My grandad Hokkien and father in law Cantonese and my Dad Hakka. Many Chinese Indonesian from this province. I do hope someday to visit their hometown and learn our root. I can see the food similar like we have in Indonesia. Thank for your sharing this video.
Watching your videos about Xihua Road and Liwan Lake brought back many memories for me. I’m so glad you visited Canton. Your videos are excellent, and the introductions are well done, especially your understanding of Cantonese cuisine. I hope you have the chance to try more of Canton’s delicacies, such as claypot rice (Chao Kee超記, Man Hing萬興), roast goose (Mannings Restaurant萬年酒樓,Chen Zai Kee陳仔記), dim sum (White Swan白天鵝, Nan Yuan南園), coconut steamed silkie chicken soup(Dayang 達揚)and more. Wishing you a wonderful journey!❤❤❤
one of my favourite cities in China, Guangzhou. people are enthusiastic and picky about food quality there. such a good life there. Being a northerner, i envy the people there :-) we all spend 24 hours in a day, but theirs comes in with more enjoyment for food. just returned from GZ earlier this week from a full week stay there, stayed in LiWan district, right in the old town part. your video brings back so much familiar and fond memories. Enjoy your stay, whenever and wherever you are.
@FloraandNote Yeeeesss, you both made me sooooo hungry especially those egg cakes 😁😀😂 l'm a Cantonese and Guangzhou is my late father's birth place. Too bad that l haven't been there yet....
Flora and Note I'm loving this China series part 2 that you have given us subscribers to see. I did not know that Guangzhou was only 1 hour by train ride from Hong Kong. I been to Hong Kong and I loved it. Flora and Note hope you both do a Hong Kong series part 2.
When I was in Hong Kong in 2019 I wanted to visit Guangzhou but did not have enough time so I stuck to HK which I did not know either. That hotel room looks great for the price! Love to see those old neighborhood's. 11:15 What a beautiful place to have a coffee! Food looks so tasty, thank you for sharing this.
We loved staying in Liwan District because of the retro vibe. But definitely add it to your list for next time. It's more relaxed, has amazing food, affordable and easy to get around by metro!
You’ve made such a great food tour and all the shots are just 👌😍 Oh, and we went to the same breakfast spot on our main Guangzhou video and then couple of times afterwards because it was so good!!! 🎉
20:58 totally agree that Cantonese cuisine definitely let the integrity of the ingredients speak for itself rather than 20 seasoning in a dish. I love GZ , can never get enough of it
Loved the dropped Mung Bean cake fiasco..Your expression was priceless.. Note offering the smaller piece without Flora complaining is also testament to your great relationship. Every place you have gone to in China I always think it can't get better than this but it always does...Love this series... Aloha.
I'm glad the Michelin rated restaurant is reasonably priced. When the restaurants here in Vancouver received their stars or acknowledgement in the Michelin guide, the prices tripled.
That’s the way they talked in Cantonese. People thinks yelling. Just came back from my wife’s side Thanksgiving dinner. Over 50 people, my ear is still ringing. I have been to several places in China. Guangzhou has best place to eat. Cantonese knows how to eat. Also very affordable. You should go to Foshan with the metro train. That’s where martial art place. Next to that place has the old remodel buildings with several restaurants. I have hard time eating in Beijing there. Guangzhou food is the best. So many Dim Sum restaurants also. I got to the point, don’t even want to eat any more after staying there one week.
Once again amazing job! Never thought of going to China but this just looks so great! Without speaking the language though I imagine it would be much more difficult, like to order food for example? ❤
I rarely subscribe and comment on videos, but as another overseas Chinese and Cantonese who was originally from Guangzhou, I absolutely love your video of my hometown. All your observations are on point, and the cute vibe between you guys is infectious. Not to bore you with the history, but Guangzhou is the birthplace for Cantonese culture, as it was the first and only kingdom (Southern Yue/Nam Viet) in the Guangdong region of China!
Are we on the same route? 😂 I just got to Guangzhou. Not sure when you guys were here but it’s my first time back in 5 years. I missed it. Glad to see your experience and also get some ideas of some new places to visit. ❤
Have both of you been to ShunDe city (I think it is also in GuangZhou province)? I heard that's also food paradise there for naturally flavoured seafood and congee.
New to your channel and enjoyed watching your Central Asian videos but I wish you guys traveled to Afghanistan because out of all the Central Asian countries Afghanistan has the best food. As an Afghan American I should know:) My wife is Thai American and we both recommend that you guy's should try Afghani food and make a video of it to stand out from the rest of TH-camrs.
back in old days, most people couldn't read, these public theatre is always based on classics, promoting Confucian ideas, filial piety, loyalty, responsibility etc. These theatre serve as free education/indoctrination for the peasantry. same with story tellers in tea houses etc.
Btw, Hongkong food is pretty much from Guangzhou. The immigrants/chefs brought the food over to Hong Kong like egg tarts...etc. Also, Cantonese food inspired many places in the south east Asia too including Thailand and Vietnam and ….more.
I need to explore and try more different foods while I am in Guangzhou because when I was there my suppliers always took me to restaurants and eat weird stuff, I prefer street food like this.
So much to try! We loved the clay pot rice too, lots of famous ones to try in GZ. Unfortunately we went to eat it on another day so we didn’t include it in this video.
The location of the first shot of the video is taken so close to my home apartment building! I am currently working in Shenzhen but damn I miss the food back home.
Liwan is a nice area to walk around. Mix of old and new. When I was there a few years ago there was a little store that made down duvets by hand. Just stood there watching.
Flora and Note, If you love cantonese food visit Shunde Foshan not far from Guangzhou and the food there are on another level in my opinion. Anyway thanks for sharing your GZ adventure. Cheers from Macau 🇲🇴 China 🇨🇳
@@FloraandNote Going to China next May, trying to see if we can schedule a visit to Liwan District and test out the delicious food your introduced in the neighbourhood. After China, we're heading to Penang to catch the durian season there to have a tree ripen durian feast!!! 😋😋
I have been there. Didnt find any vegan food so i ate at a Thai restaurant 3 times a day, just next to our hotel. Easy to say no meat, fish and so on. They spoke Thai :)
The more videos i see about China the more my longing to visit grows.... The pure joy on your faces eating the Egg cake was fantastic 😍

Hey - You're from Canada, you can do the 3-second rule if it falls on the floor! Just like camping...
广州西村我住了二十年有多!这间鱼弹店我以前基本晚上都出来吃个消夜的!

Is this the canal where they have dragon boat races?

Hello what is the best map app to navigate China since Google map is not allowed? Thanks
来到广东,up主有种回到家乡的感觉😊
香港人以前叫广州省城,去广州就上省城
系喔,广州话仲好标准添👍🏻
More determined to head to Guangzhou now, while I'm in Hong Kong next year.
It’s so close by train! Definitely do it 😊👍
Wow, my mouth is watery
为了吃好吃的,我们已经好几次在周末从上海去广州,在周日吃完晚饭然后再赶回上海……😂
The most southern province is Hainan, but Hainan also used to be part of GUangDong
i laughed out loud when you dropped the cake. twice.
Hi guys, possible to do a video for those are new to China, what apps to use to pay, take didi n maps to use etc.😊 Thank you.
我记得我刚吃完,怎么又饿了!😅😅😅
😂😂😂
Very nice place
Cantonese food is the best❤
Brilliant 😍😍
Guangzhou is an eater's paradise, roast goose/duck is probably the best here.
I love Chinese food
My favourite is Tim Sum at the Guangdong Tea House in UpDown9 area.
I’m completely seduced by the egg cake, it looks so moreish! The scene that Note dropped a piece of cake is so hilarious!😂
i always wanted to know how Guang ZHOU is... my ancestry place... Thx for this epic vid.. ❤❤❤
Please go to Shenzhen it is fun there.
Coconut mainly from hainan or thailand, not from taiwan!
Do you guys like the durians that ripe on the tree, or ones that're harvested from the tree?
Tree ripen ones are harder to find in Thailand but we did try it once before and it was AMAZING!

对不起绿豆饼跌个过一刻O晒嘴真是忍不住笑不停哈哈哈哈😂
16:41 -1 bean cake.
The price is so so affordable.
In Hong Kong, a bowl of congee will cost me HK45/bowl.😂😂
I feel like most of the Chinese restaurants in Australia are influenced by/from Guangzhou! 😋
Just like Canada 😊But nowadays the new Chinese restaurants are more Sichuan style with mala skewers and hotpot.
@FloraandNote yes I've seen more variety in Chinese cuisine in Melbourne now which is great!
I was from Li Wan district. ❤
会玩又会吃
