Flappy McFur is a Homebrew game released in 2016. Pretty sure flappy bird came around in 2013.

Awesome video man, the capability was impressive especially the sound effects of Alien vs predator. I wish it had more support for it.
can you tell me what was the main demise of Atari Jaguar? thanks man

      Thank you!
I'm not really a Jaguar expert but from what i understand its hardware was not very developer friendly so a lot of game creators avoided the system. Lack of titles meant the Jaguar failed to attain a significant market share and when Sega Saturn and Playstation got out, it was the end of it.

In the manual they are so very proud that they can have many parallax layers, and did extra smart things and used up a lot of silicon. But then in the appendix the first bug says, that it did only work 50%. All the premature optimization . And for super burn out where a lot of sprites may happen to live on one scan line, their speed up circuit does nothing. All R/D down the drain. They are proud that you can store all objects in a list and the Jaguar finds out on what scanline to display what object (like on PCengine), but then they trash some important values in the entries of the list because they thought that his would speed up vertical scaling. In reality the write back costs more time than an add or even 8 of it.
The manual is proud how the PCM sound is read out of RAM via DMA. They waste a whole second Jerry chip ( expensive as Tom ) basically to achieve what the cheapest PC sound card could do. They integrated the DAC, but quality was so low, that an external DAC was used anyway.
They are proud that they generate a very high horizontal picture resolution .. which may be beneficial for vector graphics on RGB SCART .. but otherwise??
They are proud that they can fill areas of memory at full speed, but made the blitter so hard to use that it has to wait most of the time that GPU and CPU had constructed the new command.
In the manual they are very proud of their FMV capabilities. I think that this is even true and the implementation is elegant. Only problem is that nobody cared for FMV after 1993.
They spend extra time to allow 1bit, 2bit, 4 bit, 8bit, 16bit and 32bit pixel formats and you can convert between these, but are not allowed to use the palette. Okay I like that. But they also allow texture widths (heights ) which are not a power of two. And then they cannot wrap around correctly if you need a repeating pattern.
JRISC only has 64 instructions. Atari decided to waste those with saturation instructions. Like there are two samples per scanline (times two for stereo). Jerry has super fast branch. And really the IO port to Audio should do the saturation. But then on a lot of instructions a logical second input register is ignored. Yeah probably because the felt clever and only allowed one register load per cycle.
They tried to stay at clean 64 bit insides the blitter while again saturation is only needed when stuff is written out ( to the frame buffer in this case ). The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Video catalogs of every game released for various systems? Seriously!? That's freakin' *AWESOME*!! You've earned a new subscriber.
I've been looking for a full list of all jaguar games including the many aftermarket ones, but this is far better then any list because I get to see footage of the games. I only have one minor little nitpick. I kind of wish you would have separated the CD games from the cartridge games.

Thank you! About 3 uploads planned for the near future.
About the Jaguar, I thought about doing doing the video in 2 separate parts but some people want them together, some want them separated... and given the relative small library of the platform i ended up having a single video.

From what i've heard the game was never officially launched due to quality concerns, but people managed to get their hands on a pre-release build anyway.

Yeah, Atari Jaguar's library is small and quite bad; Even those games worth playing you can probably find on other platforms and with better quality.
If you're not a collector is hard to find a good reason to get a Jaguar.

Sad that Tiny Toon Adventures & White Men Can't Jump were the only games based on a series/movie/Disney etc.....I guess they didn't want to invest in the Jaguar (smart!)

do every violent game ever made

    • @bframe
      @bframe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

That would be a pretty hard thing to do given that you''re not likely to find a given list for that, plus violence is a relative thing. Some would only consider games like DooM, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat to be "violent" while others would go as far considering simple stuff like bumping into someone to be a display of violence.

I would just mean if they had blood or killing in it. I would start off with death race from 1976 because the whole goal of the game is to mow down as many people with your car as possible or gunfight (1975) which takes place in a cowboy...well gunfight.
