  • The throttle position sensor of Royal Enfield EFI motorcycle G5 runs at an operating voltage of 5 volts and its sensor output is between 0 to 5 volts.
The service manual of RE specifies idle engine to run between 850 - 1250 RPM. The idle fluctuates due to constant input from ECU - it goes up and then down by about 100 rpm if left to idle for sometime.

The fuel injected bikes in US have ECU which controls the ignitions timing based on the locked-in map installed at the factory. Your bike has carburetor and an electronic ignition unit that controls timing.
Throttle position sensor in my G5 monitors position of throttle butterfly valve and that information is 'read' by ECU to control ignition timing, fuel-air ratio etc.
I am sending you a pm.

Regarding TPS. If I pull the cable manually with my fingers during idle, shouldn't the idle RPM increase? How do I verify that the TPS is actually controlling the ignition? I have a carbed RE - TBTS. I have set the TPS so that the yellow line is just visible at WOT. Thanks! all your videos are very informative.

I think you mean "it goes up and then down by about _100_ rpm".
