    “Well This is my ride guys.. same time tomorrow?” *waving bye the whole time being dragged away*

    I've had hundreds of jumps on the old military parachutes and never had to release the Capewells. Just get on your feet and run round the side.

    Legend has it, the first paratrooper is still being dragged today.

    I remember in 83 during jump school in the 43rd company we were taught release your riser (at least 1) to alleviate the post drop drag as a rule regardless of the conditions.
    Oh my how times have changed. Either they stopped teaching that or we are in trouble as a nation.

      Hey Brother, I was in the 45th Co. in '81. They played "another one bites the dust" going into malfunctions class....

      I can relate to that , I went through jump school in 1983 and still remember to release atleast 1 quick release off my riser if being dragged😮

      Still taught it in 89 when I went... these new chutes may have a different process but still seems these troops forgot something...

    Disconnect from the parachute. Remember the training.

      I damn near took out the little shelter they had for shade that can be seen on the mound at 4:31. That was one far ass walk to the collection point haha

    My thoughts, 4 yrs ago? Shit I'm old now.
    Those chutes look like a softer landing but not safer

    Damn, I jumped a hell of a lot during my time in various SF units and to prevent this from happening to me I would pull both quick release capewells fast regardless of wind conditions, etc. Honestly, I didn't give a damn if the chute blew by itself 100 miles away off the DZ without me attached... as long as I wasn't be dragged. HOOAH!

    haha they're just laying there like a bunch of cucumbers... wtf get up and pull in your chute!

    Those guys needed to pop a capewell, or at least pull one riser in!

    I’m from another generation, so the T-11’s are after my time in the military. But it appears to me these parachutes have difficulty in collapsing on landing. Is it the material or the shape of the canopy? Or are they just jumping in high winds?

      Looks like a botched operation

    • @Lord_of_luck2001
      @Lord_of_luck2001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the shape of the canopy. The vents on the mc6 would open up as soon as you landed and the lines lost tension but there are no brakes in the vents on the t11 so it tends to just go where it wants to lol

    Didn't these guys learn how to recover after hitting the ground. God help them if they were landing on a hot DZ, I made over a hundred jumps in a T-10 and was never dragged.

  • @SavageHunter1112

    Why are they being dropped in such conditions?

    • @tboxcupcakes
      @tboxcupcakes 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      to get them jumps in, especially at the end of jump week since this school is only 3 weeks long. I may or may not have jumped in winds that were twice what the "legal limit for trainees" is. This may or may not have been just this past march

      I was being dragged after a very hard landing and I was stunned, but even then I was cognizant enough to just disconnect one of the “ cable loop type canopy releases “.

    God help us if we ever have to fight a war using paratroopers. This is what happens when you raise a generation staring at screens all day.

      Does it occur to you this could be their first jump ever?

    • @jmc1999a
      @jmc1999a 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GcD9179 Still doesn't excuse that level of incompetence. Some friends and I did a first time static line jump using military surplus equipment after a 30 minute training course. None of us did a stand up landing but we certainly weren't anywhere near as lame as these soldiers who receive extensive pre-jump military training.

      John lmao dude lemme know how a standup landing goes with a T-10 or T-11 parachute. Your tailbone will become your neck bone.
