San Diego: Homeless Encampment Fire 10052024

A fire began in a homeless encampment next to an AUTOZONE store and next to the 28th St/National Ave off-ramp from the northbound I-5. SDPD officers blocked the offramp, causing traffic to back up onto the freeway. Firefighters arrived, but before their arrival, a propane tank exploded (14 seconds into the video). Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly.

Wow I saw this encampment yesterday at about 5:30 p.m. Relatively new compared to the one located in the freeway loop. Kaboom.
