  • Save $$$! This video shows you how to take off your FRONT and REAR wheels on a DUCATI 899 PANIGALE. It also shows the axle assembly. I do not show reinstallation. There are other videos that show you how to do this on a sport bike. The purpose of this video is to show you how to remove the front, rear wheels on an 899/959 and so you can see the specific spacers and order of assembly.
    Great TH-cam Video for removing and installing wheels!!

    Thanks for the vid, will be doing this soon for my bike. One tip though, when loosening the rear axle, it's probably safer to go ahead and crack it open slightly while not on a stand yet. -cheers

    Hello! Do you mind sharing the torque specs for the pinch bolts and brake caliper bolts? As well as the axle nuts for the front and back?

    Can you do a video on the removal of the clutch cover please

    • @shooktube.
      @shooktube.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ashby, sorry I don't have a video on that and no longer have the bike :( . I did install the Ducati Performance magnesium cover with the Ducabike clear clutch cover, but didn't get any footage. If you have an 899, you do have to remove the fairing, tank (I think- can't remember for sure), electrical box/ harness, rear sets, lower or remove the exhaust just to get to the bottom screw. There is a step-by-step guide on panigale899.org on how to do it. I used that. Make sure you have the correct ThreeBond gasket maker, 1207B (black) to seal the case. Do not use 1215 (gray). That one comes up in a simple Google search for Ducati Three Bond. I used that first and it started weeping oil after a day or two. Had to redo the whole thing with 1207B. Worked like a charm.

    Great video, thanks, sad to see that tire go so new. Have you ever taken a corner on that bike?

    • @shooktube.
      @shooktube.  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It lasted over 4,000 miles. Pretty good for this type of tire. Corners- rarely. Mostly highway and city riding.

      @JT-ze2fp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dana Hawthorne depends on the tire and what/how you're riding. I'm on a 959 with the original tire and it's getting a pretty good flat spot at 3600 probably needing a new one at 4000.

    what kind of grease are you using for the rear wheel pin? manual says "Grease B" and lists Shell Retinax but I can't find it near me, what do you use?

    • @shooktube.
      @shooktube.  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use anti-seize.

      Glad it helped! I've definitely benefited greatly from other people's TH-cam videos. I mentioned it in the video, but make sure you watch and follow Dave Moss Tuning's direction on reinstalling the front wheel (link in description). There's a part where he aligns the front wheel by spinning it and using the hand brake that works really well.

  • @JT-ze2fp
    @JT-ze2fp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What stands are you using?

    • @shooktube.
      @shooktube.  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Links added to the description. Reviews aren't very good, but they work fine for me. The overall review rating of the rear stand is low, but those who reviewed it poorly had poor reasons to rate it low IMO (i.e. I wanted red. No leverage- I couldn't lift the bike. The instructions were bad.) All of these reasons are non valid issues. Black is fine. Tons of leverage- easy up, easy down. Assembly is simple. The front stand issues people have had are a different story I suppose, but I haven't had any buckling issues at all. They are sturdy and have kept my bike up countless times. The only thing with the front stand is that I have to pull the mounted brackets in a bit with my hands (spring loaded) as I'm putting the rubber cushioned part of the brackets firmly against the bottom of the front forks because they are held in place by a small pin that allows them to move slightly inward. Doing it this ways ensures that I don't scrape the bottom of my forks with the brackets when I lift the bike up. The stands do give you the option to use spools, but I haven't used them that way. I know, it's pretty ridiculous I haven't invested in spools- lol.

    cheers, probably the same instructions for the 959. I had my front tyre replaced by a ducati dealer with a supercorsa sp ( another place for the rear sc sp) but noticed in your video, the notches in the front axel you said inline with the forks, i looked at mine and they are perpendicular to the forks. weird.

    • @shooktube.
      @shooktube.  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is weird. I read that the notches should be in line with the fork and that is the way it was set from Ducati.

    21:03 "Align the hole so that compression adjustment for your fork is accessable." Dude the compression adjustment is located at the top of the fork, slot screw driver slot marked Com. Its located right next to the rebound slot adjuster marked Ten. Please don't offer anyone susspenion set up advice. Thankyou for the rest how ever .
