Came here from the 2017 PHC show with Fiona as a guest, and now I know why, during that performance, Fiona raised the bar on the refrain and Thile about fainted in awe - seems like maybe she took HIS refrain from this performance...how is that for mutual respect- when one genius musician uses another genius musician's cover of their own song as inspiration during a performance. Just awesome!!!!
One of my all time favorite Thile performances. Take a truly great but spooky song and let him improvise with it. Subtle lyrics, and playing as fast as he can. Good stuff.
This what happens when you mix slave music with Irish music with Bach and Jazz and manifest it through an AMERICAN who is un-bounded...and a born music machine...effervescing this brew right into the audio cortex of our brains.
