    From looking at the spikes in the dynamic curve, there's a lot left with just tuning alone. That's not bad.

      Thanks mohawk! Yeah, it's a good little street engine. It'll be easy on the 7.5 rear end and be a consistent bracket racer.

    Cool! We built a similar motor for my sons car ! A 307 with 305 416 heads,jet,cast iron intake, stock 100,000 (not rebuilt ) summit .450 lift cam it ran 14.40s probably similar(realistic) horse power! Cool build!

    DMG sent me way earlier. I love 305s... especially the 165 HP F Bird and Camaro Cross Fire and Monte Carlo 4bbl 190 HP. It just suffered Wrong Number-Itus and Automotive LesDexia™️©️, and no one in the US loved the 307 SBC either. They are the best like a Rock Budget Build. You have proven it. Nice work

    A fun video refreshingly free of hyperbole.
    My 100% stock 1985 C10 305 with over 200K miles is economical, reliable and peppy enough for my needs. The 305 gets lots of hate but is a reliable useful engine.

    Bolt on a properly calibrated mechanical or electronic Qjet matched to your vehicle, a 14057053 aluminum intake, and a pair of shorty headers, and you are good for at least 260 hp /300 FP torque without cracking the engine open.

    Sounds and performs not disappointing at all! Good job! 🎉 I bet my 350 tbi doesn’t even come close to the 200 mark!

    • @nickthevanman9011
      @nickthevanman9011  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'd be amazed what any cam over 400 lift, an intake and 4 barrel will do to any tbi engine. But you can get a 350 tbi to around 270hp.

  • @CrazyWoody1989
    @CrazyWoody1989 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That will be interesting because the 305 HO I'll be running also has stock manifolds, and intake but with a spacer/adapter and a Holley 600. Mine also has a comp cam with forgotten specs, but I bet yours STILL makes at least as much or more power.

    • @nickthevanman9011
      @nickthevanman9011  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yours should make more with the Holley, and my cam on its 114 is pushing it's curve wayyyy out there. If yours is on a 110, has at least 212 degrees of duration and 450 lift you should make a solid 250hp and 300ftlbs.

    Dang good stuff on probably the most "Underrated & Unwanted" v8 ever built.
    IMO if GM would've released more aftermarket stuff for this little "bean counter", the 5.0 Ford would've still been known as the 302.... lolololol.
    It actually made more power than the 5.0..... but the Aftermarket embraced the 302 with all the cheap "Go Fast Goodies" that you could buy to make it even better, whereas GM said, "If you wanna go fast, start do a 350 or ante up".

      Honest question. Was the aftermarket stuff for the cheapest motor to modify in the world (350ci) not applicable?

    • @nickthevanman9011
      @nickthevanman9011  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@howiefeltersnatch2973 it was, but it was ultra budget. This engines mostly stock. Just different factory heads, a custom ground cam, edelbrock intake and carb. Beyond that pretty stock. Think of it as a 305h.o with 40 more HP for $1400 all in with machine work.

    • @howiefeltersnatch2973
      @howiefeltersnatch2973 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nickthevanman9011 I understand your build for the most part (exhaust manifolds?) my question was more geared towards the original poster. I think the 305 had all the aftermarket support and then more compared to most engines simply based on the popularity and availability of the 350. I think nobody bothered with 305's for the most part just because a 350 were just as cheap/free to obtain. I could be wrong, just curious as I've never messed with 305's other than repairs.

    • @nickthevanman9011
      @nickthevanman9011  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@howiefeltersnatch2973 well, they used to be that way. Used to be 350s were everywhere and dirt cheap, so much so that the 305 wasn't worth the cost savings. Same could be said for the 307 as well. But 350s aren't super cheap anymore unfortunately. Any below 500 you find are usually totally worn out or blown up and a non performance application casting number. At which point you are better off with a running 305.

  • @DS-mo6md

    Hmm.. I was trying to find info on those heads.. ported I saw 200 CFM.?. but no way they flow that stock and would give that much even with an RV cam without a bottle necks? Or do they flow like 170 or less and that's why.. because it's like a 5.0 ho with some stock e7s that's still enough cam to make well over 300 .. I guess I don't know the intake either so there's that. Not that it's bad !
