  • ~~A bit of a different video this time, but this annoyed me so greatly I just had to fix it~~
Oh man how I HATE VOICE ASSISTANT on my JBL Live 660NC! There's a lot of complaints around of the voice assistant just popping up at random on JBL devices. I started having the same issue and had no idea what was going on. After TONS of searching and finding solutions that absolutely did not help mye, I finally figured out what was going on, so I will share it with you here. And even better: Three ways to fix it!
    1. around 1:30, through the Android app (does NOT work on iPhone), like here: • How to Change Voice As...
    2. around 1:40, can't touch this!
    3. around 4:30, a PERMANENT fix.
Warning: the final fix will void all of your warrenties. I cannot be held responsible for any damage to any of your devices. Try at your own risk!

Super helpful I fixed it in about 5 min. The hardest part was getting that first ring off. Thank you for the vid.

Hi, hope you’re well. I have the exact headphones. Please what knife did you use for the first part. I can’t find anything thin enough to get under it

I used a small scalpel from the local hobby shop, but you can buy those phone repair kits at the phone shops too, they come with the plastic spudgers that should be thin enough. And as they're plastic they're less likely to scratch the headphones too!

I think that the app for The live 660nc is different then the one for the live 650nc (i have an android and can also only switch and not deactivate) so maybe its the app in general and not the kind of phone

Ah, that's good to know! I looked up some videos and all the Android tutorials I found (including the one I linked to) showed that they could disable both assistant. But maybe that was an older version then? And is the touch sensor in the same place on the 650NC? Or does it have a different button to activate the assistant?

@@dehoofdwerker I think there's nearly no difference between 650 and 660,I have the 660 like you do but I can imagine them being at the same place

I just took my 650 apart....it's slightly different in the fact that the wires are soldered to the board and not clip connected....but on the plus side for me I think cause mine was activating by movement not just touch. There is 2 bare wires and a white. I believe that the sensor connects the 2 bare wires via touch but mine were close together causing them to touch internally

@@JamesSchulkowsky-ps9ni Ah, so that's also something that can go wrong apparently. What did you do, cut the wires? Or separate them?

@@dehoofdwerker I separated the wires on mine for now and that seems to have fixed it. After first and second use now the popup to setup Google assistant on my tablet (Android app is turned to native setting, so no voice or tone sounds but instead stops everything to on the tablet to "setup assistant") has not come up. Fingers crossed I don't have to cut the wires as I would rather not cut wires
