You're right. The carnation milk and the cheese blocks makes the difference. My mom used both. The carnation milk adds creaminess but it also adds a certain flavor I can't describe but it's a game changer 👍🏼
There’s just something about that freshly grated cheese in mac and cheese. It’s so good. I love cooking with carnation milk. I use it in my sweet potato pies too . It sounds like your mother was a wonderful cook. Thanks so much for watching! ~Andrea
Nothing in this life is more delicious, more comforting, more pleasing than brilliantly made mac-n-cheese! Thank you for your recipe and the video...GOD bless your family.
Thanks for the share. We found your channel recently, and ask why we did not find you sooner. We are seasoned citizens, who grew up in a very simple time period. We wish Blessings upon your household, and Family. Side note: we would not mind your 1 year old, we would spoil further, cause that is what we do.
Hi Steven! I really appreciate your kindness. It makes me happy to hear that my recipes bring back so many wonderful memories. I love to make and share simple food for my family and friends to enjoy. Blessings to you and your household too. And you are welcome to spoil our baby any time! Have a wonderful holiday weekend! ~Andrea 😊
Great recipe! I like to use extra sharp cheddar as well: in fact, this past Thanksgiving I made the best mac and cheese ever with extra sharp cheddar and parmesan in equal parts. I always use evaporated milk in my mac and cheese as well. It's a Southern thing, I think!
Thank you! I haven't tried parmesan. I bet that was sooo good. I think I might try that next time. I totally agree about the evaporated milk, lol! Thanks for watching. Happy New Year! ~Andrea
My mom always cracks eggs separately and takes the white thing out of them too! hahaha In true "like mother, like daughter" fashion,I do the same thing. I am absolutely going to try this~1 of my favorite comfort foods,simplified...all thanks to Foodamentary. I'm so happy I came across this gem of a channel, and THANK YOU,Andrea!
Haha! Yeah, I don't why that white thing bothers me so much. I know it's harmless, but I can't help myself, lol! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. And I'm so glad you ran across our channel too. There is so much turmoil in the world right now, your positive and sweet attitude is refreshing. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a wonderful day! ~Andrea
@@FoodamentaryAdventuresinFood What a kind thing to say,Andrea. It's so rare and comforting to come across people like you, especially during times like these. I tried the crockpot mac & cheese for dinner earlier, along with your baked beans recipe and bbq'd chicken. Oh my,what a gamechanger, and oh so easy! Thanks to you,I have a new (and the best way) to make mac & cheese! :) Thank you so much,Andrea!
Yay! I'm so glad you liked the mac and cheese and the rest of your meal! It sounds like you had a feast. Yum! Thank you for always being so kind. I hope you have a wonderful day!
I take white knot out of the egg also! Thought I was the only one! No matter what I'm making, no matter how many eggs. Dessert forks and a paper towel work best for me. Hee hee

Thanks for sharing this Andrea! I have made a few different recipes for crockpot mac and cheese but they all come out like box mac and cheese. Very bland and very "loose". This looks like my homemade baked mac and cheese😋😋😋So glad you shared it. Blessings❤

I’ve always read that the blood spot in an egg is very early fertilization of the egg. I’ve never seen this myself, but it does happen. The little white thingie in the egg is a very early embryo off a baby chicken!! (Yep..fairly yucky I agree & so is the blood spot! 🤢) They don’t hurt anything to eat them, but the idea of doing that just is a bit nauseating, right? Lol! If anyone had heard anything different about this egg thing, please let me know. Hugs to all♥️
Yes, that white thing and the blood both gross me out 😩. I usually find the blood spots in the organic eggs. I stopped buying them after finding blood in most of the eggs. Thanks for your insight! I appreciate you watching! ~Andrea 😊
Glad to see you crack eggs in a separate bowl, my home economics teacher taught me that years ago but all the videos I watch the eggs are cracked into the rest of the ingredients of the recipe.
Yes, my great grandmother taught me that you never know when you’ll get a bad egg, so I’ve always done it that way. Sounds like your home ec teacher and my grandma were like minded! Thanks so much for watching! ~Andrea
If your crock pot is smaller, you may need to cook it longer because there will be more mac and cheese in a smaller crock pot. I’d recommend thirty extra minutes and then check to see if the center is set. Thanks for watching! ~Andrea
Hi Crystal! Thanks so much for stopping by. So glad you liked the recipe. I just subbed to your channel too. Looking forward to seeing more from your channel! ~Andrea 😊
Most of the time when I encounter something I dont know about, i try looking it up to find an answer. According to an article those stringy white things in eggs are merely there to help keep the yolks from damage by hitting anywhere inside the shell. One looks like an umbilical cord (but is not) and attaches the yolk with one end and the narrow end of the shell with the other. They are called the CHALAZA (KAH-LAY-ZAH), CHALAZAE (plural). They are made of protein therefore it's not dangerous to consume. I've tried taking them out before with my clean fingers then with a spoon but they are seriously slippery. Unless they're strained, you'll never win that battle either. Good luck. Good video.
Thanks so much for the information. I didn’t know the chalaza were there to keep the egg from getting damaged. I learned something new today. They are slippery little suckers though, lol! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching! ~Andrea
No, you don’t have to add the egg but it does act as a binder. It will still be just as tasty though. I hope y’all enjoy it! Thanks for watching! ~Andrea

I’ve made it in the oven in a 9x13 pan and baked it for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. You can also try it in the crock pot on high for about 2-2.5 hours, just keep an eye on it. Thanks so much for watching! ~Andrea
@@FoodamentaryAdventuresinFood Thank you so much. I am making it but mine started really getting brown on the bottom so I had to stir it. Could it be because I only used one box of noodles?
The recipe calls for half a box of pasta. Did you double all of the ingredients? If not, it maybe too much pasta and that might be why it’s getting so brown.
