    I don’t think you need to change your content bc some people don’t want to see workout content. They can just skip past it. Personally I’ve been loving the new things you are doing and sharing and I am excited to see what else is coming from you! ❤

      I completely agree! I really enjoy the gym/workout content and it's easy to skip past if you're not interested. There's still loads of other content within the videos that people can watch

    As someone who is usually triggered by a lot of gym content, it's so refreshing to see you developing a healthy relationship with it after years of an unhealthy one and it's inspiring to me that I can do the same. Keep doing you gf!!!

      absolutely! my main triggers are all about the numbers and focus on changing your body for aesthetic reasons, and that is not at all what you focus on so keep it up bestie

    It’s refreshing to see you switch up content! I don’t mind seeing different things from your channel. Also it was very eye opening to hear how different food laws are compared to the US and I’m different countries. Makes me look forward to one day experiencing it for myself!

    hearing you talk about as you travel it makes you think about humanity and how humans are so similar and we all enjoy the same things, yet we always seem to get in the way of ourselves really resonated with me. i feel the exact same way but you put it in to words so beautifully!!

    longtime follower, first time youtube commenter. i love how you share your perspective on the non-aesthetic stuff, like about food lobbying, your appreciation for the richness of humanity, and the beauty of new experiences in old places. don't get me wrong: all of your content is so visually stunning, but what i appreciate most is that the focus goes past the visuals - it makes me feel such a kinship with you! i'm rooting for you and matt and your move to scotland; my husband and i are hoping to make a move to ireland in the next few years for a lot of the same reasons. i cannot wait to see your scotland content!!!!

    I just spent 3wks in Hungary and it was the first time in years that my stomach has been flat. And I was eating bread, potatoes, meat, cake, ice cream, you name it. The food tastes like ‘food’, not chemicals and sugar, and even after a full meal I didn’t feel overly full or bloated. I also had so much energy! Within a few days of being back in Canada my stomach was back and my clothes were tight and my energy is way down.

      I’m amazed at just how quickly I’m digesting. It feels so good to eat til you’re full and then be excited for another meal a few hours later. You also don’t realize how SWEET everything in the US is until you leave??

    I loved this vlog soooo much!!! I had the same experience with the food when I studied abroad in Spain!!! Never once had a stomach ache; I ate so much cheese and regular milk and I was fine??!! My skin was also the best it ever was! Hardly broke out while I was there. It was so weird and so nice to experience. Being back in the US and eating processed foods and not very healthy foods has been so detrimental to my gut health and it’s so sad. Also experienced acne when I came back and that was rough. I’m so glad you’re having a great time!! I can’t wait to see your Scotland vlogs 🤭💗

    about the food thing- i also wanna stress that serotonin is made in ur gut and i noticed that i was experiencing way more dramatic spells of drepression here in california than i ever had in other countries that I lived in (Canada, UK, Lebanon). I’m a neuroscientist and looking at the gut-brain axis with respect to the US FDA is so so so eye opening (not in the best way)

      i know right!! it’s mind blowing. def a lot of room to improve ur quality of life here in the US but i just wish we didn’t have to go the extra extra mile to do so. Also I do recommend getting an app like Yuka (i don’t rly agree w using it for everything) but it gives u a good score on foods with barcodes so you don’t have to sit and read entire ingredient lists searching for what’s good or not. i use it on beauty products too:) def helped!!

    When I went to Rome my skin was SO clear and glowing. Still convinced it was mainly the water there but the food makes such a difference it's wild! Also Cabot cheese is lactose free, it's one of the only ones that doesn't bother my stomach.

    Your content is YOUR content that we are privileged to get be apart of. If people are upset about fitness/gym content I think that says more about their own insecurities with it if seeing other people prompts them to impose their opinions on your lifestyle. We should be celebrating people attempting to create habits that help them feel better not tear them down about it.

  • @kaatbillen6550
    @kaatbillen6550 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think for most people the main issue with the gym content is the way your previously 'body positive' content shifted towards gym and workout content, along with your body shape pretty obviously changing. I am a big fan of your content and this is in no way meant to be hateful or anything along those lines, but in less than a year you went from a very (for many people) recognisable mid-sized body to a very slim and skinny body. If you feel better with your body being its current shape, we are all very happy for you, but I don't think it's weird that many people do not resonate with that part of your content anymore

    • @MarySkinner
      @MarySkinner  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with the narrative here. I stopped making content surrounding my body almost two and a half years ago, haven’t mentioned it since, and only just started mentioning the gym in the last 6 months. I did that because of how much negative feedback I got for being too small to make the content in the first place. I did not want to take up space in a movement that was never meant for me. I started social media 3 years ago, during the height of the pandemic, when my weight was different because of covid. I have very very gradually lost the weight I gained during covid over the course of 2 years. It wasn’t intentional, it was a result of my lifestyle going back to what it was pre-covid. Perhaps people have only noticed it in the last year, but that doesn’t reflect what’s actually happened in my life. I also randomly grew an entire inch last year, which may have affected my weight distribution. According to 80% of the feedback I got during my initial year on social media, I never had a mid sized body in the first place. That’s why I respectfully changed the entire scope of my online presence. I have also only actually lost 7lbs over the course of 2 years, and have only changed one clothing size. So I understand where you’re coming from and I didn’t take this comment as hate at all, but I just wanted to provide the facts. I don’t know why people are perceiving my body in a way that is so different to what’s happened in real life, and I don’t want to know. I try to ignore all body comments, positive or negative.
      As I said, my body stopped being a part of my content 2.5 years ago. I would expect that anyone who followed me for that content would have unfollowed sometime since, which is completely reasonable. I just disagree with the idea that I’ve recently changed. I encourage everyone who no longer resonates with my content to just unfollow and make space in their feeds for accounts that speak to whatever they’re looking for.

    • @kaatbillen6550
      @kaatbillen6550 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MarySkinnerI get where you're coming from but if you haven't made any content surrounding your body for 2,5 years and suddenly you mention the gym in every video, isn't it very understandable that people don't resonate with that type of content? I absolutely don't think you should stop posting gym content if that's what you enjoy filming, but I do really understand that people don't enjoy that type of content since it's never been part of your content

    • @MarySkinner
      @MarySkinner  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Then I would really encourage them to unfollow. I post days/weeks in my life here, and this is now part of my life because it truly helps my mental and physical health. I completely understand it’s not for everyone, but I can’t change my life or content to try and please everyone because I never will. I’ve noticed over the years that there’s a real unwillingness from some people (I’m not saying this is you, just speaking generally) to accept that people evolve as they get older, and their interests/choices evolve too. I started social media when I was 21-22. I’m 25. I’m a different person than I was when I was 21 - I’m a different person than I was 6 months ago. Part of being a creator, which I’m aware that I signed up for, is receiving a daily flood of opinions from strangers about every single choice I make. I have to go with what feels best to me, or else I’ll go insane. I am so grateful for the people who have been following me since the beginning who have evolved alongside me, and I completely support those who feel I’ve grown in different direction and decide to unfollow.
