Just ordered an aftermarket bushing for like 7 bucks. Had I know it was that easy I would have fixed it a LONG time ago 😂
Hahaha... ME TOO!! 👍😎
Glad I could help.
Good straight forward video helped me out. I did take both bolts out and it slipped on much easier. Takes a little work to line the bolt holes up but still not difficult.
Glad I could help!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video for us. Cheers from AU.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just took out the whole steering column then decided to watch this! I’m having a great day
Well, glad I could help... belatedly :)
Thanks. The video helped me change mine out. Appreciate it.
Glad I could help, John
Keep watching 😀
Thanks for the video! Gave me great guidelines because mine was not as easy as it appears. I was successful but did remove both bolts and no extension required. Lots of grease too!!
Glad to help
And yes... LOTS of grease :)
I use Vaseline on mine
i have my bushing ordeded thanks for the repair video, can wait to put it on...
Glad to help

This helped me a lot
Wow... that's great. Glad to help!
Yep, exactly what I needed much appreciated replaced mine just now!
EXCELLENT!!!
Glad to be able to help! 😎
@@BIGALTX ye man
life saver🙏🏼
Happy to help 👍😀
Anti - seize compound which has a good deal of graphite in it works great too.
Great tip!
Thank u so much that’s what’s wrong with mine
Works like a charm
No problems since
Glad to help
Excellent vid, will be doing this asap! I hit everything with PB Blaster and it helped a bit but it's obviously too stiff.
Glad to help.
It’s really pretty doggone easy. You can do it! 😊
You had stiff steering? That's my oroblem
@@floridagirl386 The handle bars were wobbly which made it harder to turn, so that might be your problem
@@BIGALTX I haven't even thought to see if they're wobbly. They never seemed like it but I'll check
Thank you sir I'm in a wheelchair I thought I was going to have to get underneath of it and reach up in there.
Glad I could help! 👍🏻😎
Good job Honda would charged a big chunk of change to put that in.
You bet.
I didn't even ask how much.. I just bought the part :)
Is this the upper steering stem shaft? Cause my bushing went out on my 98’ 300 fourtrax
I think that's what it's called.
It's the bushing at the very top of the shaft
Mine has this terrible squeaking sound and the steering is very stiff, I’ve tried lubing it, cleaning it and none of those helped would this fix it?
Usually, when this needs replacing, there is a lot of play in the handlebars. They move back-and-forth and forward and back quite a bit. That’s what this bushing does. So, I’m not sure if that’s your problem or not.
there's a bearing above the front diff and inner tie rods it can wear out, ive had to change it before, if you have a 95-00 honda 300 use this link to get the service manual

Thanks for the link!
@@BIGALTX no prob
Did you get the squeaking figured out? Mine does the same.
Hey everybody he didn't tell you this but on the right hand side the brake line is in the way unclipping from the clips then you're good
👍😎
can you tell me what is exactly this bushing part number?
And can you tell me what is a diameter of steering shaft on this bike?
No, I threw the package away.
I just called the nearest Honda dealer and he had the part.
@@BIGALTX
Ok, can you just check diameter of steering column? I need for some other ATV and I'm not sure will it fit.
@@zokonjazokonja I don't think I can get in there with calipers to measure it.
@@BIGALTX OK, thanks
👍👍👍
Thanks!
What makes one get tired
They just crack and deteriorate from age and heat
1990 fourtrax300 4x4?
I don't know.
You need to look at the parts list for your model and see.
Mine is a 1998 Recon
where did the old one go?
The Trash
@@BIGALTX i never seen you remove it
@@danmcginn772
Now that you mention it... I think it had already fell off.
@@BIGALTX thats my point, where the heck did it go? I never heard of one coming out on it's own??
unless it got all crushed up and the debris is still in your steering column
@@danmcginn772
The steering column is just basically a pipe.
I think it just crumbled and fell out on the ground.
It wasn't there when I made the repair
Damn man !!! Wash that thing once a year and keep it in a a barn or garage to keep all that dirt and mildew off of it. Is this typical of your maintenance for other stuff? Mine is a 96 and looks much better than yours and mine has been across about 10 states on pipeline construction work. Mine is a 300TRX but the steering is identical.
It's under a shed 100% of the time, but yes... I don't wash it often.
And the cleanest atv award goes to ....
Proper manners go a long way. Maybe give it a try.
very good scripture very good, especially when trying to cross a bog, pleas try and not take short cuts. hahahahlol the distance may be shorter but no means is it quicker, but you do get to admire the other side a lot longer. lol lol lol hehehe
Good point! :)
