      Thanks for the props Alex! I'm editing ep.2 as we speak. There's a lot in it--especially tons of manga! :) Should be up in a couple days.

    11:37 Can't have a used manga shop without some copies of Real somewhere on the shelf haha

      @japanbookhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's everywhere. I just can't buy manga that is everywhere like Real bc it just takes up space. I can read the whole series at ramen shops. haha

    Good idea to put all these contents in one video. Love to see your diggings and through your videos I'm knowing a lot of new mangakas. If you permit me, i would like to recommend some insane mangas too like Wild 7, Doberman Keiji, Homunculus, The Fable (I'am reading and its amazing!), Jigoku no Senki, Keiji Ankou and the last one Sahara from Koike sensei.

    • @japanbookhunter
      @japanbookhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! These are all great recommendations. I'm interested in The Fable, Wild 7, and Sahara for sure! Koike is just the best. I'll look into the others as well though!

    Always feels good on the extremely rare occasion I see that I've got something before you do (considering I live in Ireland). That Hideshi Hino art book is great. Wonderful video as always, I'll miss the longer ones but hopefully this will be a bit more reasonable time wise for you.

      Thanks! I love the Hino art book. I'm planning on doing a flip-through in my next vid bc the quality is sooo great. Hino forever FTW!

    Thanks for these awesome videos. I'm really into surreal american comics and was hoping to find some japamese equivalent original art or signed prints in Tokyo. I'll be there last half of December- happen to know of any events where some might be available? Was already going to try Taco Che based on some other sites

    • @japanbookhunter
      @japanbookhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Taco che is great. I buy from them fairly often for my personal collection. Of course Mandarake as well. Everywhere I go are mostly very small, local used bookstores though.

    While technically you're right in saying that Lady Snowblood is available in English, it's OOP and as such is going for ridiculous prices online so I've been looking for the Japanese set online. I see that the conbini editions are available from Mandarake for 2400 yen but with international shipping it's sort of a big commitment. Oh well, maybe one day they'll start doing SAL mail again.
    One day...

    • @japanbookhunter
      @japanbookhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can I ask how much the shipping was estimated to be? I actually have a Bamboo Comics 5 tankobon set that I might sell, but I'm still reading it. It would be def more than the konbini-ban though unfortunately. I struggled to put the set together.

      @@japanbookhunter2900 yen for DHL. Which could be worse certainl, I guess I’m just spoiled by pre-pandemic shipping rates with SAL sand such

      @japanbookhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlippytheMasterofPie Yeah, I'm gonna have to get a DHL account to ship stuff here soon. Japan Post is getting too expensive. But I heard DHL is going up too!

    As a Puerto Rican, I hope Bourbon Keisatsu gets licensed in English. It sounds interesting.

      I love the original manga, but I also get a warm feeling when I see the panels from the anime. It was a huge part of me getting into Japanese art and culture. And you're right--the color is just awesome!

    Have you read Bonten Taro's manga yet? What do you think?

    • @japanbookhunter
      @japanbookhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a few Bonten releases. The Blackhook press in English and the recent crowdfunded one here in JP. I also have some vintage mags with Bonten. He's great, but kinda the same story in all his stuff. It's more like a glimpse into the gekiga of that era. Really new stuff at the time. Like his tattooing. He finds a way of innovating everything he touches. Well, did.
