Nico S I did some research on my ancestors and took it back to the late 1600's and all lived in Villa de cos Zacatecas and there are baptismal records of my ancestors getting baptized and being given my last name De La Cruz . It does specify that they were what they called indio from a Puebla and are being given the last name De La Cruz from the Catholic Church. From what I know there were only two tribes in Villa de cos the Chichimec & the Zacateco. So I don't know for sure(as of right now) which is my ancestors tribe. Maybe you could help me out.

They are not burning their feet. This particular dance uses the fire a way to represent knowledge. In this case usually represented Huehueteotl deity depicted as an elder who served as the guardian of the fire. A strong African influence on Mexican dances can be found on postcolonial dances like the Diablos in Guerrero. and others in Oaxaca.

No Jisus, los Mayas no hablaban náhuatl. Este grupo asemeja más la cultura mexica. Pero actualmente se les clasifica como chichimeca. Este término se les daba a los grupos nómadas que no pertenecían a un reinado especialmente.

Chichimeca (nomads) as we know came down from what is called Canada through what is known as the US to what is Mexico today. And do not forget all the slaves and the Euro interest in the area.... It would be ignorant to assume anything without some basis to go off of, esp., in such an exploited region for the past few hundred years.
Es por que hasta la fecha no hay datos comprobables de la cultura no necesariamente endemica de la region de Aguascalientes pero de la que se asento ahi. la zona arqueologica que puedes observar en la website todavia esta en proceso de investigacion. Muchas fueron las tribus chihimecas que transitaron por la zona y estan distingidas en la pagina. pero no te puedo dar una especifica pues hasta la fecha no se sabe.
Si eres Tarasco Purepecha, no necesariamente eres chichimeca. Recuerda que chichimeca es un titulo generico de tribus nomadas independientemente de su afiliacion cultural.
