What I love about Z-Broly is that he effortlessly moped out 2 generations of Z-Fighters (Goku,Gohan,Piccolo,Future Trunks,Vegeta) (Gohan,Videl,Goten & Kid Trunks) all could do pretty much nothing until the plot demanded he be defeated

What I find interesting is that despite sharing same plot points, when taken at face value, (betrayed/exiled by King Vegeta, father tries to defend & reject said action, gets denied, goes after son, tries to control son's power, has them wear device to do so, spends years planning revenge on King Vegeta & his lineage, both Brolys suffer through trauma & abuse) both Brolys and Paragus developed at drastically different ways. All due to timing, context, and perspective. OG Broly is thrown head first in with his first hours of birth dealing with a wailing neighbor, attempted murder on his life, left for dead and near death via exploding planet, surviving in backwater space trying to not attract attention until he snaps and achieves Super Saiyan at presumably his mid teens. Which is already a confusing time in a young boys life as us add in all these other factors he needs a way to vent his frustrations. Early young OG Paragus starts out truly caring for Broly, but overtime especially after witnessing his destructive abilities firsthand and constantly having move around due to this. Him losing his was the last straw. Thus he sought to quell Broly. At first to just limit his rampages but then he realizes the control and opportunities it provides him and then uses him as a tool from then on. So then you got a Broly with all these issues, unnaturally bottled up artificially via mind tampering for decades seemingly. You get creepy, "quiet" reserved, but unhinged Broly we introduced pre transformation. Just like serial killer trying hide his "tendencies" to appear normal. Even before he went Legendary he was clearly not all there as his first scuffle with Goku shown. He licked his blood for crying out loud. So when he does finally transformed into LSSj, it was like adrenaline rush with no limiters was upon him. He was finally free to let loose how he REALLY felt. Thus we get Psycho Devil "Wrestler" Broly. Now with DBS Broly we start initially similar, but with different circumstances. For one, they stuck Planet Vamos their whole lives, like over 40 years in fact. Then there is the fact Broly never unlocked SSJ, and his mind was never controlled via device. He was still abused via shock collar, but ultimately was allowed to be himself to an extent. As while DBS Paragus is far more fatherly here, what with teaching him manners, training him, and actually caring his well being, he still controlling via emotional manipulation and well shock torture. Oh the whole "Baba incident" of course. DBS Broly that we get see as in base is a quiet, shy, and socially awkward daddy's boy. DBS Paragus even when realized that Broly was a danger to others or when he saw could not get stronger initially wanted to get his son and leave. Showing ultimately despite his vengeance causing to control his son, he still cared for him in the end. So despite the terrible conditions it's easy to see why DBS Broly still cared for his father regardless hence why his reaction to his death was so great. Note he first turned into SSJ as an adult unlike OG Broly. Also what brought DBS Broly back from brink of rage induceinsanity, was three things, he reactionary rather the true instigator, his interactions/friendships with Baba, Lemo, & Cheelai, and the realization & fear of his own mortality (when Gogeta was about to kill him). OG Broly lacked any true positive influences only, while DBS Broly had way more. While they both had traumatic lives filled with abusive and emotional troubles, however it's where they handled and responded such issues is where they differ. Sorry for the length but I had it in mind and had to type before I forget.
@@QaamansLand Unlike most people I actually like Kale. I feel she is in-between the two Brolys. As she grew up in squalor though has it arguably better than both, what with both Caulifa & her gang. However she clearly did not always have this if her co dependency issues were any indication. Thus she had constant fear of being left alone and abandoned by her. She can't fathom a world without her and rejects any possible situation where that could happen. Hence why she reacts negatively to those who would "take away" her sister figure. I also see a bit of Gohan in her. With similar naivety and initially nonviolent attitude turned rage filled potential. However if Gohan's social circle was far smaller, lacked independence, and only one true friend. Yes she does turn into a OG Broly expy, but unlike the OG she laters tames that side of her after reaching epiphany of her feelings of uselessness and self doubt. Never wanting to burden those around her especially Caulifa. Thus leading her to retain her sanity and feel more "complete". Her tag team with Caulifa against Goku and fusion into Kefla only cements this further. Hence why I never liked the manga version just used her as a plot device to eject numerous characters, just to move the Plot along and shut her up via fusion. Not to mention the whole demon sayian thing causing them to explode was dumb in the manga. They did her character dirty there by just reducing her to a quick power up for Caulifa. Which is sad cause initially they added interesting aspects to her character like hiding here true Strength, to not one up Caulifa, and her sneaky stealth moves. Anyways her trauma is ironically self inflicted. Her biggest hurdle is getting over her insecurities and live & act for herself. Though she does share the need to express herself by doing so. That the other two also do in their own ways. In the end, I kinda see them as reflections of each other, based on alternate paths they could have took in life.

“Legendary Super Saiyan” & “Super: Broly” are my two favorite movies in the entire franchise. Eventhough I like both iterations of Broly, I definitely agree that the one from Z is way better. He was played up to be more way more sinister and intimidating, that even Vegeta was scared to fight him.
In second coming, right before the family Kamehameha, Gohan tells Broly "I've had enough" and begins his Kamehameha, then Broly tells Gohan, "Not until you lie dead at my feet". Straight savage, but also shows that he wasn't just a rage monster, he still had that sarcasm and superiority complex.
Honestly Second coming’s broly behavior is kinda justified Dude got 1 shotted in the last movie and was on the brink of death with his last words being “kakarot”, coupled that with being frozen in ice for 7 years with what waking him up being a crying child, which is also the last thing he heard (in a flashback) before getting one shotted by goku in the first film And this is added to his already psycho tendencies from the first film So him saying that line and acknowledging goku’s presence for the family kamehameha shows that he was still somewhat conscious of his surroundings, but was mentally broken for the most part
I like both Broly's myself. I think they both have their own place in Dragonball depending on the story that you prefer. Old Broly is a menace who is a sadistic SOB, whereas new Broly is more of a tragic guy who's had to suffer because of bad circumstances.

It's basically like comparing the Full Metal Alchemist animes or the Hellsing animes. They're not meant to be the same, and shouldn't be treated as such.

I think the reason I prefer the old broly is because it was just so much more simple and straightforward with his character the new broly movie had some good fight scenes but the old one is much better to watch cause that’s back when DB was simple and Broly just dominated everyone with no effort

But even so, yeah, I'll still take that one over the new Broly as well. Bio Broly too, but only because I have a soft spot for sludge/slime monsters.

The only bad part was when goku and broly square off one last time with goku getting the energy and says " the fight just started" and broly acknowledges this. They even make this cool shot of them running at each other and the landscape starting to disintegrate and them just running through the environment to have their final clash. Wished they could've fought more on equal terms after he got the enegy 😭

Old Broly was awesome as he is more savage and acted more like a maniac. However, the concept of New Broly creates more probability as he will fall in love and has deeper relationship with other characters by having more interaction in the future.
the thing is the original broly was a one time thing. it was either they kill broly or broly kills them. super broly can never be like that and i dont think he will ever come close to matching that epicness from the first movie

It annoys me when i hear people say Z Broly's backstory was stupid. DBZ Broly was the nature to Goku's nurture. Goku was able to grow beyond his saiyan heritage by making friends, and building a family. Goku was born weak as a saiyan but became stronger as a human. Z Broly never had that chance he was born strong but was a slave to his saiyan heritage, He never had a choice to become his own man like Goku. Broly doesn't hate goku because of the crying he associates the crying with Broly's past traumas. He was stabbed as a baby and almost died from Planet vegeta's explosion.

Its not even the trauma either that's the thing, In the Japanese version of the movie Paragus states its Goku's Ki that is triggering Broly's Saiyan instincts causing him to be resilient to the mind control device and Broly hated Goku because he was a low class Saiyan that refused to back down to his Superior status as the Legendary Super Saiyan. Just look at the staredown they had in the first movie when Broly immediately balled up his fist when Goku decided to stand up to him being unintimidated by his presence. Goku' crying as a baby had nothing to do with why Broly hates him he didn't even remember that Goku was the baby next to him until the end of the movie when Goku delivered the punch to his gut making Broly finally remember him, that scene with Broly and Goku as babies went over 95% of the western Fanbase heads the entire point of that scene wasn't to show that Broly hated him for crying it was to show that despite having a higher power level than Goku he was still able to affect Broly, just like what happened at the end of the movie when despite being weaker Goku still managed to defeat him. Z Broly's Backstory is poetic and highly underrated and i hate how people act like Goku crying as a baby is all that happened in his backstory when that was never even the main plot for the story🤦🏾♂️it was mainly about King Vegeta executing Broly as a baby then Frieza blowing up planet Vegeta with Broly and Paragus surviving the explosion to then have Paragus lure Vegeta into a trap to get revenge, Broly only focused on Goku because he wanted to prove his superiority as the pinnacle of Saiyans after Goku stood up to him. This fanbase is a whole headache they put empasis on the smallest things (Goku's crying) and blows it out of proportions for no reason other than to hate on a Fictional Character its ridiculous, Broly himself never mentions anything about Goku crying in his dialogue and yet this fandom actually still believes it bothers him when in reality Z Broly was laughing it off kicking everybody's ass having a good time in the movies he was in

I love base Broly more in Super, but I love LSSJ Broly more in Z. His savagery and brutality are so special. If Super Broly is Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk, then Z Broly is Jekyll & Hyde. He's not supposed to be a mindless monster, he's supposed to turn evil, sadistic, malicious, and cruel. I really want Super to have a small arc where Broly gets stuck in his LSSJ form and actually starts turning sadistic and cruel like in the first movie. That would be a very fun time. The original Broly is a true saiyan warrior unlike Super's child-friendly Broly. A saiyan in name only much like the universe 6 trash. Having none of the well established character trait found in Z.
I have a video topic idea, "could future Goku defeat the future androids". As it's not a cut and dry case. The future androids are weaker than their present counterparts and there are a number of narrative implications or just implications in general that future Goku could be stronger than the future androids, like in history of trunks there's a few bits of dialogue from Gohan that implies Goku could possibly defeat them. Anyway just an idea, since this topic is rarely ever discussed.

Z Broly in his rage form is actually pretty intelligent & aware he even mocks goku when he say that name as if he's making fun of him for abandoning his saiyan heritage. Broly is a foil to multiple characters. He's gifted like gohan but instead of being trained and cared for because of his potential he was killed and discarded for being a powerhouse. He's a direct foil to goku.. a kind saiyan who chose to follow his own path standing fearlessly in front of a legend.. a legend who embody the ruthlessness & primal nature of the saiyan race.. He's the most saiyan out of all of them. He made vegeta tremble in fear, He thought his bloodline meant something but he was wrong, the power he fought to obtain doesn't even come close to this nobody he deemed himself superior to.
1. I can’t believe I have to point this out, but Broly: Second Coming is a reference to the second coming of Christ. I.E. the title implies that Broly has a divine status of such amazing power that it his return is a second coming as if Jesus himself came back to Earth. 2. The only reason people dunk on OG Broly is because he cried over Goku screaming as a baby. It was really only included because the executives thought there absolutely had to be a tie-in backstory with Goku. Another failure of the movie is how they beat Broly. We have never seen “giving energy” to someone else from characters who have already used up their energy reserves that boosts them to that level of power. Basically, Broly was written to be unbeatable but they had to beat him because you can’t just kill off main characters.
Definitely like elements of both Brolys. But the old was a pure monster, sinister, sarcastic, and cocky. He supposed to be a menacing villian. I'm hoping at least for some portion of the new series, someone makes him go insane or mad and resemble those iconic aspects of a true legendary super saiyan.
Toriyama was probably trying to not copy too much of the OG story so he painted Super Broly with a different path, but with the same potential. Paragus as well. Another person made a good point about the similar but different relationship with Paragus. In super, they were seemingly able to travel thru space with Broly's power and that was the opposite of Super with them stranded on Vampa. The shock collar seemed to protect Vampa more than curb the psycho. OG Paragus sought to flee as soon as his control was lost, leading to that "Villain cummupons" moment like Qaaman said. In Super, he was just genuinely afraid for Broly after the device breaks but didn't want to flee. This could be to being around Frieza still but Paragus was still a caring father, unlike OG due to his actual fear of Broly's personality. I know i repeated alot of what he said but hopefully in a different light.
Would be great to see OG broly have his own saga. All they need to do is say that the maniacal and psychotic broly came from a different dimension or something

When people say broly is a crybaby he was like that because it was meant to to symbolic like a lot of thing's in japan they're both saiyans but they're opposites that's why in the first movie broly sensed goku and started getting mad, on top of that goku crying was the first thing he heard before being stabbed and being thrown away like trash but lets say something bad happens to you in real life while a song plays after that the song will freak you out everytime you hear it that's the same with broly and goku.

@@QaamansLand Strictly speaking, yes. The transformation doesn't increase his IQ, but it causes him to voice his opinions more openly. In base he is very timid; that doesn't mean he doesn't have those feelings, but that he just won't show them.
Its also weird how in the 2nd broly movie that vegeta and piccolo never help in the fight. You would think that they would feal broly's power or even gohan powering up, It's just weird.
Seeing Broly kill his father was scary beyond all the other destruction he just caused because it showed he had no limits and loved nothing anymore, he was too far gone at that point. It also reminded us to how messed up and cruel King Vegeta and Frieza were because Paragus and Broly were biproducts of that event.
Super Broly should’ve been the prodigy that OG Broly was. Old Broly figured out how to become a super saiyan without grief or desperation. I imagine it wasn’t as easy as how Trunks and Goten did it, or the ridiculous method of tingling his back. Super Broly should’ve become more sadistic as he ascended rather than savage and berserk. His training arc is going to take too long.

@@frankcasamento74 I think the main reasons why a lot of fans don’t like Kale is because of how clingy she is with Caulifla, how Cabba explained how to become a super saiyan and how Kale didn’t have much development before showcasing her powers. I think we should’ve gotten a back story for Kale. Maybe she killed her parents in a fit of rage on accident. Maybe she showed a hint of her powers on a mission and hurt/killed some of her comrades. Maybe she was treated like an outcast for being born with unnatural latent abilities and not really being a fighter. I disliked her for a while, but I feel like there’s more to her than what we’ve seen.

I maintain that the thing that really makes movie 8 broly so great is his pain and kind of avoidance of turning into the LSS. His entire being is changed after transforming. And to make new broly a rage monster where his transformation doesn't really change anything except his power makes him a bit boring
Power-wise, old Broly erases a whole a whole galaxy...I think we've yet to see a savage display of power like that in Super. And no, Zeno's doesnt count as he's essentially god in all aspects.

@@QaamansLand Well in Z the characters definitely had more personality - Goku is not mindless like he is in Super, sure he is stubborn but he just loves to fight that's who is. Also many characters that were aleast prominent for an arc are now shoved to the side, we hardly hear about the original side characters anymore. (Gohan for example) Another example is Trunks he hasn't even matured and still acts the same in Super (Although also have to consider his PTSD so I could understand that) but it's really is unfortunate since in Z he was one of my favorites. Overall I'll continue to read Super because its entertaining to me but the characters aren't the same.

Honestly all Broly needed in Super was a new backstory.. Not become anime hulk....People can say the new Broly is better, yet it's the Z version that made the character became so iconic.
Aside from Broly being far more menacing and malicious in the first movies, the environmental effects in that movie added to the sense of his power. A character punches another, the shockwave is felt 500 miles away, even makes big buildings collapse at that distance. A character throws another to the ground, the resulting crater is 50 miles wide. One energy blast from someone, an entire mountain range is vaporized. That kind of thing seems less prominent in the later Broly story, although that Broly is a far more sympathetic character.
It would be awesome if Super Broly acts and talks more like Z Broly when he transforms into lssg or his full powered ssj form(the green hair) as if he had 2 personalities one kind and loving and the other being merciless and brutal giving him pretty much an inner demon which I think is pretty cool
I still like new Brolys backstory though. His personality is a little bland though not gonna lie and I think that was the point you were trying to make.
I just don't like brainless berserker Broly. It's why Broly 2 and 3 were terrible. Super Broly jumps Straight to Brainless Berserker and will never be the absolute Demon that movie 1 Broly was. It's similar to why I think Cell Max was an enormous disappointment. (Still enjoyed seeing Piccolo getting a new form and some spotlight for once) It was just another Big Powerful Thing, and it wasn't Cell at all. Cell's Charisma and motivations are his greatest strengths as a villain: He actually wants to fight, he wants to be the strongest and prove it, He's like an Evil Goku, an Actual Evil Goku and not some God using his body for genocide. The way Cell talks and fights, and his reasons for doing what he does are what make him interesting. They gave us Hirudegarn in a Cell Costume. I'm also not a fan of Super Broly's instant 'redemption', because it means this insanely overpowered Guy joins the 'good guys', and you know what that means; he's either getting a serious nerf into irrelevance or he's never gonna be around. Also getting really sick of the trope that the most powerful characters in Super are the ones that literally turn their brains off. The Super Broly movie is why I don't understand people who are asking for a Super Cooler movie. You won't get the character you actually want, you'll get the ultimate deconfirm of the character you want.

What I find interesting is that despite sharing same plot points, when taken at face value, (betrayed/exiled by King Vegeta, father tries to defend & reject said action, gets denied, goes after son, tries to control son's power, has them wear device to do so, spends years planning revenge on King Vegeta & his lineage, both Brolys suffer through trauma & abuse) both Brolys and Paragus developed at drastically different ways. All due to timing, context, and perspective.
OG Broly is thrown head first in with his first hours of birth dealing with a wailing neighbor, attempted murder on his life, left for dead and near death via exploding planet, surviving in backwater space trying to not attract attention until he snaps and achieves Super Saiyan at presumably his mid teens. Which is already a confusing time in a young boys life as us add in all these other factors he needs a way to vent his frustrations. Early young OG Paragus starts out truly caring for Broly, but overtime especially after witnessing his destructive abilities firsthand and constantly having move around due to this. Him losing his was the last straw. Thus he sought to quell Broly. At first to just limit his rampages but then he realizes the control and opportunities it provides him and then uses him as a tool from then on.
So then you got a Broly with all these issues, unnaturally bottled up artificially via mind tampering for decades seemingly. You get creepy, "quiet" reserved, but unhinged Broly we introduced pre transformation. Just like serial killer trying hide his "tendencies" to appear normal. Even before he went Legendary he was clearly not all there as his first scuffle with Goku shown. He licked his blood for crying out loud. So when he does finally transformed into LSSj, it was like adrenaline rush with no limiters was upon him. He was finally free to let loose how he REALLY felt. Thus we get Psycho Devil "Wrestler" Broly.
Now with DBS Broly we start initially similar, but with different circumstances. For one, they stuck Planet Vamos their whole lives, like over 40 years in fact. Then there is the fact Broly never unlocked SSJ, and his mind was never controlled via device. He was still abused via shock collar, but ultimately was allowed to be himself to an extent.
As while DBS Paragus is far more fatherly here, what with teaching him manners, training him, and actually caring his well being, he still controlling via emotional manipulation and well shock torture. Oh the whole "Baba incident" of course. DBS Broly that we get see as in base is a quiet, shy, and socially awkward daddy's boy. DBS Paragus even when realized that Broly was a danger to others or when he saw could not get stronger initially wanted to get his son and leave. Showing ultimately despite his vengeance causing to control his son, he still cared for him in the end.
So despite the terrible conditions it's easy to see why DBS Broly still cared for his father regardless hence why his reaction to his death was so great. Note he first turned into SSJ as an adult unlike OG Broly. Also what brought DBS Broly back from brink of rage induceinsanity, was three things, he reactionary rather the true instigator, his interactions/friendships with Baba, Lemo, & Cheelai, and the realization & fear of his own mortality (when Gogeta was about to kill him). OG Broly lacked any true positive influences only, while DBS Broly had way more. While they both had traumatic lives filled with abusive and emotional troubles, however it's where they handled and responded such issues is where they differ. Sorry for the length but I had it in mind and had to type before I forget.

@@QaamansLand Unlike most people I actually like Kale. I feel she is in-between the two Brolys. As she grew up in squalor though has it arguably better than both, what with both Caulifa & her gang. However she clearly did not always have this if her co dependency issues were any indication. Thus she had constant fear of being left alone and abandoned by her. She can't fathom a world without her and rejects any possible situation where that could happen. Hence why she reacts negatively to those who would "take away" her sister figure.
I also see a bit of Gohan in her. With similar naivety and initially nonviolent attitude turned rage filled potential. However if Gohan's social circle was far smaller, lacked independence, and only one true friend. Yes she does turn into a OG Broly expy, but unlike the OG she laters tames that side of her after reaching epiphany of her feelings of uselessness and self doubt. Never wanting to burden those around her especially Caulifa. Thus leading her to retain her sanity and feel more "complete". Her tag team with Caulifa against Goku and fusion into Kefla only cements this further.
Hence why I never liked the manga version just used her as a plot device to eject numerous characters, just to move the Plot along and shut her up via fusion. Not to mention the whole demon sayian thing causing them to explode was dumb in the manga. They did her character dirty there by just reducing her to a quick power up for Caulifa. Which is sad cause initially they added interesting aspects to her character like hiding here true Strength, to not one up Caulifa, and her sneaky stealth moves.
Anyways her trauma is ironically self inflicted. Her biggest hurdle is getting over her insecurities and live & act for herself. Though she does share the need to express herself by doing so. That the other two also do in their own ways. In the end, I kinda see them as reflections of each other, based on alternate paths they could have took in life.

“Legendary Super Saiyan” & “Super: Broly” are my two favorite movies in the entire franchise. Eventhough I like both iterations of Broly, I definitely agree that the one from Z is way better. He was played up to be more way more sinister and intimidating, that even Vegeta was scared to fight him.
In second coming, right before the family Kamehameha, Gohan tells Broly "I've had enough" and begins his Kamehameha, then Broly tells Gohan, "Not until you lie dead at my feet". Straight savage, but also shows that he wasn't just a rage monster, he still had that sarcasm and superiority complex.

Dude got 1 shotted in the last movie and was on the brink of death with his last words being “kakarot”, coupled that with being frozen in ice for 7 years with what waking him up being a crying child, which is also the last thing he heard (in a flashback) before getting one shotted by goku in the first film
And this is added to his already psycho tendencies from the first film
So him saying that line and acknowledging goku’s presence for the family kamehameha shows that he was still somewhat conscious of his surroundings, but was mentally broken for the most part

I like both Broly's myself. I think they both have their own place in Dragonball depending on the story that you prefer. Old Broly is a menace who is a sadistic SOB, whereas new Broly is more of a tragic guy who's had to suffer because of bad circumstances.

Considering vegeta was confident in beating frieza after becoming stronger from zenkais during the namek arc, no, he wasnt scared of frieza and kept on trying to fight him till frieza began to be semi serious
For broly, the sheer transformation alone made vegeta quiver in fear and had it not been for piccolo’s intervention on telling him to fight, vegeta would have most definitely stayed pissing his pants till the movie ended

I think the reason I prefer the old broly is because it was just so much more simple and straightforward with his character the new broly movie had some good fight scenes but the old one is much better to watch cause that’s back when DB was simple and Broly just dominated everyone with no effort

The only bad part was when goku and broly square off one last time with goku getting the energy and says " the fight just started" and broly acknowledges this. Old Broly was awesome as he is more savage and acted more like a maniac. However, the concept of New Broly creates more probability as he will fall in love and has deeper relationship with other characters by having more interaction in the future.

DBZ Broly was the nature to Goku's nurture. Goku was able to grow beyond his saiyan heritage by making friends, and building a family. Goku was born weak as a saiyan but became stronger as a human.
Z Broly never had that chance he was born strong but was a slave to his saiyan heritage, He never had a choice to become his own man like Goku.
Broly doesn't hate goku because of the crying he associates the crying with Broly's past traumas. He was stabbed as a baby and almost died from Planet vegeta's explosion.

Its not even the trauma either that's the thing, In the Japanese version of the movie Paragus states its Goku's Ki that is triggering Broly's Saiyan instincts causing him to be resilient to the mind control device and Broly hated Goku because he was a low class Saiyan that refused to back down to his Superior status as the Legendary Super Saiyan. Just look at the staredown they had in the first movie when Broly immediately balled up his fist when Goku decided to stand up to him being unintimidated by his presence. Goku' crying as a baby had nothing to do with why Broly hates him he didn't even remember that Goku was the baby next to him until the end of the movie when Goku delivered the punch to his gut making Broly finally remember him, that scene with Broly and Goku as babies went over 95% of the western Fanbase heads the entire point of that scene wasn't to show that Broly hated him for crying it was to show that despite having a higher power level than Goku he was still able to affect Broly, just like what happened at the end of the movie when despite being weaker Goku still managed to defeat him. Z Broly's Backstory is poetic and highly underrated and i hate how people act like Goku crying as a baby is all that happened in his backstory when that was never even the main plot for the story🤦🏾♂️it was mainly about King Vegeta executing Broly as a baby then Frieza blowing up planet Vegeta with Broly and Paragus surviving the explosion to then have Paragus lure Vegeta into a trap to get revenge, Broly only focused on Goku because he wanted to prove his superiority as the pinnacle of Saiyans after Goku stood up to him. This fanbase is a whole headache they put empasis on the smallest things (Goku's crying) and blows it out of proportions for no reason other than to hate on a Fictional Character its ridiculous, Broly himself never mentions anything about Goku crying in his dialogue and yet this fandom actually still believes it bothers him when in reality Z Broly was laughing it off kicking everybody's ass having a good time in the movies he was in

I have a video topic idea, "could future Goku defeat the future androids". As it's not a cut and dry case. The future androids are weaker than their present counterparts and there are a number of narrative implications or just implications in general that future Goku could be stronger than the future androids, like in history of trunks there's a few bits of dialogue from Gohan that implies Goku could possibly defeat them.
Anyway just an idea, since this topic is rarely ever discussed.

Z Broly in his rage form is actually pretty intelligent & aware he even mocks goku when he say that name as if he's making fun of him for abandoning his saiyan heritage. Broly is a foil to multiple characters. He's gifted like gohan but instead of being trained and cared for because of his potential he was killed and discarded for being a powerhouse. He's a direct foil to goku.. a kind saiyan who chose to follow his own path standing fearlessly in front of a legend.. a legend who embody the ruthlessness & primal nature of the saiyan race.. He's the most saiyan out of all of them. He made vegeta tremble in fear, He thought his bloodline meant something but he was wrong, the power he fought to obtain doesn't even come close to this nobody he deemed himself superior to.
1. I can’t believe I have to point this out, but Broly: Second Coming is a reference to the second coming of Christ. I.E. the title implies that Broly has a divine status of such amazing power that it his return is a second coming as if Jesus himself came back to Earth.
2. The only reason people dunk on OG Broly is because he cried over Goku screaming as a baby. It was really only included because the executives thought there absolutely had to be a tie-in backstory with Goku. Another failure of the movie is how they beat Broly. We have never seen “giving energy” to someone else from characters who have already used up their energy reserves that boosts them to that level of power. Basically, Broly was written to be unbeatable but they had to beat him because you can’t just kill off main characters.
Definitely like elements of both Brolys. But the old was a pure monster, sinister, sarcastic, and cocky. He supposed to be a menacing villian. I'm hoping at least for some portion of the new series, someone makes him go insane or mad and resemble those iconic aspects of a true legendary super saiyan.

Toriyama was probably trying to not copy too much of the OG story so he painted Super Broly with a different path, but with the same potential. Paragus as well. Another person made a good point about the similar but different relationship with Paragus. In super, they were seemingly able to travel thru space with Broly's power and that was the opposite of Super with them stranded on Vampa. The shock collar seemed to protect Vampa more than curb the psycho. OG Paragus sought to flee as soon as his control was lost, leading to that "Villain cummupons" moment like Qaaman said. In Super, he was just genuinely afraid for Broly after the device breaks but didn't want to flee. This could be to being around Frieza still but Paragus was still a caring father, unlike OG due to his actual fear of Broly's personality. I know i repeated alot of what he said but hopefully in a different light.
Would be great to see OG broly have his own saga. All they need to do is say that the maniacal and psychotic broly came from a different dimension or something

Seeing Broly kill his father was scary beyond all the other destruction he just caused because it showed he had no limits and loved nothing anymore, he was too far gone at that point. It also reminded us to how messed up and cruel King Vegeta and Frieza were because Paragus and Broly were biproducts of that event.

Super Broly should’ve been the prodigy that OG Broly was. Old Broly figured out how to become a super saiyan without grief or desperation. I imagine it wasn’t as easy as how Trunks and Goten did it, or the ridiculous method of tingling his back. Super Broly should’ve become more sadistic as he ascended rather than savage and berserk. His training arc is going to take too long.

@@frankcasamento74 I think the main reasons why a lot of fans don’t like Kale is because of how clingy she is with Caulifla, how Cabba explained how to become a super saiyan and how Kale didn’t have much development before showcasing her powers. I think we should’ve gotten a back story for Kale. Maybe she killed her parents in a fit of rage on accident. Maybe she showed a hint of her powers on a mission and hurt/killed some of her comrades. Maybe she was treated like an outcast for being born with unnatural latent abilities and not really being a fighter. I disliked her for a while, but I feel like there’s more to her than what we’ve seen.

@@QaamansLand Well in Z the characters definitely had more personality - Goku is not mindless like he is in Super, sure he is stubborn but he just loves to fight that's who is. Also many characters that were aleast prominent for an arc are now shoved to the side, we hardly hear about the original side characters anymore. (Gohan for example) Another example is Trunks he hasn't even matured and still acts the same in Super (Although also have to consider his PTSD so I could understand that) but it's really is unfortunate since in Z he was one of my favorites. Overall I'll continue to read Super because its entertaining to me but the characters aren't the same.
There might be an argument for DBS vegeta being better at least and maybe Frieza
@@jmchord Even when super does give charcters spotlights like gohan with the new movie, It just feels empty like they didnt expand on anything with gohan. Just gave him a new form just to shut gohan fans up and call it a day

Love both versions of broly but I do agree that he's more interesting as a villain rather than an angrier gohan.
Idk how ppl can say DBS Broly has a better backstory than Z Broly. Can they not pick up on the nuance of Goku’s crying being a PTSD trigger for the day he was stabbed/almost died as a kid? Do they need the movie to flat out state it for them to pick up on that? They both had a traumatic past. We don’t talk about how SC and Bio-Broly made og Broly a meme lol

Honestly all Broly needed in Super was a new backstory.. Not become anime hulk....People can say the new Broly is better, yet it's the Z version that made the character became so iconic.
Imo he didn’t really need that either
Aside from Broly being far more menacing and malicious in the first movies, the environmental effects in that movie added to the sense of his power. A character punches another, the shockwave is felt 500 miles away, even makes big buildings collapse at that distance. A character throws another to the ground, the resulting crater is 50 miles wide. One energy blast from someone, an entire mountain range is vaporized. That kind of thing seems less prominent in the later Broly story, although that Broly is a far more sympathetic character.

It would be awesome if Super Broly acts and talks more like Z Broly when he transforms into lssg or his full powered ssj form(the green hair) as if he had 2 personalities one kind and loving and the other being merciless and brutal giving him pretty much an inner demon which I think is pretty cool

I just don't like brainless berserker Broly. It's why Broly 2 and 3 were terrible.
Super Broly jumps Straight to Brainless Berserker and will never be the absolute Demon that movie 1 Broly was.
It's similar to why I think Cell Max was an enormous disappointment. (Still enjoyed seeing Piccolo getting a new form and some spotlight for once)
It was just another Big Powerful Thing, and it wasn't Cell at all. Cell's Charisma and motivations are his greatest strengths as a villain: He actually wants to fight, he wants to be the strongest and prove it, He's like an Evil Goku, an Actual Evil Goku and not some God using his body for genocide.
The way Cell talks and fights, and his reasons for doing what he does are what make him interesting.
They gave us Hirudegarn in a Cell Costume.
I'm also not a fan of Super Broly's instant 'redemption', because it means this insanely overpowered Guy joins the 'good guys', and you know what that means; he's either getting a serious nerf into irrelevance or he's never gonna be around.
Also getting really sick of the trope that the most powerful characters in Super are the ones that literally turn their brains off.
The Super Broly movie is why I don't understand people who are asking for a Super Cooler movie. You won't get the character you actually want, you'll get the ultimate deconfirm of the character you want.
