I have a Nikon P900 and it takes incredibly good photos for the price of a point and shoot. As an amateur photographer I don’t need the technically best shot available in the top line technologies, I just need a good shot. Nikon P900 does this in spades. I believe it is 24 - 2000mm optical zoom and up to 8000mm digital zoom. I think it would have to be the best all round travel camera ever produced. I appreciate the P1000 is now out and boy what a camera but it was nearly $1000 more expensive than my P900. So considering price and capability I think the P900 is the better deal.
To take a picture of a human go into programmes and choose “portrait”. This will optimise the camera for human portraiture. To take a blurred image set the camera on shutter priority and choose a long shutter speed. Always remember your triangle of exposure. Have a nice day and fun with your camera. Cheers

I have both, and the image quality and versatility of the Sony is much better, like an amazing auto HDR that give you an enormous boost for Dynamic Range, and can be used handheld with no issues, it's simply baffling. The extra zoom of the P900 is hardly useful, and when it finally is the images are often a little blurry, even with many tries, and it annoys me so much. With the Sony using 50x zoom, plus 50x digital zoom, I get better results all the time. But yeah, on a tripod focusing an immovable or very slow object, like the moon, the P900 is unbeatable.

I think with a larger sensor and more megapixels, the finepix s1 could move up to even 1st place. Its an amazing camera in daylight. Not in night time tho. Also you need a tripod for superzooms, because your hand shakes. And the more you zoom in, the more you get shaky and blurry footage and the photos wont even focus. I loved my s1, im sad I only got it temporeraly.
Ive got one the image quality is not so good and the zoom is very powerful but the image qualty useing the zoom is terrble, unless in very sun lit circumsances. The other problem with the zoom is the girl across the way keeps closing the curtains, everytime. i recomend the Cannon.
....my NIKON P 900 bought 5 years ago.....! now the zooming is out of order ? my next buy would be the LEICA V LUX 5 or the Panasonic LUMIX DC FZ1000 II......!
get p1000 everyone its the best. i have p900 cz im poor and the difference between 2000mm and 3000mm is huge. 1000mm difference and 1000mm is almoust double of 600mm which is the max of those other "super"zoom cameras.

Rx 10 is the best but it's far to expensive. I could buy a cannon 750d with a 18-55 kit lens plus a Tamrom 150-600 Lens giving me 225-900mm approx and a 50mm F1.8 lens for the same price. Compared with the other cameras costing half the price you could only buy a dslr with 18-55 kit lens
@@jp4431 That's True, I bought the fz1000 which gives an equivalent 25-400mm and in 4k video its 35-590mm due to the crop factor, the photos it produces are nothing short of excellent, very nice camera with ultra fast autofocus lock and a huge amount of customisation, plus in camera raw processing if that's your thing, personally I think the jpegs out the camera are first rate and very little to be gained with raw processing most of the time
You got all your facts wrong when it said 2x zoom was 60mm? also 30x zoom was wrong can you tell me how you came to 2x=60mm in the nikon p900. 24x to 83x a 2x should be 48mm please tell me i am wrong and how the formula works?
My favourite bridge camera? Fujifilm Finepix S2980. Sure, I'd like to get my hands on a Sony RX10 IV or Lumix 2000 (bigger sensor - better image quality and bokeh), but if you're tight on budget like me, the 2980 offers a good zoom (18x), decent image quality even at ISO 1600 (and 6400 for emergencies), great anti-shake and an unbeatable bang for buck - with a bit of patience, you might get one in good condition for around 35 € at the bay. I'll probably hunt for a RX10 IV when I can get a used one for under € 100 ;-)
Sorry but the future are big glasses, and flat lenses. We´ll see some big and heavy duty cameras with large lenses and that will be the moment people realize that if we want smart phones to be able to capture the kind of image quality that these cameras do, they might have to become larger. For those who love smart phones, the good news is a new glass is being introduced on the market that uses the human eye to help the camera that uses it to produce the most optimal quality pictures.
Best camera for traveling and nature . I use my P1000 every day . Incredible good pictures.
