Unfortunately it's fake, that looks like a mixing of cultures and looks more like the dance of the new fire by the aztecs. It's very sad that even people of mayan ascendance can't tell this is fake. The only real dances that survived the spanish conquest are not like that. First, mayans used masks to represent deities or characters from their story. Secondly they disguised as that character and danced accordingly. Some of these dances have suffered transformations. For real mayan culture visit Guatemala, as many mesoamerican cultures in mexico suffer heavy influence from central mexico (aztecs). Here's an example of authentic mayan religious dance, and a recreation of the same dance: th-cam.com/video/zH86q5KJdJM/w-d-xo.html (authentic) th-cam.com/video/CRsUuejdHeE/w-d-xo.html (folkloric ballet)
It's not appropriate to call Mexicans, Latinos that's why. For one they dont speak Latin, nor are they ancient Romans or Italians. Hispanics are another thing those are Spanish people of Spain and from the entirety of the Iberian Peninsula. The whole Latinos and Hispanics are just US census categorizations to place every romance language speaking peoples into. Your better off just calling them Mexicans.
Growing up in a very Mayan city and living in the same city and going to the same school as some Mayans I was very exposed to these dances and even learned a few. It's pretty cool. Even seen a few of these dances live.
In this dance Halach Huinic appears, accompanied by the divine twins of creation. The Halach Huinic dances with two torches to chase away the bad winds, representing the eternal struggle of day and night. Once that bond is strengthened, he will take his baton, closing the ceremony.

A great performance from the dancers, for the first time I understood and saw such a wonderful performance.
htfcm yeah. The mexica tribe were arses, however the triple alliance for a most part weren’t. Until of course they rebelled instead of uniting to throw out the Spanish. That was a dick move on all sides.
For anyone wondering what this dance is about This dance speaks about Hun Nal Ye’s journey to Xibalbá, accompanied by Ah Puch and the characters of the Maya underworld. Chac, the god of rain, and the four Bacabes are in on the journey too. They dance to sow the seed of the New Fire and to ask the rains for new harvests. Following, the four priestesses are in charge of preparing the sowing with a dance for the goddess of nature, Ixmucane, who will grow the seeds and make the young corn god see the light. Afterward, Ah Puch, lights a circle of fire with his torch. This symbolizes the slashing, an agricultural system in which the earth is prepared by burning what is above it to mineralize the organic materials and favor planting and harvesting. Meanwhile, around the circle of fire, the priestesses dance to summon the rain of the god Chac. Thus, with that rain, the young corn god will be born from the shell of a turtle. For the next scene, the Halach Huinic appears, accompanied by the divine twins of creation. The Halach Huinic dances with two torches to chase away the bad winds, representing the eternal struggle of day and night. Once that bond is strengthened, he will take his baton, closing the ceremony.
I’m Polynesian and watching Mayan performances reminds me of two Polynesian cultures, the Marquesas and Easter Island (Rapa Nui). That being said, the similarity between different cultures is evident enough of contact between our peoples and how we traded some of our traditions for a sweet potato/Kumara...failed inside joke😂🤷♀️
I just watched a video after this one and the genetic evidence shows that Marquesas Islands were the first place where the Native American genes spread. You called it! That must have been one hell of an adventure. My guess is that the Island people discovered America and returned with people and food lol. There's also Polynesian specific genes in Pacific West South American.
@@marcose1137 we share genes with Asians. I used to wonder why Natives have those eyes until I read that Asians settled here thousands of years ago. Also there is a language in South America that shares some characteristics with the Japanese language.
Enjoyed the video!!!!....I actually checked it out, not solely due to being always simply a patron of world cultures, as I've longed, and have always have been, but because I wanted to get a glimpse of possibly how a portion of my ancestors might have lived. Between 1670 to 1717 in the Eastern and Midwestern portion of the USA enslaving Native Americans came to a quite popular peak. The early Florida peoples were said to have suffered exceedingly more than any other of these peoples, such as the Guale, Apalachee, Timucua, Calusa, Ais, Mayaimi, and Jeaga. Linguistically, culturally, and genetically the bulk of them were said to be related to the U.S. Creeks, but very much so the Central American Mayans, and the South American and West Indian Arawaks. Through ancestry dna testing I discovered 2 percent of dna was Native American, and 4 percent of my paternal aunt's. For I understand without this 2 percent I would be NON EXISTENT.
It was forced out of them by the Europeans, much like the similar experience Native Americans went through. Now you have white people claiming Native American ancestry to be seated in the concil table
@Raymond Morales they were Catholic/Christian in name only.. if you know anything about Jesus, and what he taught you would understand they weren't practicing what true Christians believe..
North American Natives are mostly related to the Altai People coming over the Bering Strait (Source German Newspaper approximately 2 years ago) but the South American Natives for example the Yanomami Tribe obviously could be. I think there are DNA Tests, but I`m no biologist and can´t read them
Those are the people of the 'Third Wave" Americans. The First wave were australoids like in Papua New Guinea. That is why some of the music goes like, "Hey ya ha ha, Hey yo hey hey." Where I come from, Tonga, we cut our hair for mourning like the Dakota Lakota Oglala Sioux for Chief Big Foot at the massacre at Wounded Knee. Native Americans have the Atlatl or spear thrower. Same as the Woomera of the Australian Aboriginals.
It is impossible to us Pacific Islanders to be asians. Nearly every single team of the NFL has a Tongan in it. William Tukuafu - 49ers. Fui Vakapuna - NY Jets. Roy Helu Jr. - Redskins. my cousin William Ta'ufo'ou -Chicago Bears. Tonga is one of the smallest countries in the world. and there is bearly any asians in the NFL. Pacific Islanders are usually overweight when in China or anywhere in Asia has no Overweight peoples.
We were late for the show and all the good spots were occupied so I climbed a tree to film it, holding myself with the left arm (it went numb) and my good old sony camera did an excellent job 😉 regards Ceejay
