock to sit on. I must say I the sound isn’t quite as good as I hoped. Still happy with it.
You shouldn't have to provide your own charger and cable but most people have a drawer full of them by now so I doubt that's much of an issue for a lot of people. I bought Link 20 as a Google Home alternative that can double as a Bluetooth speaker on the go. If you look at it like that, 10 hours battery looks pretty good against Google Home with no battery. I can move it around my home and yard without needing to keep it plugged in which is great. The inability to pair 2 speakers over Bluetooth is irrelevant to me because I use the far superior speaker group system over wifi at home and wouldn't bother taking 2 with me on the go anyway. The auto power off when not plugged in and not in use can be annoying, I'd rather have an option to just let it stay on and run flat a bit quicker but no other issues here, love it.
Is it possible to setup these JBL as a sound bar for my TV?? If so how would I do that if my TV has a Chromecast plugged in? And no my TV does not have BT or wifi built in
I don't think so, your Chromecast can't cast out, only in and the Link 20 can only receive Bluetooth audio or from internet music service. The Link 20 can't be paired with other speakers over Bluetooth either, only over wifi.
Thanks for an honest review. . .got JBL pulse 3 instead of link 20 because of Audio-Video sync problem....nevertheless the sound quality is great. . . will be enjoying this a lot for a long time.
You should do the newer JBL link music (non portable) I have only found one decent review of that speaker and I want to purchase one for my office at work. Love your videos! Keep it up
Great review, very informative. I was wondering however, can the link speakers be left plugged in without harming the battery? In regards to the pesky wifi light, you could always slap a small square of electrical tape over it. 👍
Don't take this as gospel, but I think you can definitely leave them plugged in without worry. These devices are almost guaranteed to have lithium ion batteries in them. From what I found, the ideas of not leaving rechargeable devices plugged in, battery memory, charge cycling, and charging things before using them etc. are all left over from older/dumber nickel cadmium, lead acid, and other older battery technologies. Lithium ion batteries have circuitry that will only allow the battery to receive a charge when it needs to, and also regulates the current it receives while charging. So, as far as I can tell these can be left plugged in with no damage to the battery. The speaker will be powered but either cut the current to the battery or trickle charge it when it's full.
"Together" by 3rd Prototype. I was wondering the same thing. I ended up putting the video on my computer and then using the soundhoud app on my phone to get the name of the song
Why is it that nobody ever mentions in these JBL Link reviews that you CANNOT MAKE PHONE CALLS THROUGH THE GOOGLE HOME because JBL won’t update the firmware version to support the calling feature. So sad man such a deal breaker! Anybody know any other good suggestions??
dominique james I am able to make phone calls if my phone is connected to the Bluetooth speaker only via Bluetooth. If I try to make calls using a OK Google command it will never allow me to make outgoing phone calls which is so strange to me
We are returning our link 10 that battery it’s terrible and it even died while it was plugged in..no idea why and on top of that 2 days after using it took almost 15 minutes to boot up..not a very good experience so far
Yeah but I already have 1 JBL Charge 3 (my mother's) and I would have loved to be able to connect it to it :p Either What do you think of the power bank of the JBL Charge 3? Is useful? I can not use it because my mother doesn't want me to leave house with her speaker :(
I got the JBL Link 10 for $40 Refurbished from JBL and it is a STEAL! Oh and just wondering, who prefers the white JBL branding from the link line-up than the red on JBL's other speakers??
Can you explain what you meant with the broadcast limitations? I was keen to replace my Google Home with the JBL however I use the boradcast feature regularly and can't lose that functionality.
Cudareli I am in the same boat...I was rather annoyed that the broadcast feature did not work. I am hopeful that Google corrects this soon. What I was told when contacting Google was that third party systems will eventually get the same features but not at the same time as Google's products.
My link 10 bluetooth skips and shuts off at around every 2 hours of continuous use. Its super irritating because I use it at work and every 2 hours i gotta reconnect my phone. Does anyone else's do this? Im about to throw it off a cliff if it dosen't have a solution.
has anyone ever tested and compared REAL battery life of Link 10 and 20 when used via WiFi and Bluetooth? Like playing radio music at 50 percent of volume?
Ok STOP WITH THE OK GOOGLE!!! People reviewing google integrated devices should know to bleep out ok google since their audience is likely to get pissed off!
Most annoying review ever. I know how Google Assistant works. Just cut the words "hey Google" out of the video. It was constantly activating my Nest Audio.
STOP SAYING "OK GOOGLE" its driving my house crazy! why cant reviews just mute it out!
Will K 🤣

@@ShaneBryson Press the mute button or use your phone app, jesus is that too hard? I read these silly complaints all the time. Lazy arses.

It is not the same, but a newer, similar wifi bt portable jbl speaker.
I been subscribed sence you had 500 subscribers your going to reach 10k subscribers fast I give complete hope
You're the real MVP

Jbl is releasing a link soundbar this year, with google assistant and Android tv i think

Are these waterproof??
can u use your google home with Apple Music?
Is it possible to connect the jb link to continue power , or is this not recommended? I don't want to disconnect the power every time it's charged.
can you use these speakers just like regular bluetooth speakers? without the google?

lol you bogus but funny.
Literally my JBL link 10 was following all your commands
Haha, same!
can i keep the jbl plugged in to the wall or do i just use it to charge?
You can use it while plugged in
Jesus. You keep setting mine off
Amazon is not listing any google assistance built in speakers
Hey, great video.
Which app did you use to compare speaker's sound quality??
I just got a link 20 on eBay for $54.00
very quiet sound. please invest in some proper microphone (at least at the beginning as this can put people off watching this overall good review!!)
I don't appreciate you "Hey" me loudly in the end of the video frightened the hell out of me
Does the link 10 has the ability to use continued conversation with google asstistant?
My Link 20 and Link View both do
are those smart plugs compatible with the Link 20?
It depends on the plug, is compatible with any plug that is compatible with Google Home
can I add other speakers to this one and have it control them? say like a bass booster or something?
But can't you just leave the speakers plugged in all the time, just like the Google home?
Yes, you can, most of the tone I do.
are you able to connect the link 20 to other jbls like pulse 3?
No, it can only be part of a speaker group over wifi
how many times did it trigger ur google assistant while watching this video on your phone. 😂😂😂
Link 10 or altec Lansing for sound quality ?
Hi, a good WiFi speaker with built-in google assistant AND aux jack? Thank you very much
Can you link the two together like the link 10 and 10 to play sound together
You can add them to any speaker group through Google app but only over wifi, not over Bluetooth
whats the name of the song you played first?
"Together" by 3rd Prototype. I was wondering the same thing. I ended up putting the video on my computer and then using the soundhoud app on my phone to get the name of the song
you think people who go through the trouble to make videos on Google products would know better to mute out the activating "hey/okay google"
After jbl boombox which jbl speaker is best?
Xtreme 2
Have a look at Link 500
how can i connect to wifie
How does the Pulse 2 compare with Link 10?

Stop saying hey Google
Have two of these in the bin. They sound good but all else is horrible
they should have added connect plus
very comprehensive. can Google Home be placed in the bathroom? Clearly JBL Link can as they are IPX7, but google doesn't mention about that.
I wouldn't cause you might risk damage from the steam.
I'm throwing this speaker out. It doesn't work when you need to reset

Great video, thank you

good times good times
Like eight hours less than the ue boom speakers. These speakers look and sound horrible and you get terrible battery life.
Alrite mate quit with all the hey googles!!
