I've made this mistake so I wanted to clarify for those looking--adding an ethyl group tends to change the chain. For instance hexane. Adding an ethyl group to the a 3-carbon chain just creates a 4-carbon chain with two methyl groups. It looks different at first glance, but you always want to make sure to recount the longest chain. That being said, for heptane there are nine structural isomers.
yep always remember to stop for a few seconds to make sure you're cooking right
You are awesome.... Helping a lot i don't know how to express it but all i can say you is u r love man ❤️❤️❤️
You are the best, you just made me understand this topic🙂
in 4:16 should it be named 2,2-dimethylpropane?
He did say "2,2-dimethylpropane" but miswrote the name as ~pentane. Good catch though. I was thinking the same thing.
yea i saw it too
Just caught it as well!
Really helpful!! Thank you :-)
bruh this guy probably eats carbon atoms.....amazing video.
sillybilly297 hello
Hey silly billy make sure u eat ur goat meat and ur roti
Only then u will become molish molish cool guy
@@krishkain5083 what weed are you smoking?
Food is made up of carbon atoms. Therefore, everyone eats carbon atoms. XD
At 5.32 can we put one group on the top and the other group at the bottom ? rather than two groups on the top ?
At 4:17 you wrote 2,2-dimethylpentane. Why is it pentane and not propane? You marked 3 carbons on your parent chain
Minor error...you are correct. 2,2-dimethylpropane would be the correct name
If you notice, he said propane but wrote pentane
you are right. there's a small error.
7:20 For heptane isnt there the possibility of forming 3- ethylpeptane? Having a five carbon chain with ethyl on the third carbon
But then the main chain will change and hence we will get the same name
How come there were any ethyl groups when trying to find the isomers?
thank you so much
Th ank you very much.
Heptane has 9 isomers , i think you missed 3 carbon with 2 carbons having 2 carbon branch each , correct me if I'm wrong
Xerox yh 9 isomers
Yaaa ur right
Thank you so much
you are missing 3-ethylpentane, the 9th isomer of heptane
This is amazing thanks mate
are cyclo alkanes consitutional isomer?
is there a general formula to identify the total number of constitutional isomers?
I think this formula it’s work (2^n-4 +1)n:means the number of carbon
@@bayanabdullah7562 thanks but this formula fails at C8 and higher.
I would assume that it'd be so complex that there would be no point in learning it
How would you name the 4-carbon isomer for heptane? The C7H16 molecule? I've named the rest for this one...
2,2 Dimethyl-3MethylButane.
Can't we add an ethyl isomer in heptane (3-ethylpentane)?
But then the main chain will change and hence we will get the same name
@@amitojsinghgrover2494idk about the name, but that chain isn't shown in the video and it should be possible as a functional isomer
also it would be 3-ethylpentane because you always choose the longest chain and in this case it's 5
You are wrong heptane have 9 isomers but you only write 8 of them, but i admire your work that in great.
What about 3 -ethylpentane for c7h16?
7:25 what about 3-ethylpentane???
heptane has 9 isomers not 8
Heptane forms 9 and octane forms 18 isomers
4:06 isn't it called 2,2-dimethylpropane?
It is. Bro mad a mistake
4:04 are this 2,2-methyl propane or 2,2-methyl pentane
Hosam Mohamed It's 2,2-dimethylpropane
The third constitutional isomer of C5H12 is 2,2-dimethyl propane, not 2,2- dimethyl pentane as you have illustrated......nice presentation though
4:19 you meant 2,2dimethylpropane
this video is extremely usefull but i think you were not prepared, huge thanks any ways
i thought nomenclature cannot be the same
when i get my chem degree and make meth- i shall give u some of my millions
daddy
Can you speak arbic please
Osama Alqnas so singong mag-aadjust?
