This for me is a completely new take on Dowland, pulsating with life and with pain transformed. Pretty breathtaking. Michael Slattery, a glorious, arresting tenor, beautifully accompanied by a continuo of flutes and strings, including lute and cithern. This could catapult Dowland into Top of the Pops.
