  • An overnight backpacking trip to Bear Canyon Trail Camp with quick stops at Switzer Falls. This area is located in the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest, California. The hike totaled about 7 miles round trip. This hike was done after recent rain when the water was unusually high.

The recent rain storms made the hike more interesting and scenic with actual waterfalls, but also resulted in some sketchy parts. Thanks for sharing.

How fun to get to hike inJanuary. Thanks for taking us along. 👍. Here in Colorado, we are having quite the cold snap with nighttime temps near 0 every night. So I love to see your adventure , especially with the gorgeous waterfall! 👍

Crazy! I was there in late January this year. We actually got a fire going and the campground was packed by Saturday

Whoa…those water crossings you showed the next morning did look ‘adventurous’ to say the least! I might classify them as ‘scary’! 😳. Thanks again for taking us along. Nice campsite by the water. 🏕️👍

The funny thing is that "adventurous" is relative. For that area it was a ton of water and a bit more adventurous than I was expecting. For something like the Sierra Nevada, those would be the "easy" crossings. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

Thanks for sharing the trip. So much water! This is so rare for southern California. I did this hike when I was about 13 in Boy Scouts which was a LONG time ago.

Love the details in teh video. I was planning to take my 10 yr old but the amount of slick rocks and crossings conccerns me.

Conditions definitely change. After the snow melts and the storms subside, there will be much less water.

I have a wish list for this year. We will see how many I can get done now that my schedule seems to be settling down a bit.
