- How and Why to Properly Charge your Lithium Battery Bank for Car Audio! Very Important! Got a Eventek Ac to DC charger. So I could charge my 144 ah of C-Max to 15.5 volts! Most other lithium banks only require 14.8. So be mindful of that! Don't over charge your lithium! Can lead to catastrophic damage!💥🔥😮

Yes sir , always fully slow charge the lithium bank before installing the bank Into car always make sure your alternator is keeping up and charging to desired voltage setpoint the battery will be charged to 👍 👍
Ya I just got a xs power 1208 charger for my xs yinlongs. I also got my 15.5 voltage booster from mechman. Waiting for funds for dual alternator bracket for my s10 as well as a tonneau cover for a blow through. Anyway great job love the updates. Keep up the great work 😁 👍🏼

I don't know if anyone has told you yet, but the charging voltage needs to be higher than the battery voltage in order to push the power into the battery. A 10 amp charger will charge a 100 ah battery in about 1 hour. I hope this helps you bro. Keep the bass pumping

@@joetrevino4425 at what battery voltage? If it's a 12 volt battery then about 14.4 volts, but for a 16 volt battery then about 18 volts should do it

I usually charge it to 16. My car will keep it at 15.2. But I do charge higher before Demo's

i just did mine like 3 weeks ago , voltage controller, dc power supply, 80 ah yinlong, i charge mine to 15.5 -16.0, made my own upgraded leads, 8 guage ofc , banana plugs,, your limitless might be headway cells

I probably would have to. If Isaac Daugherty hadn't offered the one's he makes. But I'm not totally sure what kind of cells are in that limitless lithium bank. That case hides everything. I know it's a 14 volt battery bank. I usually charge it to 14.8. So yinlong can be charged at 15.5 to 16? Im still learning about different types of lithium 👊😎💯
Also with pre-charging your lithium banks, I have heard that you actually want to charge each cell individually when 1st building a battery bank, and then the balancer/equalizer will keep them all the same when they are all connected together as a bank. Then you can charge as a bank. But I hear it's very important when building the bank to pre-charge each cell individually to the same voltage before you go connecting the bank together. Also with buying a used bank, it's probaly a good idea to just dissconect all the cells from each other & charge each one individually so you can make sure every cell is good, becuse it is a used bank, & you never know if a cell or a couple - few cells coule be going bad, & the only way to know is to charge each cell individually, that's what I would have done. And you still can do this, you can deplete the battery bank by putting a load on it to get voltage down to maybe like 14v then disconnect them all from each other and charge individually to see if all cells are good.
Yeah that would be a good idea. But I had a Bms monitor on it before I switched it to Cmax balancer. And all the cells were reading same. But if you didn't have that maybe do that. Also you can test them with multimeter. I'd definitely do what your saying if your 1st building a bank👍😎💯

Glad you made this video, gives alot of insight on what it takes to properly charge your lithium bank. Is that charger only meant for charging cmax or is it compatible with any other lithium? I just bought an xs power 14 v lithium charger and it had 3 options as far as voltage cutoff which was 14.4, 15.8 and 16. 2 . Can you explain to me why they give that option on the same 14 v charger?
Thanks . And far as your charger. The 14.4 volts is for like headway cells or lithium that requires 14 volts changing. The 15.8 is for ppl that have lithium that needs 15.5 volts like my C-Max . And some ppl have lithium bank's that need 16 or higher. But lets say you need 14.8 volts. You would have to set it on the 15.6 volts. Hook a multimeter up to the battery bank and monitor the charge. That way you don't go over 14.8👍😎💯
And the charger I got works for any battery. It is a power supply. And can run anything that requires DC Power. I could hook a amp to it
@@bassjunkie2020 Yep you can run literally anything that takes DC voltage, you can charge your laptop, cellphone, nintendo switch, as long as you have the volts, & amps set correctly, you can charge anything! Thats actually a pretty awesome tool to have!

Hey Bassjunkie what voltage do you think is best to charge a 96ah Headway bank with one of these DC power supply devices? I see some say 14.6 or 14.8 max v..Also is it best to charge at 10 amps or at 5 amps?
I charge mine at 10 amps and I think 14.8 would be ideal. Because that's usually what H. O. ALTS put out. I charge my C-Max to 16 before Demo's. I changed the 14.8 regulator out of my alt and added a 15.5 But like you said headway is different. But I think you'll be good at 14.8 Just don't leave your lithium charging unattended for long periods. I'm not saying you have to sit and watch it. But I wouldn't goto work and leave it charging. Lithium can be very dangerous. So safety first. Reminds me I need to get a chemical Is Fire extinguisher for my car!👍😎💯
@@bassjunkie2020 Thanks I have charged it up to 14.6 then I noticed the voltage dropped to 14.2 after sitting for a day so I charged it up to 14.8 the 2nd time and after a day it dropped back down to 14.2 then after 2 days now its at 13.9 volts.. Is that normal? Or should it hold the higher charge longer?? Or is it the active balancer draining it? Hopefully it's not bad cells😕
Check each cell. Make sure voltage is even. You could charge higher but shouldn't have to. Could be your system is pulling more power than you think to. So I'd get it metered that way you know how much power its put out! Might end up needing a bigger bank
@@bassjunkie2020 ok but the bank has not been installed yet, I got it last week from Battery Hookup and converted it to 12v and now that's what's happening while it's sitting on its own..But guess ill just have to to pull it all apart to check the cells

No that would be perfect. Just make sure you have 2nd battery or lithium.
