this song SLAPS. IT'S SO GOOD. we are singing it in the tour choir I am a part of. i am living for the percussion element along with somewhat medieval/gaelic harmonies. it's really a stunning piece.
My choir did this 2019, I sang low alto but got the soprano solo, still my biggest flex making the jumps between parts (for anyone singing this now or soon, i hope you all enjoy it as much as I did)
I did this song in high school choir. I absolutely loved it and got chills everytime especially on stage. We even had the band join us for the music instead of just a cd. What i didn't like was doing it for our winter, spring, competitions, and final show of the year. But damn if we didn't have it NAILED by the end of the year 😂
The soprano solo is stunning. God bless these women and their beautiful voices. This is a beautiful piece that glorifies Jesus Christ. God bless you and continue to open your heart as well as everyone involved.
Incredible. I just heard our local high school choir perform this and had to look it up. I'm so glad it's here, and it's an extra treat to be able to follow the score!
My choir sang this last year for one of our concerts(I was in my junior year of high shool) and my teacher had me placed on alto 1, I nornally sing alto 2, so I was glad I could hit the higher notes. On the pkus side, my choir teacher is starting a women's choir(her words) and shes giving me the tennor alto!! ^^ I get to singblow notes and its giving me gender >:3
Magnificent! I'll send our recording your way in early December :) Dr. Timothy M. Black, Conductor of Allegra Women's Choir - Bellingham, WA Bravo and Brava!
It says "Freely, like a gaelic chant". This whole song is not supposed to sound "proper" in the choral sense. I think this performance captured what was wanted perfectly, tbh

My choir's doing this for our holiday concert. This is SO fucking awesome.
This is by far my favorite piece of my choir's summer repertoire. Congrats on making a rad arrangement, dude!

no matter how many times i hear this damn song I always am like "FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA TURN IT UP" xD
I was lucky enough to sing that solo when my choir did this. It's a tough piece but definitely a lot of fun.
AND I soloed the high soprano part at the end but breathed in the middle of it which was incredibly embarrassing.
I did solo me and one girl I had stage freight and my breathing I kind of gassed it was so embarrassing
so excited for my treble choir to sing this in concert but i’m so nervous for the soprano solo that my teacher gave me!! gorgeous arrangement!!

Very nice!
THIS IS MY JAM 😅💜
LOVE IT!! ❤
Video is very quiet
What percussion instruments do play?
0:31 altos
Sweet.
Only advice is not to swoop from note to note at the beginning
It's well within the style of the piece to "swoop" from note to note. It's being done on purpose.
It says "Freely, like a gaelic chant". This whole song is not supposed to sound "proper" in the choral sense. I think this performance captured what was wanted perfectly, tbh
Does this please god?
Who knows but he?
Yes
I mean the song literally says to praise and rejoice Him. So I would say it does exactly that 🤷🏻♀
The old 15th Century Version is much better than this; they didn't need to modernize it/jazz it up. It just ruins it.
No it doesn't, that's just your opinion. If you don't like this version, go listen to the old one.
