When you knead by hand you cancel out all calories for that day, I've heard... From myself.. But still :) This looks so incredible, the dough is soft any pliable. the Chocolate is my favorite part, as I'm a chocoholic from way back. Yummy!

Hi Tootsie Peter! I prefer using softened butter. With softned butter cookie dough is thicker so you can easily shape into balls and they won't spread too much in the oven. If you use melted butter, you absolutely have to refrigerate cookie dough at least 2 hours before shape it. When you melt better you have to pay attention to not overheat or the flavor will change a bit and cookies will have a slithly greasy touch.

Hello Janita and welcome here! You have to reduce the sugar amount and increase the salt amount in the dough if you want to make savoury babka. Try to use 1 tsp salt and 2 tsp of sugar. Let me know how it turns out! Much love
I think it's a good idea to keep the log in the fridge for half hour before cutting and braiding because the dough is too soft and difficult to cut through. I'd difficulty cutting it

I baked this other day. My only issue with it was it didnt bake fully on the inside. Especially where the braids interloped, it was not cooked through. Should i have lowered the temperature?
Hi Pooja and welcome here! You have to bake it for more minutes (upper and lower heat). If the top is going to burn, low the temperature and cover the top with aluminium foil. I suggest you to check with a skewer to know if it's done, the skewer will come out dry. Let me know if you try it again! Much love
Hi Bhumi and welcome here! I've used no fan electric oven, upper and lower heat. If you half the recipe, the temperature is the same, but the baking time will be shorter...a smaller bread bake in less minutes than a large one. Let me know when you try it! Much love
Hi Afrina and welcome here! Yes, you can use it, but maybe you have to use more water since bread flour absorbs more liquid than all purpose flour...so add water until you get the dough concistency that you can see in the video ;) let me know! Much love

What if i bake the babka on convection or fan mode?? And what should be the temperature if i half the recipe?
