I never played these games but I definitely want to, plus it’s the prime source of sprites for SMBZ, super nostalgic
I don’t mind the lengthening of animations. It’s so cute watching Mario adjusting his hat after performing a perfect attack. It adds to the charm of the series. That’s why I don’t mind the tutorials in Dream Team. The charm of the game more than makes up for it.
You can’t tell me the train Toads from Color Splash aren’t comedy gold. “MY WIFE LEFT ME” and “LUIGI WOULDN’T DO THIS TO US” are hilarious.
Interesting fact, in the part where you play as scared luigi, You can softlock the game if you go the wrong way

35:00 The bros attack seems weaker but has a damage multiplier on spiked enemies. On bosses like Queen Bean you can hit her crown and do massive damage and easily beat the fight.

I remember playing a demo of the game back until I finally got it for Christmas back in 2003.

Brents ability to get so many 1s during the level up bonus is honestly impressive. Great playthrough man, cant wait for the next one!
The more you add points to the same stat after each level up decreases the potency of the boost. It encourages making balanced characters instead of one stat...which no one does because PWR is just that busted of a stat.
@@ogre589 I mean defense and HP are only really important if you're bad at dodging. BP is probably the second most useful stat since Bros. Attacks are broken.

@@AtJoee230 At least in my very limited experience with the game (started playing it after seeing the thumbnail and went wiki diving at points for info on specific mechanics) I would definitely agree, specifically it goes POW > STACHE/BP > SPD > HP/DEF in my mind. The only time I really took HP/DEF was from the coffees when I had to make them to unlock the broken items, but there's some HP regen builds that might also be good idk. I liked using some speed oriented effects like mario follow (got very lucky with item drops and found some gear early) so I could see a good use case for investing in it for Mario at least. Stache is very useful in the shop or for crit builds later on, and BP is obviously great for more bros. attacks which should be spammed to unlock advances. POW is just broken. I tended to split POW and BP for Mario and STACHE and BP for Luigi, but I was looking for more variety by doing that. Sorry for the paragraph lmao

Probably been said already, but Advance Splash Bros can be used on spiky enemies without taking damage, and deals double damage to them. It's still worse, but it does have some use!
35:00 is weaker because it is suppose that you use it to enemies that have spikes in their head. With that attack you will not recieve damage.
Watching this and Eevee's is like watching a let's player and a speed runner POV
Near the end the damage goes crazy.🎉🎉😂
By the by: Advanced Splash Bros pierces through spikes and does double damage to spiked enemies.

I remembered playing this game, i LOOOOOOVED it so much, sure the final boss was SUPER Hard, not Bowsetta, Cackletta's Soul was the part that gave me trouble but even to this day, its still one of my favorites in the past, those were the days huh? 😁
Hey brent, there is one other game, where the bro's from this game and you work with paper mario. We see wendy breath fire in that game while fighting BOTH wendy and roy at the same time. roy uses a magic wand and wendy breathes fire.
You attack 2nd if your speed is below 120. You were more than fast enough to outspeed her soul. Bowletta can't be outspeed as she automatically gets the first turn.
I fucking love this game and the series in general. Sucks that Alphadream went bankrupt. I'd say the top three of the series would be 1. Bowser's Inside Story 2. Dream Team and 3. Superstar Saga. Also I will say the 3DS remake for SS was very well done.
The exciting part about NSO is the archive aspect of it.
Games that go there are meant to be remembered.

Superstar saga is one of the best GBA Games in History and It will never be forgotten. And King Of Skill you should play Minish Cap also one of the best GBA Game.

Maybe I’m just underleveled(I am) but enemies felt like they took so much longer to defeat when I played this game even if I use my strongest attacks

I remember the sprites for the Koopalings being very different from their current designs. I guess they decided to update the sprite for the Virtual Console version of the game.
Edit: Now that I think about, either I have an older version of the game or I remember it differently.

Edit: Just finished my playthrough, got mario at lvl 42 and luigi at lvl 41. Took about 14 hours, amazing game.

This was such a wild experience, you were so skillful that Nintendo downright went out of their way to sabotage your playthrough.
But this was nevertheless a nice trip back to the past.
I'm so excited for MP3 to drop. Not only was it my favorite Mario party growing up so I'll play the hell out of it, but I'll also get videos from Brent as the cherry on top
Yeah, I'm looking forward to Brent, Nick, Vern and Sophist to play MP3 as well. Too bad Waluigi Island is an unlockable board you need to get by playing the story mode, I'd love to see how the other three would react to the zany stuff on that board.

Brent are you really questioning the "physics(?)" of a video game? You asked something similar of Eevee.
I can get why people love the original so much (let's assume "nostalgia" isn't a factor), but I'd argue the remake is way better, not just by how it looks but also how it fleshes out the relationship between Bowser and his Minions (I say as the one of a few enjoyers of the Minion Quest sidemodes) whilst showcasing a way better OST (Again, no "nostalgia" factor).
