Even though I’m a Texas Tech fan, I have to say that this was one of the greatest championship games in the past few years. What hurt Texas Tech in this game were two 3-pointers by Virginia at two specific points. The first one was at the end of the first half when the Cavaliers hit the 3-pointer to go up 32-29. The second one was towards the end of the game when Hunter hit the 3 to tie game and sent it to overtime.
The greatest thing about this game is that it kept the prestige that comes along with being the national champions otherwise had lubbock college won it would have taken the prestige away!
Just realized this is the first time I've ever watched the broadcast of this game because I was there in person. The energy inside US Bank Stadium was unreal. One of the hottest crowds I've ever been a part of. You could feel the electricity. Shoutout as well to both fanbases who were extremely respectful and positive throughout the night. I'm a native MN'er so wasn't a fan of either team but am a fan of this incredible game and championships like this are a reminder as to why. The UVA fans were very congratulatory of Texas Tech after the game and the TTU fans mostly stayed to give their team one last send off and congratulate Virginia. It's one of those moments I thought "this is what sports should be about". Two teams gave it their absolute all but there aren't ties so one had to lose and fans are appreciative for what they saw and the effort they gave. This game was approximately two months after my Mom had passed away as well and it was a great "forget about life for a few hours" moment watching it. Will forever remember this night.

People only remember missed controversial calls but forget how the team beat every key moment under pressure. They won it because they are Virginia, they have the power to master the game. For any other teams I doubt if they have the perseverance for 3 consecutive heartbreaking minute in 3 games.

In a series Texas tech would never see a game 7 against Virginia. They would be done by then. I heard it all on radio on a long drive.

100% The BEST Redemption Story. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to win it. If that isn’t how UVA does it, then there isn’t one. Absolutely amazing WAHOOWA
2018 - Virginia: the first #1 seed to lose to a #16 seed in March Madness 2019 - Virginia: National Champions 2019 - Tampa Bay Lightning: the first Presidents Trophy team to be swept in the first round 2020 - Tampa Bay Lightning: Stanley Cup Champions
Five years later, TH-cam displayed this video on the right, so I watched it. In my bracket, I picked Virginia to win in consecutive seasons. In 2018, they became the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 seed. In 2019, they redeemed themselves. My bracket was 96.5th percentile on ESPN. I knew that as long as Virginia was alive, I could have an extremely great bracket, and I did. The first week was great for me. I am a fan of another ACC team, Florida State, initially just for Football, but then for all sports. Living in New York, I did not get a chance to see them in person in any sport until they were sent to Hartford, Connecticut. In the First Round, they trailed Vermont early before winning, and my expensive Second Round tickets would have been worthless to me if Florida State lost in the First Round. On the first Saturday, I saw Florida State easily defeat Murray State in Ja Morant's last NCAA game. I also got a photo with Florida State's band. It was a great weekend because I got 15 of 16 Second Round games right, and normally there are enough upsets to make that extremely hard. I rarely pick worse seeds, and if you are competing on ESPN or any other way that does not reward picking worse seeds, do not pick upsets to stand out because you will probably do more harm than good. The worst games for a bracket are when that bracket is wrong while most brackets are right. I have my ESPN percentiles for the last eleven tournaments, and I was in the top half every time, with a worst percentile of 53.8, and an average of 74.6. I am not in the media, and I thinnk about if I should call myself an expert, but I am worried that if I call myself an expert right before a tournament, it will be the time I have a bad bracket.
So happy for the Bennett's. All those years here at uw Madison and so much great success but never won a title then his son wins it all. Finally the Bennett are champions! I'm so proud happy for them.
As a Texas tech student during this championship run. This one really hurt the most. But I’ve never been so proud of a team that really treated each other like a family. Seriously one of the best March madness runs by a team.
Did you see the foul they called on Moretti, Guy was tripped by his own teammate. It changed momentum since then, and by the way, Texas Tech shot 15 free throws vs 23 of VA. TTU could not buy a foul call in overtime.
So you're not gonna talk about the ball going off the back of Odiase's hand when he blocked that shot and Virginia was up one and would have retained possession, but instead the ball was given to Texas Tech, or the rebound Kyle Guy got that was ruled a jump ball, when the guy swiping at the ball from behind, hit Guy across the head, albeit a slight hit, but contact to the head non the less. Look at when Culver just ran over Clark, watch closely, he extended his arm for a push off, so if were gonna be technical, by rule that should have been ruled an offensive foul as well. What about when Mooney camped out in the lane for longer than 3 seconds on that basket he made. So a game can be looked at anyway you want, based on the side you're cheering for. Virginia was the better team the majority of the game, and deserved to win. By the way, i had a very sizable wager on them as well, laying the point and a half.
Shaking my head about the overturned call where the ball was knocked out the player's hand out of bounds. Not even gonna debate that one because Guy clearly fouled the player from behind right before it happened.
Agree, the game was in way "fixed"! I have lived in Texas my entire life and still have not gotten used to all the whining & crying that tech does non-stop! So thank you for winning and keeping the prestige of being named the national champions alive & well b/c with just 1 texas tech NATTY it would have forever ruined that prestige!
They almost lost to Purdue and should’ve lost to Auburn but that doesn’t make up for the heartbreak of losing to a 16 seed in the first round. A championship certainly does. I was rooting for Purdue in this tournament but congrats Virginia on your redemption.
Robert M. Johnson i mean if they call the double dribble they already beat them so it’s ok to say that because it literally would’ve happened anyways Culver played awful Tech wasn’t winning this

Even if you argued. Virginia won over 60 games the past 2 seasons. Kentucky didn't do it and that team has 5 star recruits
I didn't like the way the call was overturned, and I feel like super slow-mo replay often hurts games like this, and hurts when the fans become too knowledgeable for the officials' own good. But that being said, congrats to Virginia. This is going to be an incredible story forever, and the way they did it really does have some destiny feel to it.
@@bluesdirt Yeah I know. It's not even technically the wrong call, I just wish the reversal and really that whole situation hadn't occurred at such a big point to begin with

Brilliant coaching, teamwork and execution by these Virginia players. How much fun to watch them make it happen. Shame that four of the starters have decided to skip senior year and declare for the NBA. That's the downside. But, what a brilliant season and such clutch plays. Wahoo-wah
Texas Tech ain't have no bucket getters like that. Solid young men who played great defense and play great team basketball. But they didn't have anybody who could really get a bucket one on one besides Culver. and at the end of the game like this sometimes it's about which team can get buckets. Virginia had three legit bucket getters (Jerome, Guy, Hunter) and I believe that's what put em over the top. Hats off to coach Beard and Texas Tech though.💯🙏🏿
@@josh8837 Virginia's defense had alot to do with Culver's performance! I wish everyone would stop blaming Culver for Texas Tech's loss! Give credit to the D the Cavs put on him! Virginia made him work! Everything he did and everywhere he was on the floor was contested!
Hella of a game. Ain't going to lie though texas tech had it at the end, but that three by hunter was a dagger. And in overtime moody and cuver choked with dumb shots
Did you see the foul they called on Moretti, Guy was tripped by his own teammate. It changed momentum since then, and by the way, Texas Tech shot 15 free throws vs 23 of VA. Who's back here after the Lightning won the Stanley Cup?
texas tech gave the game away at 2:29 by giving up a 3 instead of a 2 when they were up 3
I mean that was a good play 5:20
Texas Tech ain't have no bucket getters like that. Solid young men who played great defense and play great team basketball. But they didn't have anybody who could really get a bucket one on one besides Culver. and at the end of the game like this sometimes it's about which team can get buckets. Virginia had three legit bucket getters (Jerome, Guy, Hunter) and I believe that's what put em over the top. Hats off to coach Beard and Texas Tech though.💯🙏🏿
Andrew Sharpe and the fact that Culver played awful
@@josh8837 Virginia's defense had alot to do with Culver's performance! I wish everyone would stop blaming Culver for Texas Tech's loss! Give credit to the D the Cavs put on him! Virginia made him work! Everything he did and everywhere he was on the floor was contested!
Anyone else see mahomes at 0:55
He's one of my favorite nfl
players but my favorite team is the wahoos
That's a terrible last second shot before ot go to the hole try to draw a foul
Its rigged.... middle school players know better ..
oullerslb this isn’t the NBA
@@oullerslb you're delusional.
spikeball pro8 y’all the type of weirdos that think every sport is rigged for some reason? 😂
Josh dude everyone with half a brain knows the NBA is rigged
Like if this was the most interesting ncaa championship game
Clark 🇵🇭 pride
TT had a chance to win before over time I don't get why some players take bad shots when they have enough time to take a better 1.
championship game on the line pressure too strong
lets gooo uva!!! 🧡💙🧡💙
Virgina🔥🔥🔥
Hella of a game. Ain't going to lie though texas tech had it at the end, but that three by hunter was a dagger. And in overtime moody and cuver choked with dumb shots
Texas Tech never had it. Lol
Culver was awful he shot like 20% they never had it honestly took so many awful shots smh
Did you see the foul they called on Moretti, Guy was tripped by his own teammate. It changed momentum since then, and by the way, Texas Tech shot 15 free throws vs 23 of VA. TTU could not buy a foul call in overtime. and how do you overturn the call out of bounds when Moretti had it knocked away rigged!
