This is absolutely amazing! It warms my heart to see a group of people working towards making this life-saving drug available to everyone.
I have an artificial pancreas built through an open source community (OpenAPS). I have been thinking more and more.... if only we could open source insulin, we could change the life of millions in less developed countries or people who can't afford it. This is a truly amazing effort!
I'd love to make a video about global licensing. One of the more subtle but best parts about Loop/OpenAPS is that it is available everywhere - instantly.

Sometimes when I'm doing a set change I think "wow I'm lucky" Some people around the world will never have a chance to get the insulin they need, let alone a pump. This video has me believing, we are going to see the world be changed.
It’s been incredible to be introduced to these smaller groups who have set out to tackle a large issue. I also find out inspiration to meet people who are not diabetic themselves and still get involved.
I am type 2 diabetic and probably will become type 1 before too long. I have been type2 for 30 years but seeing my surgar levels increasing. How can I help? I am a truck driver and I know friends having trouble affording insulin. The medical industry is only concerned with profit. They are not about patient care. Thank you to all volunteers working on this project. What can I do to help.
Do you know where to find more details on the process to the completion of using E. coli 12 to produce insulin? Where can I learn of the ideal Fermentation Media, Temperatures and so on? Thanks for a great intro video. Cheers

i also encourage Open Insulin to help out with hypothyroid patients in need of thyroxine, or Pernicious Anemic Patients in need of B12 injections, or Addisons disease patiants in need of Steroids.....
Why ? Because their immune system for no reason attacked their own bodies...
not just that, but also Pace Maker dependant patients to make their own pace maker batteries?
Is DIY Thyroid hormone still being researched?

I'm a types because my pancreas was removed to avoid cancer. What pisses me off is that we have to kiss somebody's butt to get enough cheap insulin even if you have insurance. What if we had an national emergency? The supply could dry up overnight and I'm dead. Because of this, we should have an injectable that terminates our life rather than be tortured to death.
Have you tried the cheaper insulin at Walmart? It's like 25 USD for a month or two supply?
I really want to learn how to do this for when the apocalypse happens so I can live longer than one month. Gotta prep.

Jordan Laiche omg I think the same thing lol. If the apocalypse happens I'm so toast, I'm going to die slowly if I don't fall into DKA or a coma first. I try an stockpile insulin for a rainy day. I had 10 vlies saved up but its starting to not work as well as it did before I sure hope these guys can make all of our insulin dreams come true
