Not at all - I'm using DPA 4560 binaural mics into a Zoom F6 recorder and recording at 32-bit float / 96KHz, and doing some editing in my DAW. I got the mics primarily to record ambient city and forestry walks for another channel, but they're so discreet that I thought I'd try them out in concert halls. I'm really pleased with how good they are!

Isn’t Bootleg another word for theft ? Your admission to “discreet” recording suggests as such. If you’d asked and Chris had said it’s ok then fine, but you didn’t did you.
Oh don't be such a bore. I don't think this recording will inhibit ticket/record sales for Thile in any way. I'd imagine it's more likely to inspire more people to go see him perform solo. YT videos did that for me anyway.
