    “Initial city placement is something that tells you whether you‘re facing a good player or not“-so true.

      Yes it's pretty good but I was pretty cash poor and had AI Central, so I don't think I really needed it.

    That gen 2 and 3 draft was insane - can't believe they gave you alloys back on wheel while having titanium prod

    I'm not a fan of how your eyes are always glued to the top action bar for most of the game. I wish it was placed more front and center in the UI.

      Yeah, the layout can be a bit weird. What I love about it is that you always see the log and that the log is very detailed...defintely better than in the steam version!

      There are some settings like map first and floating hand that fix that issue for me on bga. You should give them a try and see if you like them better.
      There should be a settings ⚙️ symbol in the top right grey area.

    Gotta say, I like the Steam version better. This takes a bit too much magic away from the game.
    While it does have some real nice quality of life things (turn timer, total score etc), what I really like about the Steam version is the atmosphere. There is a big planet in the middle of the screen, which you can watch get terraformed as the game goes on. And there is a lot of sounds coming from the terraforming itself, which might sound silly but really contributes to the atmosphere. The BGA version is missing a lot of that, in favor of showing more numbers and icons.
    Its like the Steam version makes me feel like I'm terraforming a planet, while the BGA version makes me feel more like I'm doing a spreadsheet :P

      Steam version might not be the best with its history of bugs, but dammit its got a special place in my heart. Nothing better than striking your 8 plant opponent with deimos and hearing all the TR points sound effect

      Yeah, I get you! If I just want to play a round of TM, I'm probably hping to Stick with the steam version. But I love the BGA version for asynchronous games!

      Steam LOOKS great, visually, but as a player since beta I can definitely state that playing on steam is actual torture. Bugs on bugs on bugs.

    • @Noaaaaaaaaaah
      @Noaaaaaaaaaah หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@jeffreyculbert2093 exaggeration of the year. If it was "actual torture" you of course wouldn't play it. How it has been historically is also kind of irrelevant imo, since it works well nowadays. :)

    • @jeffreyculbert2093

      Don’t think it qualifies as an exaggeration coming from the player with the most games ever played on that particular platform (though Parker has been getting close and is liable to surpass me for that mark sometime this year). Historically it was certainly worse in the past but it’s still far from good and unless the discord is telling me it’s really stable I tend to simply not play at all and last I checked that wasn’t the case though I haven’t visited the discord in a couple months.

    I think I do appreciate the practical set up of this version. Obviously not as pretty, but I don't really care.

    • @marsexpert4276
      @marsexpert4276  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah it doesn't win any style points, but it's great from a gameplay perspective - also there are very few bugs.

    Which is faster to find matches on? Steam or BGA?

    • @marsexpert4276
      @marsexpert4276  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both super fast, if you're queueing in regular times you'll find a game almost instantly on BGA. In the steam version it depends a bit on the settings you want to play with, but there are almost always a few games you can join instantly.

      I'll try to make everything a bit bigger next time. It's just hard to get everything on screen then.
      And I heard rumors that Prelude is already being implemented...

      @@marsexpert4276 i Like that you can undo actions and that opponents see what you intended to do, just like how it would be on the table.
      I think ressource production could be faster and they added a lot of noise.
      Wonder how the Layout works with 3+ Player Games

    This looks much better than the Steam version. Can see everything at once and it seems to run a bit faster. Not to mention even the beta is probably less buggy 😂

    How similar is it to play on BGA to the web app version? The look is rather similar, and it’s the clunkiness of the web app actions that’s the real turn off for me. The steam version ever present bugs are brutal. I’m hoping BGA can solve both those issues an I might start playing more often again, just switch to mostly playing on BGA.

    • @marsexpert4276
      @marsexpert4276  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have to admit, I have little experience with the web app, maybe 2 games played.
      I mainly use BGA to play asynchronous games on my phone, for that it's perfect. I agree that the Look and feel is better in the Steam version. Regarding the steam version, have you played lately? I never have any bugs anymore. I literally cannot remember the last time I had to abandon a game or even reconnect to fix something. It's really improved!
