Reading & Northern Iron Horse Ramble May 25, 2024

Reading & Northern ran their first Iron Horse Ramble of 2024 on May 25, 2024 from North Reading’s Outer Station to Jim Thorpe. Former Reading T-1 #2102 led 15 cars on a beautiful spring day in northeastern Pennsylvania. Video done by Jillian Rule. Enjoy!!!

32:20, I went to that spot because I thought they were gonna turn the train the other way, but got lucky because I still needed a shot of it crossing over the Lehigh Line, good job!

Yes they went back to the original way they did it two years ago but with no diesels

Excellent video Jillian and equally excellent chasing Dad. You both did an awesome job. I know the next two are starting in the Scranton area. Do you know if they’ll leave Port Clinton early in the morning the same day, or go up the night before?

Haven’t heard but my guess is they’ll take the engine to Jim Thorpe the day before and service it there before going to Nesquehoning for departure. But again, just a guess

why do they use the switcher to get it out of the roundhouse if its already under its own power

From what the crew said it’s to key the engine clean until it arrives at Reading.
