The new translucent, almost fluid-like appearance of 3DS Rainbow Road really reminds me of the textures seen in the Super Mario 3D World post-game world maps - looks stunning!

Mario Kart 7's rainbow road is still the best version of the track, but 8's aesthetically looks beautiful. weird they moved the sun though as the final section feels VERY anti-climatic now

Peach's Garden has flowers from the base game. But they can't put this flowers in Paris Promenade or Toad circuit...

I was surprised so positive because those new roads was awesome, my favourite roads was Maple Treeway, Peach's Garden and Mario kart 7 roads, i like Berlin road too because it have great music. This wave is so nostalgic to me because i was playing Mario Kart ds, wii and 7 when I was a kid. 🙂
Berlin Tour was controversial, sorry
The concept was the reason for this tour, with Berlin Byways 2 being given first instead of Berlin Byways 1, as well as Bavarian Lederhosen Luigi's instead of Prussia, and that tour lacked content around Germany, like Cuckoo clocks, Accordions, and German wagons
@@piercemat331 That's only one part of Germany and Berlin isn't in that part. Lederhosen and Cuckoo clocks are only in Bavaria.
Just rock rock mountain is a bit eh and looks almost identical to the tour version. graphics wise, however the rest of the tracks look like base game and I hope nitendo keeps up the good work

They absolutely do not look like base game, and honestly it would be silly to expect them to at this point. It's a quantity over quality type of deal, the price is cheap! Rock Rock Mountain unfortunately looks way worse than the 3ds original, that's a bummer.

I’m really loving the new update as well as wave 3 It really creative that they made the last lap in Peach’s Garden that totally caught me off guard when I raced on it and the other tracks are fun too but what i really love is the custom items setting I been playing Vs mode on 200cc with only blue shells since I found out about it and it’s so insanely chaotic and hilarious I even played with these settings with my best friend with no coms and we kept destroying each other with blue shells Lmfao 🤣
I wish they kept the suoer risky shortcuts in 3DS rainbow road but I understand why they wouldn't/can't because the track is a lot bigger

Look at Mushroom Gorge for example: the version in 8 Deluxe is clearly the course model from Tour, however 8 Deluxe’s version has the start cut with the two mushrooms before the wooden bridge, but those two mushrooms aren’t even present in Tour. They definitely are willing to make shortcuts like that possible if they so choose.
@@themightytammos yes but the whole track from mushroom george the stationary parts built into the stage that arent easy to recycle such as placeable mushrooms isnt that easy... tours mushroom assets are separate which is why they are used randomly in other tour maps vs the risky shortcuts on rainbow road actually being a part of the set stage in the original.

2:22 You know. For Rock Rock mountain on the big jump with the glider. As your about to hit the ramp, there’s one boost panel and I really don’t see why they couldn’t add 2. When you hit the one there’s just this lack of speed when the boost is finished, then you go on the glider ramp and fly threw the sky. It’s not that big of a deal, but when I notice small things like this, I just wanna know what they were doing and thinking

The Maple Treeway looks too clean, the Wii and 3DS versions felt much more like a forest than it does now, which seems to be all plastic.

Why do the Mario kart 8 deluxe dlc courses not have the same polish as the regular tracks? Is it made by the same team?
I presume they didn't want to invest too many resources and figured people would still buy a low quality DLC. The visuals and track polish are so much worse that it's almost certainly outsourced or made by a different in-house team.
@@creativebeetle True. It’s no where near the quality of the original game. A ton of the dlc tracks also just feel insanely short and I’ll go over a ramp and not have room to turn. The Ninja course is the best example of this bad quality

Because it’s easier and way less time consuming I suppose. If they built the BCP tracks from the ground up, we probably wouldn’t even have 3 waves in one year tbh.
Also they'd probably give us less tracks or raise the price

Maple Treeway looks beautiful, except that treetop area with the wigglers. Why did they use this ugly bright yellow-orange texture that doesn't fit the rest?
I feel like with Maple Treeway that the track (drive-able part) looks better on 8, but then outside the track, the Wii has far more detail where you see the forests in the distance.
Wait, what about Merry Mountain?

They change the proportions on Rainbow Road, now it easier.

There are 8 now, right? But yeah, there remain many changes which were specifically made for Tour, a more simplified Mario Kart experience. Missing flower beds, a flat Rainbow Road, straightened curves overall, the Wigglers don't really block your way etc. At least the widened the flower bed in the second curve compared to Tour.
Why did they make some of these tracks shorter than the originals?
Rock Rock sounds as awesome as ever, but yikes it looks a lot worse, sadly..
Uh why the music is merry mountain in London Loop?
I want to see DK Summit, Koopa Cape, Bowsers Castle 3, or Waluigi Stadium any of these would be cool to see in the next waves
Man, I never really noticed this, but it turns out the reason Rock Rock Mountain looks worse than the 3DS version is because they based it on the Tour version...they're not going to budge on this decision, are they?

Mario kart 7 RR isn't 3 laps it's 3 sections, the exact same as N64 RR
3DS rainbow was always a sectioned 1 lap track that just so happened to loop back in on itself. Even in the video they do the one singular lap
Also n64 rainbow road would be tiringly long if it was the whole 3 laps like the original
Really hope Mario Kart 9 has way more detail than the dlc courses for 8 have. Rainbow road looks way better on 7 than 8.
I am negatively impressed with how Rock Rock Mountain from 3DS manages to have more textures than the Switch ported version that was supposed to be better in several ways 🤡

I love the wooden texture of Maple Treeway but it honestly looked so much better on Wii. All the small leaves looked so amazing especially along the edge of the road.
Personally both are equally enjoyable. I don’t get the whole graphics debate since bcp is more in line with The Mario style.
@@mrconroy4672 no they're both nice I just prefer the Wii version as it was more detailed. I agree the Tour/8DLX Retro Versions are more in keeping with the Mario style so it gains that, and it does still look nice, but at the same it loses something imo

I like Wii's version of Maple treeway more than 8's overall, but most of the other remakes I like more. Minus Alpine Pass/Rock Rock Mountain.
i love the recurring theme that grass is almost never textured
As disappointing as a lot of these are visually, 3DS Rainbow Road almost makes up for it.
They are all very fun to race on though.
Three gripes I have would be the bushes don’t drop a random mushroom or banana, and peaches garden doesn’t have boxes chasing the chain chomps. I could even see only changing them to double boxes and the far edges having a few. But the risky faster path is forward and you might miss the box. Also I want more boos in boo lake cause it feels very empty at the moment. Other than those three I think this was by far the most solid. I think more half pipes are needed. I love how they feel. It feels like the base game was missing them and I love them so much.

why in gods name did they make all old tracks easier? no sharp turns, wider tracklayout, jesus, all uniqueness is killed off, after all theres no real track id left,....they feel all the same just with different turns and heights

Be grateful they’re adding dlc at all. The tracks were decent anyways before being in 8 deluxe. You do realize most retros in MKDS, MKWii, and MK7 hardly changed their originals right? Why’s it a problem now when the dlc hardly changed most tracks? Lmao
Its true that these courses look good. But they are still mostly ripped from tour with no to minor changes, and looking at the base roster of courses, the difference in quality is kinda depressing.
All of them are graphical downgrades imo.

i dont like the mk8 version of the song because it removes the entire spooky vibe. tour did the song better
rock rock mountain:
way too bland for the 8 version (because of course it is smh) and way too cramped
peach gardens:
my least favorite version of this track because of 3 reasons
mk8 removed the flower sections making them significantly easier
they enlarged the smaller version of the monty mole section which looks terrible
they removed the ability to go around the start

way too confusing to race on for people who dont play tour (why is it playing merry mountain)
3ds rainbow road:
i dont like the blue bits on the side of the road
the boosting section after saturn isnt as fun to drift on as the 7 version
and the small boosting things are way too small to hit all 3 of them at section 3
literally where is merry mountain
mk8 doesnt let you go any faster than your normal top speed while going down the mountain and it isnt fast enough to be realistic even on 150cc

You shouldn’t hate on Tour tracks coming to 8 deluxe because you haven’t played them, it’s blindly forming an opinion. You can’t honestly say the city tracks are basic, they’re anything but, look at all the alternating routes. They’ll only get better starting with wave 4.
If you can’t handle them then it must be a pain to know that you’ll never avoid them when you play online
@@WritingCountingOriginal Bruh I _have_ played the tracks online already, you're right about that lmao. Sure, alternating routes are neat. Playing tracks backwards should be kept for sure. But yeah, I don't really like the city tracks (or any of the Tour retros for that matter), sorry if that offends you. They don't feel as fun to play for me in comparison to the base MK8 tracks because they were clearly designed for simpler controls, and that's not even considering the jarring visual difference. They personally feel a bit watered down and that disappoints me, especially when there are good ideas there.
They're the ones charging a price for this dude. I'm just not impressed based off what I've already played and seen. That's all. Besides, I'm one guy and I'm sure them missing my 24.99 won't hurt them a single bit.
