      Eagle Aquatics we’re considering the Fluval 13.5 to start out. Would you recommend as a good starter aquarium for these lower light quality needing corals? In your opinion is there a better tank kit to start in a similar price range? Thank you so much

    • @EagleAquatics
      @EagleAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That fluval is pretty good, a lot of people go with that one. My personal preference would be for the biocube 16 or 32, those have better lights and filtration but again are a little more expensive. Up to you, they are both good.

    Great video and information. I’ve watched a lot of coral videos as I’ve recently gotten into the hobby & spent crazy. The only thing I’m lacking now is a quality light. I have an Aquavision c25 gallon bubble tank. It’s amazing….
    I’ve tried the Amazon lights and currently have a Finnex Marine 2 along with another light. My major problem is the tank is so deep, not long so I’m thinking of trying the Kessil a80 light.
    I’ve bought over 20 corals since starting this hobby. It’s got to be the lighting🥴

    • @EagleAquatics
      @EagleAquatics  ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be tough with those lights over a reef tank, you wont have much success thats the thing. I would suggest either going with a compact reef flourecent or T5 fixture or step up to LED lights for best results.

    Hey eagle aquatics, looking at getting some torch coral for my first reef tank. do i need to dose and if so what?

    • @EagleAquatics
      @EagleAquatics  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Torch corals are great beginner corals, depending on your size tank, how many water changes and corals you have depends on if you need to dose. Usually if you keep up with water changes often you wont need to dose much. If you have a bigger tank and more corals I would consider dosing. I like using BRS bulk supplement (calcium, alk, and mag) They are very cheap and very good quality and a last long time.

    With the exception of richordia and Yuma types do NOT put mushrooms in your tank unless you want a tank full of stupid mushrooms. They are very invasive and are one of the only toxin free coral types that will kill anything they touch. They are also extremely hard to get rid of, you can literally put them in a blender and every piece will grow a new mushroom. The easiest way I have found to destroy them is to sit a hammer type (wall/branch) right on top of them, there is a bit of sacrifice involved but the hammer always wins eventually! Happy reefing!
