Any updates on your Acty restoration? I'd love to see what you've been able to do and things you've learned. I'm in the process of restoring one myself. :)
I have gathered a ton of new parts! Currently working on fixing all the dents to prepare for a new paint job then I will get started on all the other modifications. Last month the truck lost all power and wouldn’t run. I had to remove the carburetor and replace both solenoids. Now it is running better than it ever has since I’ve owned it!
Also if you are on instagram I post more frequent updates about the truck on there. I try to wait until I have a full video with alot of work accomplished before I post on TH-cam.
I’m running a 175/70-13 and so far no rubbing. I don’t have a spacer but the distance between the spring and the tire is only about an inch so it’s pretty tight.
They scrub the slightest bit if you are at full lock to either side. So I think 13” is probably the biggest wheels you can put on these without a lift or spacers.
Let us know where you get your parts, how the availability is, the ship time, how the driveability is! I want one so bad, but getting it to mid-canada is a little daunting
Really depends on the options and overall condition. Non A/C vs A/C and 2wd vs 4wd can change the price substantially. I would say generally you can find a good truck with no rust in the 6-8k range
It should have a slower theoretical top speed with a larger outer diameter. The rim is also larger, and heavier, which adds rolling resistance. You want a smaller lighter wheel and tire for top speed
@@jamesbradley2468this is actually incorrect. Your top speed will be higher with a larger diameter tire. This is exactly how Golf Cart owners raise their top speed: larger tires. The downside is your initial acceleration speed is slowed by larger tires. I have a modified Yamaha golf cart with a lift and larger tires. This raised my top speed to about 28mph. But my acceleration from zero was sacrificed unfortunately.
You have to take into consideration, year, mileage, 4wd or 2wd, ac or non ac, and overall condition (some trucks have bad rust from Japan). You can find these trucks usually priced from 6k all the way up to 15k. I would try to find one that has already been titled and registered to take out the hassle of dealing with DMV.
Yes, as long as you don’t have to get on any major interstates for your commute this truck will keep up with traffic just fine. I would also do your research when it comes to the safety of these trucks. Minimal crash support and no airbags makes them more dangerous than your modern vehicle if you get in an accident.

This thing is so cool, I would love to have one!
As someone who has got one, can’t recommend it enough. 72 mph is enough for me
I used to work on the Daihatsu version of Kei trucks when I was in the USAF. Ours topped out at 20mph though...
dang they must have had a governor on it!
@@BayCityRestorations VERY low gearing. They were at redline…often!
lol never allowed to pass 2nd gear
Can't wait to see what you do to it.
Hell ya! Can't wait to see this thing finished!
We are definitely going to have to get some pictures of the acty and crx together 😁
Estarei acompanhando daqui do brasil, adoro seus projetos.
Awesome thank you!
Bout to get one that's the same year. Already determining which engine I wanna K-swap it with
Love this lil guy. Hope you show it hauling a bike.
Great new build buddy! Willbe an nice addition to the garage 😎
Thanks man! Looking forward to cracking into it! 😁
Dude that 83 BMW is gorgeous
Appreciate it!
Love those trucks... I want one too !
They are so much fun!
I think those small trucks are so neat.
They are great! I’ve been driving it more than my f150.
god, your house is beautiful 😊❤ like every small town mans dream house.
I appreciate it! 🙌🏻
More bikes to come - sweet!!
Love the tag!

Any issues with those tires rubbing?

Great for small business startups
so 13'' wheels work with the acty and dont rub on the fenders? Been trying to figure out best way to get bigger wheels without a lift.

That truck is pretty rough.
It’s going to need a lot of work.
And I’m sure you’ll do a great job at getting it fixed up the way you want it.
Hardly in rough shape my friend.

If you don't mind the curiosity, how much did you pay for that one? It looks very clean
Seems like he said they were going for around 10k but he got it for a good deal.
What’s the going price for one of these here in the states?

What headlights did you end up using?
Here is a link to the bulbs I used. amzn.to/3OzF8hk
How is it going a year later?
Loved every minute with the truck. Check out my latest video for the full build I did. I just recently sold it. Looking to buy another one soon.
How did you clean the engine bay?
All purpose cleaner and a brush. Rinsed off lightly and then blew everything out with compressed air.
@@BayCityRestorationsthanks a load mate
Could you use it as a motorcycle transport?
can a motorcycle fit on it?
Yes that is the plan!
What size wheels are those? Looking to get a new set found some 14” del sol ones that may work curious on options
These are 13” wheels with a 175/70-13 tire.
I put 14” rims on my 98 acty and no issues with rubbing 165/60 14 tyres
Did you gain any top end speed when you switched to 13 inch tires?
I don’t think it helped much with max speed but it definitely helped make the ride more comfortable and less bumpy.

Are you gonna get rid of the factory 12” wheels?
Yes, I plan on keeping them just incase I sell the truck in the future and the next guy wants the original wheels.
How are getting parts for it
eBay has pretty much everything you can think of for these trucks
How fast can this go?
I keep it around 50-55mph. I can push it to 65mph but I don’t do it for long.
Hey, I'm wondering if there are street legal in South Florida. I want to get one. Thank you!
Yes, there are some restrictions but you can get them registered and insured in florida
@@BayCityRestorations Thanks! :)
What is a good price for one of these?
Clean, low mileage, with A/C you are probably going to have to spend around $7500. You can sometimes find them for less but might be a little rough.
There's one for sale in my area for 6 grand right now...with ac...50k miles....5 speed...

when driving 2wd, is it RWD or FWD?
RWD
you know if these are good trucks for day to day work?
In Japan it’s what they’re used for. It depends on what your commute is like

How tall would you have to be to make this uncomfortable to drive?
You would be surprised at the amount of room. But I think probably anything over 6’2” would be pushing it.
@@BayCityRestorationsdamn, I'm 6'3 and want one of these for whenever I buy a house
@@GoldenGod69 the subaru sambars have a bit more legroom, if you're more torso than leg like me you'll fit okay
Need an update brotha
Hope to dive in to body work and paint job next month!
I have a feeling that this will end in temporary trend.
For some yes, but for most of us the joy of driving these trucks and the community that surrounds them is far more than just a trend.
