For home defense, you would shoot one barrel and access the reaction. Hopefully the threat has ended. If you must, fire the second barrel with the plan to withdraw quickly into another room, if possible, like a bathroom or back bedroom from a hallway. You eject the spent shells and reload behind cover. The same mentality for a truck gun. Fire, access, fire again and withdraw. You have to fight with respect to the weapon's capability. Not many assailants will think, after being shot twice by no. 4 buck, "now I got them, they have to reload."
I would look into some of the Cowboy Action reload techniques for quick reloads and maybe polish the chambers a bit. Your point about leaving it loaded is a really good one WRT home defense. In most situations it will be sitting loaded ready to go for long periods of time and it is good that there are no compressed springs with these.
Thanks for the nice thorough review. Been looking for a coach gun with hammers and there aren't a lot of options these days. Nice to know this model is still around and looks that nice. I think I see one in my future!
Too bad the shell holder doesn’t hold six rounds. I mean you have two barrels and you’re two fingering the reload process, you can use that only twice with one remaining.
@@roberthenn4800 this particular shotgun that he is reviewing was ABSOLUTELY made in China!! I’ve owned several and own one currently. The PRC on the left barrel is People’s Republic of CHI-NA. The Italian ones are made by pedersoli and they are $1500 and up. Sorry pal, CHI-NA
Technically a firearm is a machine. I have heard people say worse things than that when talking about firearms. He could be calling a full cartridge a "bullet"
I just recently opted for the 20 inch Cimarron. I like the gun alot but noticed after I had it home that the barrels are not joined on the rib properly. One is clearly higher than the other one. Also my left chamber area is extremely rough and extracting shells can be tough after the gun is dirty. I've noticed the Winchester shells stick more than the Federal ones. Check your barrels before you purchase. I wish I had inspected it better in the shop. I have not contacted Cimarron but will be soon to see if they will do anything about it. Hopefully they will.
Thanks for the detailed reply. Good advice. Based on the barrel alignment issue you mentioned above and that which was mentioned in the video, I'm guessing the Chinese subcontractor making the barrels for Cimarron doesn't have a good handle on the fab/assembly technology and quality control required to ensure aligned barrels. Germane to sticking, I've noticed the Walmart "Suprema" brand stuck worse than the others I've tried. I'm guessing we can polish the chambers to fix the rough extraction at least to some extent. Hopefully Cimarron will do something for you. If you have time, please let me know how they responded. No problem either way though. Good luck.
I like the external hammers, they are great if you just want to leave it loaded ready to grab. Internal hammers remain cocked. I basically got one, just because I always wanted one, but while I have better SD options if things go really bad, I still think a 12 gauge double would solve most issues that occur. If someone is pointing a double barrel 12 gauge at you, regardless of how many of you there are, you know some of you are going to be killed and so even if there are multiple assailants they'd have to have some good reasons to keep coming at you. Where I'd see this really at a disadvantage would be if you were actually involved in a gun fight in the open, where you are taking fire. However statistically that rarely ever happens to a private individual. I like to keep mine handy in the home for various situations, if I had to deal with an animal attack on one of my neighbors kids, or the like, and with it in my office I feel at the least I could fight my way to the upper level where the rest of my guns are stored if a "Hollywood" movie style attack breaks out :) It's a while since I patterned mine on paper, but I don't recall the barrels being registered like yours, it seems they shot pretty much left to the left and right to the right at close range with 00 buck. I found of the loads I had the Federal Premium grouped very tightly out to decent distances like 25 yards.
First of all, there's no "NEED" to-explain why you'd want an exposed hammer Coach Gun. The patterning test is very helpful. Just FYI, those people at Diamond D do INCREDIBLY-NICE work, on a whole variety of excellent leather work, with VERY-practical hunting/backpacking holsters, rifle slings, and so-on, ESPECIALLY for those who are having to go-about in BEAR country. Check-out their Site. No, I am NOT their "Marketing Director!" I'm simply a grateful repeat customer who appreciates having-found them. GREAT holsters, slings, butt-cuff ammo carriers? YES. Lastly, I'm betting that, by adding, and then practicing-with a few-MORE Dummy Loads, you could EASILY speed-up your reloads, not that you were "slow" in the initial demonstrations. On SOME Doubles, you can sort of "flip" the whole piece, clockwise, to help speed-up the emptying of the chambers, even without ejectors, which are not allowed in those Cowboy Matches.
I like these also. I've got this gun on my short list. Thanks for the video. Machine phase you use, not sure about. Overall, lots of good info, and great job overall.
I definitely get that. But all others are 1,000 +. I'm going to get this to start with and get a CZ one after a year or more. 600+ for a hammer action db is hard to beat. *uck china though.
For home defense external hammers are still better. You could store them loaded but with uncocked hammers. With internal hammers this wouldnt be possible.
Learned from your video. Ty. I just bought a CZ "Classic" for many of the same reasons you bought your coach gun. I wanted to try my hand at clays so I opted for a longer barrel. Questions please: can you recommend a cheek pad that's not too tall but does the job. Opinion about stick on like Beretta's Gel-tek or GodA' Grip?
Hi David. I've not tried many cheek pads so I don't have an opinion on products out there. On one of my AK-47's, I did make my own check pad/riser with dense foam and gorilla tape. I cut the foam to get myself a consistent check weld. It sort of looked like crap but it worked for the AK and was very functional. Not sure you'd want to do that on a beautiful gun like the CZ Classic. Good luck!
Thanks for the nice comments. Yea, the 26 is probably more functional but the 20 is so portable and has a "cool factor" associated with it. Perhaps the answer is to get one of each? :-)
Hubby just bought one. They are made in China for Cimarron, but are the only current coach guns without the shockingly stupid non-period correct tang safety.
Calm down, Yes a firearm technically speaking is a machine. Its clumsy to call it that but at least he isn't referring to a fully loaded shot shell as a "bullet" THAT would be a sin.
Thank you so much for showing that this gun is manufactured in Communist China. I was going to buy one but wanted to find out where it was made before I did. I will not buy it now that I know. Thank you for your honesty.
Wes Hurless so would you think it's really worth the price for this shotgun, they have 3 for sale for under 250 and I'm trying to do my research on this one.
I wish Colt would start making these again. I would buy one in a heartbeat.
I am a die hard sporting clays shooter and my best score ever was with a 20” Stoeger coach gun !!
I own this exact shotgun and purchased it for the exact same reason... it’s just cool. 😎

These are called coach guns because they were used on stagecoaches. Short barrels for lightness and ease of maneuverability.

Cimmaron shotguns are built by Uberti in Italy.
Not these, they’re Chinese. The Wyatt Earp and doc holiday shotguns are Italian.

Thanks for the video, nice gun. I might have to pick one of these up.
BillnWa thanks for the nice comment!
Barrels are set to come together. Mine puts slugs together at 50 yards!

Did they fix it or replace it? What happened?
?
Why would you buy a shell carrier that holds 5 for a gun that loads by twos lol. 🧐 That's dumb

Hello, where did you bought your red "cartouchière de crosse" please ? (sorry i dont know the english name)

Hello, you know who makes these coach gun for Cimarron?
Hi. I'm not sure who actually makes it. Other than the "LJC PRC", I could not discern who is actually making it. I assume it's made in China.
Made in pakistan
Nice machine! I have been looking to get one of these myself.
Who made the butt pad with shell holder?
Ótimo vídeo recomendo aos brasileiros Brazil 🇧🇷 , a quantos metros está o alvo ?
I learned it’s not a rifle or a shotgun, it’s a machine.
What ammo were you shooting? Bird shots?
I used Winchester #8 Birdshot and Estate #4 Buckshot.
I was interested up tp the point you said, “Chinese”! Then it was a no go for me.
Is this made in China? I have been awaiting Cimarron to restock these but now I'm having second thoughts. I thought they were made in Italy?
They are made in Italy.

A gunsmith can remove the center bead and install two beads, one for each barrel.
Shot gun ,firearm, maybe a tool , but machine ??? realy

Machine? Guess I hear something weird every day now.
Gun not Machine !!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Made in China for $500.00? Buy the Century arms version and save money. Probably both made on the same factory line anyway.
Made in PRC!? Same money you could’ve got a CZ made in Turkey, not China! Maybe even a Pietta made in Italy.
These are $1k less than CZ, which has the awful non-period correct tang safety.
Сколько стоит? $

I’ll buy guns from Turkey but no CCCP !
SxS !
where are these guns made now? I've heard they are made in China and I really don't want to buy a Chinese shotgun look really nice though.
Why do you keep calling it a "machine"? Extremely annoying.
because guns are mechanical devices. Cars are machines too, and pens!
