Hello everyone, Arek here. And today I have for you a boss run of a new Castlevania fangame. It is a short (around 3 hours for 100%) metroidvania based on CV1 and it is really good. Of course I could not ignore it and decided to try and fight these bosses. In the end I managed to defeat most of them using only basic whip and without taking damage, using subweapons or any enhancements for any of the abilities. There are two exceptions, though. I had to use enhanced holy water and crit card (gives every attack a critical strike chance) in the fight against Cthulhu. It seems to be the least thought out boss in this game. All his attacks come with little to no cooldown time and most of them are just a spam of randomly flying projectles with big hitboxes. It might be possible to perfect this fight without subweapons on 10000th try but I did not really want to spend that much time. Also I decided to use the crit card against Dracula to shorten the battle a little. It is possible to perfect him without it but the video would be much longer.
Imagine if Cthulhu was immune to subweapons and could damage Belmont just by meeting eye-to-eye long enough via depletion of newly appeared Sanity meter.
Boss list: 00:00 01 Phantom Bat 01:35 02 Medusa 03:59 03 Golem 05:41 04 Mummy Man 09:47 05 The Creature 12:46 06 Mirror Monster 15:24 07 Granfalloon 17:51 08 Cthulhu 19:15 09 The Grim Reaper 22:05 Final Boss - Dark Lord Dracula 25:34 Ending
Love that chiptune rendition of the Castlevania 6800 SHARP Dracula theme. It’s such an underrated track with an extremely silly name: “You Goddamn Bathead”
@@gamalielmarquez9088 It wasn't. It was the original TRANSLATED name and that is a difference. IIRC the localizers wanted to make a sort of reference. It was originally called Legion in the JP ver of SotN.
Most bosses in this game have 500 HP, and Dracula himself has 666 HP. However, since there are five of them, the mummies have a total of 1100 HP! Kinda crazy that the fourth boss has more HP than the final boss.
A Refreshing Take in Metroidvanias that ACTUALLY uses some Metroid Gameplay (No Leveling, progress depends on Abilities, no cheesing buying 9 of the best healing item) currently unlocked Fire Whip and i am loving every second of it, what i love the most is that rather than trying to shoehorn SOTN graphics everywhere like most Simon Quest Revamps, this one takes a humble Pixel art that makes it feel like a Revamp of the first game and i really appreciate that, Complains? Movement feels kinda oily As the video shows, if you dont subweapon, the bosses are sponges Warp point is confusing, rather than picking only the points you unlocked yet chossing seem to aim to all of them even if you haven't found them, making choosing the spot weird I am not asking to be able to use all cards, but only three cards fells to little, maybe four would be nice, Five is a max, but only three limits the card choice AND MOSTR IMPORTANTLY, No hold A+B glitch to hop whipping while you get the orb like in OG castlevania (jk) Despite that, the game is a pretty great Fangame, Keep it up L4 Games P.S: Just a tip, buy the card that lets you recover your money where you died Shovel Knight style, because the first parts are HARD AS HELL, once you amass some pick ups and get used to the controllers the game is Hard-Fair, but the beggining's difficulty may throw some people out
Most bosses have Contra Hard Corps patterns in Mega Man fight rooms XD I love the adaptation of "Créatures From The Depths" from Castlevania X68000 and Chronicles, on of my Favorite boss Themes with Followers Of Darkness The First, The Second, but my favorite are Followers Of Darkness The Third, this theme have so badass vibes frol greats Arcs Demons from final circles of Hells Abyss, and love Into The Dark Night and Dark Portal Bravery and Chamber Of Ruin also, Festival Of Servants also and all bosses themes from DS Castlevania Games lol And i love the cover of Load BGM at Creature Frankenstein level ^^
Really smart that in dracula's final form they made him look part rat because he is also in some formats lord of rats! This game is awesome i download it and i will play it,cool job to the guys over this project!
I don't quite know why but Granfalloon / Legion looking like the Moon from Majora's Mask combined with the... _Orb_ from the Fellus Bolus short on youtube is tickling my scary bone.
This is the key to speedrunning--beat the bosses without a hit to get the $1500 bonus. Or just buy the heavy boots, then you get the $1500 bonus no matter what.
Just beat this fangame today, and I agree, some of these take a bit too long to beat. I find Medusa to be specially annoying since, as you said, the game expects you to use everything you have; however, she's just the second boss, so you aren't precisely loaded with upgrades at that point of the game, and therefore, it ends up taking quite a while to beat her.
So they had to use Creature in the Depths or the boss music from Castlevania Chronicles instead of Poison Mind or even Shudder from 64/Legacy of Darkness which would have fit better.

This just proves that the Belmonts are even capable of defeating even the Eldritch gods

Once I read about the Castlevania ReVamped, I was already expecting you playing it.
Cool to see that it happened.
Simon kicksliding across several screens into Dracula's throne room is ultimate power move, I gotta say.

Love the doink sound from Goonies 2 when you hit Dracula in the face.

I also loved that they added levels from the X6000 version like the cave system. The normal boss theme is also truly amazing.
Nice twist on Legion. I like how the "we are many, we are one" is quite literal than it being just core controlling the dead
I also like they use the term "Granfallon" for it.
@@SamtheBravesFan True. I remember that it was it's original name before the series changed to Legion.

@@szklanylabirynt151 While it may be an obscure reference, I think it was renamed to avoid religious controversy.

I can't take Granfaloon seriously when it looks like the moon from Majora's mask xD

First i thought this was gonna be a Rom hack, but some of these attacks would make the Nes explode into million little pieces.

Best Medusa fight I've EVER seen in a CV game!
Using the Boss theme from Chronicles. Nice
That wasn't bloodlines. It was from the Chronicles game for the PS1
I love how Death got what looks like Bartholomew's dash attack from Order of Ecclesia.
I love this game! Thanks for this. I was really struggling on how to no hit a few of these! Chutulu especially!
That tea bag near the end of the video made me rofl.
Simon, flying in the sky!

Granfallon reminds me of the Moon from Zelda: Majora's Mask.

What an awesome game. Well played mate!
Welp, I'm now feeling like an idiot not once using the slide move to dodge Dracula's barrage of fireballs. Welp, now I know. XD
Glad you're still kicking. Watching your vids over X years!
Love the use of the x68000 musics. I wanna feature this games music in a video!

holy water and bible will make most of the fights slightly easier due to how much DPS those two sub-weapons deal.
What's that music that plays during the second phase of Dracula?
I don't recognize it from any game I saw or played.
It's a remake from the final phase for Dracula from Castlevania: Chronicles.
