When I sublimated on tile I used the lamination sheets and the polycrylic paint on. I really like the way the laminate sheets worked, looked great on mine.
hi there you two awesome peeps. I just love seeing both your faces and watching the two of you bounce off each other and make some quality pieces and teach the rest of us how to make things. LOVE you both so much. I really appreciate all your videos. you have taught me a lotttt.
Another great project , thanks for doing all the research for us. I love watching your videos not just for the projects but also to watch the two of you laugh together.
Lol, today, you guys had me cracking up. I love seeing you do all this testing for us. Thank you for doing that! Also, I was never interested in those tiles, so I am not disappointed it did not work.
I seriously laughed so much during this video! I love the printer gesture that you chose, although all of them would've been acceptable. Kim, your jump rope gestures are seriously giving Garrett a run for his money! I'm glad you guys are trying out different materials and showing the fails as well as the successes!
I sublimate on wood rounds. I always paint the area I plan to sub on white. Sometimes I use laminate on them other times I do not. I typically use pictures I have taken of the mountains and such. I also sublimated on ceramic by using laminate sheets. I heat them on first let cool and add print. If you want a picture of what I am talking about let me know. I am a hobbiest lol I don’t sell. If I did that it wouldn’t be fun for me anymore. So I try all kinds of things.
Right!!! Took me back 20 years. Not sure if I can Percolate as I did then. Still sounds good. House music never dies. Hilarious that he used that track!!
Love it. What if u tried a heat conductive silicone mat on the ceramic ones. They are supposed to be used for slate to heat evenly and it would smush into the concaved parts. Maybe. Lol
I made the tiles but I had to put a coating on them first, and bake them for like 15 min. You can get the coating off Amazon Dry?. It works amazing. You can also laminate the tiles and then sublimate on them.
The tiles are so pretty, too bad they didn’t work out. But put laminate on them and they’ll be fine. But those tiles engrave beautifully with Glowforge!
@@aesquires Hi there...I don't believe either side makes a difference; though, after separating, I tend to fuse the inside of the sheet to the face of my substrate. Then I use my heat press. I'll double check my notes and reply tomorrow with the temperature and time to press😉😊. Hope this helps!
i came to ask the same thing. Since the Polycrylic spray worked on the wood can you just spray it on the tile or will it not adhere because it's not porous? Would really like to see.
You peeled the ornament , am I supposed to peel the top layer off of my kits before I paint? I noticed some of the large wood grain pieces are peeling off.
You can’t sublimate on regular ceramic just like you can’t sublimate on a regular old dollar store mug. If has to be sublimatable (coated with a poly coating). They do sell a coating for “hard surfaces” I don’t know if it works or not. Thanks for giving it a go ! I was surprised about the wood. I’m surprised the melamine didn’t melt totally!
Thesw Oh yes these coatings do work for signs ornaments etc. like in this video. I wouldn't try them on a mug though. Their hardness/longevity can't be compared to the industrial coating at all. They can be easily scratched.
Great way to start Friday. You two had me cracking up🤣🤣🤣 Garrett needs some oven mitts...Mommy must not have told you not to touch hot things with your bare hands !!!LOL😜😜😜 RIP ceramic tiles....I make magnets from the 2" square tiles and coasters from the 4" ones. Won't be doing any sublimation however, but it is fun to watch you two. The message board...hmmm.....KI.SS.....KI.CK......KI.LL...can't think of any others but I like KISS the best. Happy to hear you will be putting this design in the store....I have an idea 💡. We shall see how bright the bulb is and if it works😜🤣😜🤣😜
Good Morning Kim & Garrett 1. I WANT To Kiss You or I Want to Kick You lol love all od them variations in the ornaments was great!!! Do you think on the quatrefoil tile it could be sand lightly to take the image to it won't work at all? What do you think? Curious.
Nice video, however, you can't sublimate on ceramic tile unless it is pre-coated with a Polymer sublimation coating, you should have sprayed the tiles with the Polyacrylic or purchased ceramic tiles that are pre-coated for sublimation.
Hysterical 🤣...so you'll have the most success sublimating onto any polyester surface. Meaning: you'll need to coat your ceramic tiles with a coating containing the highest percentage of polyester possible. Sublimation inks bond to the polyester or polymer fibers resulting in the image transfer.
When I sublimated on tile I used the lamination sheets and the polycrylic paint on. I really like the way the laminate sheets worked, looked great on mine.
I would love to see this process!! 🥰 I hav lots of tile and I am just getting my stuff to be able to sublimate items!
Thanks for the info. I sublimated a picture on a Home Depot dry erase board and it looks fantastic!
Yay! Thanks for watching
OMG! You two are hysterical! I love watching your videos not just for the projects but also to watch the two of you laugh together.

You guys read my mind. I was researching about this yesterday!
Could I have the link to the Lowe’s hardboard you used. Just want to make sure I pick up the correct one. Thank you 😊
Agreed
I'd like it too!
I would love to know too.
And what settings did you use to cut it, please. Thanks!
Yes!! I would like to know too!!
The design is sooo cute and also really like the shape of the ornaments, so many possibilities
Great video... Lol sorry cute watching you two work together... This was fabulous information. I cannot thank you enough
Thanks for all the testing & finger burning!
Hahaha..."Dougie Fresh"...I thought the same thing! LOVE the creativity of you both!!! Thanx for your trial & errors so we can do the best we can!
I just love you guys! i do like the rustic look on the first one, the hard board for a nice image.
We agree!
U have to put the polycrylic on the surface of the tiles.
Really like and appreciate the honest compariso,n!
Thank you! we try
I love all your videos! Look forward to Friday! ♥️♥️😎

You two are so funny. Love your channel. Thanks!
You guys cracked me up with this video! I hit your subscribe button. Thanks for all the work you put in this. Saved me some time from some failures!
Lol thanks!
Great video. Thanks!
Lol answers may very hee hee that set my mind whirling.
Great video, thanks. What did you put on your wood before you cut it?
I know the aluminum one was hot but I LOL when you dropped it!!
lolol happy to entertain

I also have used white Oracal 651 if a white background is needed
Add laminate to the tiles they'll sublimate.
It’s time for the sublimator. I love it. #CHITOWN #HOUSEMUSIC

Can you post a link to the melamine from Lowes please?
Where did you get the hardboard? Can you share the link?
You guys are amazing! Add laminate to the tiles to make it work; or use waterslides.
Thank you for testing these. Just a thought but have you tried the polyacrylic spray on the tiles?
Great suggestion!

Hello, what is the best glo forge n what is the price, thank you
I use thermal laminate on ceramic tile.
Laminate tiles first then sublimate. Will work.
The tiles are so pretty, too bad they didn’t work out. But put laminate on them and they’ll be fine. But those tiles engrave beautifully with Glowforge!
PS you can also try fusing thermo laminating sheets to the ceramic tiles prior to sublimation. Thermo laminating sheets are made from polyester. 😉
@andrea Brilliant!!! How would you fuse them? heat press? which side of the sheet do you apply to the ceramic?
@@aesquires Hi there...I don't believe either side makes a difference; though, after separating, I tend to fuse the inside of the sheet to the face of my substrate. Then I use my heat press. I'll double check my notes and reply tomorrow with the temperature and time to press😉😊. Hope this helps!
I wonder if you lightly sand the tiles?
how are you doing if not have sublimation material coating on them.
Haha! Fun to watch you two. Thanks for the chuckles you give us. Do you have a link to the board you bought at Lowes which tested best? Thanks!
We don't sorry!
Bummer that’s what I was tying to figure out too what the board was
Can you try the poly on the tiles first then add the sublimation, wondering if that would work. Thank you for the videos.
i came to ask the same thing. Since the Polycrylic spray worked on the wood can you just spray it on the tile or will it not adhere because it's not porous? Would really like to see.
Have you guys tried a tile with the polyacrylic coating? I bet that would work really well.
Thermal lamination on wood & ceramic allows the ink to transfer deeper color
Sorry, which Epson eco-tank are you using?
Can you put put iron on on the things and then you could sub on them?
You two crack me up! Do you sell the blank wood ornaments for this? (The one that looked the best) Thanks.
I always clean my ceramic tile with rubbing alcohol the day before I plan to sub it to make sure it’s clean.
You peeled the ornament , am I supposed to peel the top layer off of my kits before I paint? I noticed some of the large wood grain pieces are peeling off.

What exactly is the hard board that worked best?
MDF 1/4"
@@KimandGarrettmakeit Thank you!
@@KimandGarrettmakeit Does the MDF have any coating or treatment at all? Thank you!
❤️❤️❤️
Have you noticed your wood warping?
Heat gloves Garrett!
